CHAPTER 30
Rayne was confused about why Lucian was handing him a bowl of salt at a time like this.
“Why are you giving me this?” he asked.
Lucian took the baseball bat from Rayne’s hand and stood there calmly.
“Sprinkle this salt on the wounds where he’s bleeding,” Lucian said coldly. “He’ll feel like he’s already in hell.”
Rayne gulped. He had never done anything like this before, never even imagined it. He looked at Lucian, his expression filled with hesitation, silently asking if he truly had to do this.
His fear hadn’t completely faded yet. He wasn’t sure if he could bring himself to commit such a cruel act.
Just then, two men brought in chairs and placed them beside Lucian.
Lucian sat down, crossing one leg over the other. He rested the tip of the baseball bat against the ground, holding it loosely.
“Rayne, he never thought twice before hurting you,” Lucian said. “You were left with trauma because of him, while he walked around just fine after what he did. Are you okay with that?”
Those words stirred something inside Rayne. It made him realize that Losif had never felt guilty, not even once, for what he had done.
So why should Rayne hesitate? Why should he still be afraid?
The fear in his eyes slowly disappeared, replaced by something else, confidence. A faint smile formed on his lips.
Losif, who had been watching everything, felt his heart drop. He had believed Rayne would never follow Lucian’s words. But now, seeing Rayne ready to act, his face turned pale.
“Rayne… you’re not actually going to do this, right?” Losif’s voice trembled. “You wouldn’t do something so cruel to me. Did you forget? I was your first love. Even if we broke up, I still love you…”
Fear dripped from his voice.
His face was swollen, his injuries worsening despite being treated earlier. His arms and legs were broken, and blood stained his skin. He was panting heavily, staring desperately at Rayne.
But even after seeing all of that, Rayne didn’t waver.
He stepped forward, grabbed a handful of salt, and threw it onto Losif’s wounds.
“Aaaaaaaaaaaaa!”
Losif’s screams echoed through the room.
A strange sense of satisfaction washed over Rayne. He had never imagined that someone like Losif could scream in pain because of him.
“You’re really weak… just like me,” Rayne murmured with a small smile.
Lucian heard that, and he was pleased. Rayne wasn’t showing mercy anymore.
Rayne turned to Lucian, took the baseball bat from him, and handed him the bowl of salt instead. Then he faced Losif again, gripping the bat tightly.
“Shall we start?” Rayne asked.
And then he swung.
Again and again.
Each strike drew out another scream from Losif, filling the room with raw agony. The sound of the bat hitting flesh echoed mercilessly.
Suddenly, Losif let out a loud cry,and then went still.
Rayne stopped, his breath uneven. He glanced at Lucian, unsure.
It looked like Losif had died.
Lucian signaled toward the door.
Within seconds, a doctor rushed inside. He checked Losif and injected something into him. Moments later, Losif’s eyes snapped open again.
Lucian stood up and walked over to Rayne, placing a hand on his shoulder.
“Rayne, leave the rest to me,” he said softly. “You must be tired. Let’s go back. I’ll handle everything from here… and Losif’s chapter in your life will be closed forever.”
Hearing that, Rayne nodded. He dropped the baseball bat onto the ground.
Lucian led him out of the room. Once outside, his gaze fell on Rayne’s hands.
They were scratched, injured from gripping the bat too tightly.
Without a word, Lucian took out his handkerchief and gently wiped Rayne’s hands.
From there, the two of them left together.
As they stepped out of the basement, Lucian’s subordinates were still watching over Chiyo. A few of them approached and greeted them politely.
“Hello.”
“Hello,” Rayne replied.
Rayne stood straight, while Lucian leaned slightly against him, as if relying on his presence. Rayne didn’t push him away,he simply stood there, as if it was something completely normal.
After exchanging a brief nod with his subordinates, they both walked out of the club and got into the car.
Just as Rayne was about to step inside, he suddenly paused.
A strange feeling crept over him, like someone was watching them.
He glanced around, scanning the surroundings carefully. But there was no one.
“What happened?” Lucian asked.
“Nothing. Let’s go,” Rayne said, getting into the car.
He didn’t mention what he felt. Since he hadn’t seen anything, he didn’t want to make a big deal out of it.
Once inside, Lucian started driving. After a few moments, he noticed Rayne looking at him.
Rayne’s eyes were filled with questions.
Lucian chuckled softly. “You can ask whatever you want. I’ll answer,” he said.
“Are you really… a mafia? Like the ones in movies?” Rayne asked.
His eyes sparkled with curiosity. He had never once thought of Lucian that way. To him, Lucian had always been just a businessman. But after seeing the club, and witnessing the way Lucian handled things,he couldn’t ignore it anymore.
Lucian laughed.
“You seem more excited than scared. That’s the opposite of what I expected,” he said. “My mother’s family was part of the yakuza… and now, I’m in the mafia.”
Rayne listened carefully to every word.
“Why would I be scared of you?” Rayne replied. “It’s not like you’re a ghost or something. Actually… I’m kind of happy. When I was a kid, I used to dream about having a mafia husband. I just can’t believe that childish dream actually came true.”
A bright smile appeared on Rayne’s face.
Lucian’s eyes widened slightly in surprise. Then, he smiled and continued driving.
“By the way, a lot has happened recently. Want to go somewhere to relax?” Lucian suggested. “Let’s take a trip abroad.”
It wasn’t a bad idea at all, so Rayne agreed. The only question left was, where?
But Rayne didn’t need to worry about that. Lucian simply handed the responsibility over to his assistant. After all, why stress over something when someone else could handle it?
Two days later, everything was finalized. They were going to Huan Town,a place famous for its breathtaking beauty.
When Rayne saw pictures of it online, he was completely captivated.
“I’m really excited to go there,” Rayne said. “But are you okay leaving your work? I’ll finish mine early, but I’m worried about you.”
Rayne was busy packing their bags, while Lucian sat on the bed, holding a glass of water.
“I’ll handle my work too. I’m the president, remember? Nothing to worry about,” Lucian replied casually. Then he added, “By the way… do you want to go shopping? Since this is our honeymoon trip.”
The clothes slipped from Rayne’s hands.
“Honeymoon?”
The word echoed in his mind. Not even once had that thought crossed his mind before.
But now that he had realized this wasn’t an ordinary trip, but a honeymoon trip, many thoughts crossed his mind.
“Are you okay with going on a honeymoon trip with me?” Rayne asked Lucian.
