Chapter 92- The Fight

I had already made sure that everything for the meeting room was set and it was left with just a few minutes and the meeting was going to start.

I don't know why fate set me up like this, was it not just a few days ago that I saw Cole's father and it didn't end on a good note. Now I had to see him in just a few hours and I was already engaged to his son.

I stood up as I heard Cole's office door open and then I quickly walk out of my office.

“ Are you ready?" he asked and I nodded as he took my hand and we walked to the elevator.

He opened the elevator door and we both walked in as we patiently waited for it to reach the meeting room. The elevator reached too soon and I couldn't help but take a breath in just to calm myself down.

“ Everything is going to be fine," Cole said and I nodded before he opened the door and we both walked in. It was just my luck that his dad was the first person I happened to lock eyes with.

Cole walked to his seat and I followed him as I sat down just beside him.

I saw his Mom and I smiled at her and she smiled back. I just couldn't help but notice that there was something wrong, there was this look in her eyes that I didn't quite understand.

Without wasting any time the meeting started.

“ Welcome esteemed ladies and gentlemen, I'm grateful to you all for making out time to come here even with your busy schedules because I know the company is important to us, but there are a few issues we need to deal with," Cole said as everyone looked at the meeting agenda in front of them.

There were a lot of things to talk about and that made me even more worried, we were barely into the meeting yet I was already feeling daggers being thrown at me.

I tried to compose myself and tried to not make it bother me but I know that I'll be lying to myself if I say his stares weren't disturbing me.

The meeting continued and so did the harsh stares from Cole's father. I tried my very best to concentrate so I could take note but it was hard. I found myself bringing my hands under the desk to clench them so they would stop shaking.

“ So you think that's the solution?" I heard Cole's father ask and I came out of my thoughts as I turned to see him staring at Cole with a sharp, challenging look.

“ That's why we're in this meeting, if there's anything you disagree with or don't like we can always discuss it or bring new ideas, we'll always find a solution." Cole said and the father hummed,

“ Have you been distracted son?" he asked and Cole's jaw clenched,

“ The only distraction I'm receiving right now is from you, so please father, can you let the meeting continue?" Cole said and from his father's face he didn't like that one bit.

I don't know why he was doing this but it's not nice to always make your son look like he wasn't trying his best, it's very discouraging.

“ That's very good, they're top of the market and asking for their help would make this new product sell and go viral,” one of the board members said.

A new product would be launched into the market soon but the date wasn't confirmed yet, that was why there was a meeting and Cole's suggestion was simply to collaborate with influencers for this new product so that it could get the recognition it deserves, this is while doing advertisement from our end yet his father was questioning the suggestion.

I didn't see anything wrong with it, nowadays influencers are the best way to reach the general public faster. These social media influencers post just a little thing on social media and because it's from them people run to see. So they were the perfect option.

If Cole's father didn't like the idea he should bring a better one or else he should just sit down and let my fiance do his thing.

They talked about other things as the launch date was finalized and soon enough the meeting came to an end.

Cole shook hands with some of the directors as they talked and I just sat down trying to quickly go through the notes I took during the meeting.

“ Anna, come," I suddenly heard Cole call me and I quickly stood up as I walked to him.

“ Mr Smith, I don't think you've met my fiancee," Cole said and the man looked at me in surprise.

“ She's your fiancee?" He asked and Cole nodded,

" Wow, this is wonderful, you both sure look good together, a handsome man and beautiful woman that's a lot of beautiful children,” he said and Cole laughed when all I was doing inside was shaking, I'm sure Cole wasn't introducing me to only Mr Smith, the others in the room might have also heard the information.

“ Well, congratulations to both of you, I've got other engagements, so I beg to take my leave," he said and Cole nodded before he shook hands and walked away.

Everyone began to leave the room one by one until it was left with me, Cole and his parents.

“ You guys are engaged?” I heard Cole's mother ask as her eyes went to my finger where an engagement ring was sitting.

" Yes we are," I said,

“ Wow, this is the best news I've heard in a while," she said as she looked at me with shock and then she walked to me and hugged me.

" I'm happy about this, congratulations,” she said as she patted my back.

Cole's father suddenly started clapping and for a minute I thought it was because of the news and I was hopeful, not until his next words.

" You charmed my son, now you've also succeeded in charming my wife, aren't you a darling?"

" Jerry please don't start, be happy for your son,” his mother said,

" I'm really not in the mood for this, Anna please let's go,” Cole said as he took my hand and was about to lead me to the door but his Dad was pushing his buttons.

" You're going to marry a golddigger?" Cole turned faster than I could blink and was about to lunge at his father but I blocked him and in anger he pushed me by accident, everything happened so fast and the next thing I knew was that my head was hitting the ground and my vision began blacking out as darkness took me.
