Chapter Fifty-Two

October 4, 2022

Dear Jensen,

Work has been busy, busy, busy. I feel like I’ve barely been home. October seems to be crazy in the indie publishing community between all the horror books being released for “spooky season” and the holiday releases coming in hot on their trail. Thankfully, January is right around the corner, so life should settle back down after the New Year.

Sometimes I miss living in a coastal town, but this time of year makes that a little easier. You would love it here, minus the crowds of course. The cooler temperatures have caused the trees to bloom into bright, brilliant colors. There’s something about being in the mountains this time of year that brings my soul back to life…momentarily that is, before winter rushes in with her bitter cold claws.

Fuck, I can’t believe it’s already been four months since I saw you last or even spoke to you directly. I miss you. Carve a pumpkin, have a bonfire down on the beach like we did when we were kids, or just do something fun! Think of me when you do.

Happy Halloween!

Next letter in November.

With all my love,

Your Serenity
