“What the fuck happened in here! Where’s Oracle?

” Dakota demanded, staring at the disaster in his kitchen as he stood in the doorway with Slate behind him.

Four pairs of guilty eyes stared back at him, their owners frozen in place while Daniel played in the spilled rice puffs on the floor, crushing them and laughing as each was pulverized into powder.

Dakota’s gaze swept the room, taking it all in—broken eggs on the countertop, their yolks slowly spreading into yellow circles of goo, burnt pieces of toast discarded carelessly, spilled syrup, pancake batter dripping onto the floor, and the acrid smell of burning bacon permeating everything.
