33. Liam

Chapter 33

Liam

W e finally arrived at Adrianna’s house.

Adrianna ran around the house, preparing popcorn, sodas, alcohol, other assortment of snacks and a fruit platter.

Margo and I sat on the stools.

I wasn’t exactly quite sure how Margo and I were going to handle this. I hate to give her credit, but she was smart for making a pact.

This was an amazing way for her and I to be friends and not fuck each other. Sure, what just happened a couple minutes ago, wasn’t an ideal way to show that there was a method to our madness.

But I swear now, I won’t mess with her any further.

“So, Liam, how is your recovery?” Adrianna asked me like she was a mother.

I took a look at Margo who threw me a face to urge me to answer her best friend.

“It’s been fine, Margo’s been helping a lot.” I assured as Adrianna smiled at me.

“That’s good, I’m sure you’ll make a full recovery soon.” She added.

“Where is everyone?” I was afraid to ask, but it came out of my mouth anyways.

Adrianna gave me a look as she shut the fridge.

“You don’t have to beat around the bush.” She laughed, “You miss your boyfriend.” She probed while she placed a wine bottle on the countertop.

“I don’t miss him.” I said with a look of defeat.

“Yes, you do.” Adrianna laughed.

“Why, has he said anything about me?” I questioned with a bit of an embarrassing tone.

Grayson and I haven’t talked in a week. Which I didn’t realize was such an inconvenience.

I had to find someone else to work out with, that wasn’t Neil or Chris. I didn’t know who to call when the New York Rangers lost. I had no idea who to call when we had our chemistry exam.

We couldn’t sit together during the exam. We couldn’t even cheat off of each other, which sucks because I was good with the multiple choice and he’s good with open ended.

“No, he won’t talk about it.” Adrianna yawned.

“What even happened between you guys?” Margo turned her body towards me.

He tried to give me advice about you.

“Nothing much important.” I ran my hand through my hair.

“Right.” Adrianna stumbled to a halt.

“Well, whatever it is, might be resolved to night because they just got here.” Adrianna walked over to the door and opened it.

“Baby!” She greeted Grayson with a kiss.

Grayson picks her up with one hand and spun her around as he held a bouquet of flowers.

“Are those for me?” Adrianna asked as Grayson kissed her cheek and handed her the flowers, “No they’re for the fish in your backyard pond.”

I looked over at Margo as she looked at Adrianna and Grayson. I understood that look way too often. She was watching the Adrianna and Grayson show.

The show where the Hawthorne’s favorite couple not only looks perfect but their love for each other is perfect.

“What is he doing here?” He looked directly at me.

“He’s our friend, he’s a part of movie night.” Adrianna spitted out like venom.

Grayson never spoke back to Adrianna anymore when it came to things like this. Don’t get me wrong they still bickered but if you wanted a definition of whipped you can take a good old look at Grayson Prince.

“He’s your friend now!?” He asked Adrianna as I stood up.

“I told you, me coming was a mistake.” I informed as I grabbed my coat and started walking over to the door.

“Will you guys knock this off? You guys are best friends. A stupid little fight and what?” Adrianna threw her hands up.

“You guys just forget that you two practically were raised together?” She continued as I took a breath out, putting my hands on my hips in annoyance.

“Stop acting like children and admit that you two miss each other.” Margo piped in as I turned my head to look at her.

Adrianna and Margo looked at each other as Grayson and I avoided each other’s gaze.

“You don’t have to leave; we can still have a good night. We don’t have to talk to each other.” Grayson made a point as I looked over to Margo who smiled at me.

“Don’t worry, you can bother me.” She suggested as I nodded my head.

After a few seconds, Neil walked in with a box of pizza and later came, Juliette and Verina. The idea of talking to Chris grazed my mind before I forgot that he wouldn’t be here until later.

I kind of looked forward to watching a movie with Margo. We used to do it all the time back in Greece, of course we never really paid attention to the movie, but this was a great revisit.

T he girls have decided to watch the Dead Poets Society.

Grayson and Adrianna were cuddled up as usual. I would usually spend my time with Neil at this point and Margo would spend time with Juliette and Verina. It was a weird idea that Margo and I just laid together.

As friends of course.

I placed a cup on the coffee table, which made Margo move it on a coaster, “I didn’t buy Adrianna these coasters for show, use them.” She whispered.

I laughed at Margo’s stupid quirks. I always knew how technical she was. She liked things a certain way, her phone kept beeping every five-minute interval.

I knew who the calls were from, I had an idea that she didn’t want me to see. Every time it happened; she would point out something obvious in the movie so that my attention would move away from her fiancé’s call.

“I really like Neil in this movie; he’s such a sweetheart.” She murmured as I shoved her softly.

“You’ve said that already.” I stated as she threw me a full face of attitude.

“Whatever, give me a bite of that.” She motioned over to the half-eaten slice of Hawaiian pizza that I held up to my face.

“No.” I pulled the slice away from her as she tried to swat at it.

“No?” She warmly huffed as I shook my head.

“No, I’m not going to give you a bite because I know you’re not going to like it. Then you’re going to ask me how the fuck I could possibly put something like that near my mouth, and I don’t want to listen to that when I want to watch the movie.” I teased as she rolled her eyes.

“You’re lucky I don’t spike that pizza with kiwi right now.” She said with a quiet tone.

“Ah yes, kill me. That’s always a good idea.” I laughed.

“Neil would’ve gave me a bite.” She beckoned as I turned my body to face hers.

“I could do more than give you a bite.” I urged as her body stiffened.

“Are you always this revolting?” She taunted as I couldn’t help a smile form on my face.

“I try to be, but especially when I’m with you.” I swore as she directed her eyes over to the group on the other side of the room.

“Why does Neil look like he’s about to shit himself?” She asked me as I shrugged.

She looked at me then back at Neil, “Uhm, Neil why do you look like you’re about to shit bricks?” She jabbered as I laughed.

Neil looked away from the movie, his face looked like he had just been stunned by a ghost.

“I’m not really comfortable with a character having the same name as me.” He said fearfully as Grayson and I couldn’t help but burst out laughing.

The moment we realized we laughed at the same thing; the laughter died off very quickly.

“I have a bad feeling about this movie.” He added.

“No, I’m sure that’s just you.” Juliette giggled as I looked at Margo and Adrianna who held in their laughter.

“How could something possibly go wrong, look at him he just put on an amazing play and his dad is probably going to understand that he’s talented.” I consoled as he nodded his head.

“No yeah, Liam’s right.” Grayson added as I placed my eyes back to the movie.

“You know… these group of guys reminds me of your friend group.” Margo asserted as I shook my head.

“Knock it off.” I remarked as her eyes narrowed.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Her tone went up.

“You and your best friend need to stop urging me and my ex best friend to reconcile.” I expressed.

Margo placed her hand on her chest looking hurt, “Oh my god! You called him your ex best friend; things are really in the doghouse.” She made her voice louder.

Grayson’s eyes directed themselves towards our direction, his laying positioned changed as he shot up.

“Ex best friend?!” He blubbered.

I rolled my eyes, “Gray, you know I didn’t mean it.”

“No, but you said it.” He folded his arms together.

Like a child who was ready to throw a tantrum.

“Well, what do you want from me, we’re fighting!” I yelled as he shook his head.

“Not permanently! You just called me your ex best friend.” Grayson spluttered as I couldn’t help but laugh.

“Okay I’m sorry!” The words spilled from my mouth so quickly as Grayson’s face formed a smirk.

“You’re forgiven.” He looked content as I gave the deadliest stare back at Margo who threw me a wink.

“See now you’re all good.” She whispered as I slapped my hand on my forehead before Neil screamed on the top of his lungs.

Margo jumped closer to me; she was now sat on my lap. I looked around and saw Adrianna gripping Grayson’s arm. Verina and Juliette jumped away from him.

“You all lied to me!” He stood up and looked astounded.

“What are you talking about?” Grayson asked as Neil looked at me with sorrow filled eyes.

“Neil Perry just killed himself because he felt trapped by his father.” Juliette informed us all as I looked at Grayson.

“Hmm… how fitting.” We looked behind Neil, to hear Chris’s voice pop up.

“You guys are watching my favorite film on Earth.” He added whilst placing his bag next to the coat hanger.

Chris looked at me and Margo, then Grayson and Adrianna, “So I’m guessing you guys made up. And I’m guessing that Neil just reached the point in his life where he realized that he was named after Neil Perry from the Dead Poets Society.

“I understand him so much.” Neil shook his head.

“He’s literally me!” He insisted as we all grew quiet.

“Well let’s not say that out loud, what happened to Neil Perry was a travesty and I’m pretty sure I cried for days.” Chris reported as Neil moved closer to him.

I looked at Margo who realized she was still sitting on me; she moved back to sit beside me.

“If I died, would you cry that much too?” Neil asked with a pout.

Chris went silent for a moment.

“I don’t think I would cry at all.” He rolled his eyes as everyone in the group cried of laughter.

By the end of the movie everyone’s laughter had turned into tears.

I will forever thank the Dead Poets Society for reuniting me and my friends. And a second lousy thank you to Margo for reconciling my best friend and I.

“Thanks.” I whispered as she stared at the screen of the television.

“We’re friends now, remember?” She looked at me with a smile.

“I guess so Raine.” I sighed as she brushed her hand on mine.

I couldn’t help but wonder if she wanted to hold my hand, but it didn’t matter because she was snuggled up next to me and that was all I really cared about.
