I was curled up in a chair by my bedroom window, watching the Moon when I felt his presence behind me.
Unintentionally a smile spread across my face without me even noticing and i felt his arms wrap around me.
"Can't sleep?" he asks and I nod my head with a sigh.
"I was thinking about my parents," I reply honestly. Alpha Stone remains quiet for a moments before he speaks.
"Do you want to speak to them?" he asks gently and I turn my head to him in surprise.
"Seriously?" I ask. I was sure he would have been annoyed by the fact I was even thinking about my old pack.
"Well I learnt my lesson about trying to keep you separate from them." He smiles against my cheek and I can't help but smile back.
"Maybe tomorrow," I say with a yawn, "it's too late to call them now."
Zac doesn't say anything and before I can react he wraps his arms underneath my thighs and lifts me in his arms before walking us over to my bed. He gently puts me down and pulls the cover over me. I'm starting to feel drowsy now and my eyes begin to flutter close when his fingers tuck strands of my hair behind my ears.
"I have to do night rounds tonight," he explains, his eyes unwavering, "but if you can't sleep you're always welcome to come and sleep in my bed." I can tell he is smiling from the tone of his voice, even though my eyes were closing and it was getting harder to keep them open.
I smile back, "be safe." I find myself saying.
"Eve," his tone is serious so my eyes quickly open to meet his grey ones, "I don't want to rush you but I was thinking that perhaps tomorrow I could formally introduce you to the pack."
I get a nervous niggle in my stomach and I want to say no, its too quick, but I can see how important it is to him so I hold my tongue and end up nodding my head.
"That's fine." I whisper, despite the fact I was now so nervous all thoughts of sleep had disappeared.
It's clear he can see my nerves and his fingers trail down my arms and intertwine with my fingers, holding them tight.
"You're going to be fine." He tries to reassure but it doesn't help. I was comfortable with only knowing Kate, Carla and Jayden. The thought of meeting the rest of the Red Moon Pack was frankly terrifying.
Zac leans down and gently presses his lips against my forehead. "I promise you Eve, they are going to love you."
Hmm, why do I find that very hard to believe.

Just as expected, I ended up having another sleepless night. I mean I was very tempted to take up Zac's offer of sleeping in his bed but every time the thought popped up in my head I pushed it aside. It wasn't good how quickly I was becoming dependant on him. I knew that right now it was mostly the effect of the mate bond, but I could tell that sooner or later, if this continues, i wouldn't just be able to blame my actions on the mate bond.
I washed my face and brushed my hair and teeth and was about to slip into a pair of jeans and a sweater when Kate came rushing into my room. This woman had no problem invading other people's privacy.
"Hey!" she greeted as she jumped onto my bed, an ecstatic smile on her face. She looked nice wearing high waisted jeans and a cropped jumper.
I stared at her blankly and rolled my eyes.
"There is this thing called knocking," I tease, "it's a way of letting people know that you are about to come in."
Kate rolls her big eyes back at me and sticks out her tongue immaturely.
"Oh not you too," she sighs, making me raise an eyebrow in question. "My brother already had a big go at me for invading your moment together yesterday so you don't have to tell me again."
I blush at the memory of Zac and I in bed together and before Kate could notice and make fun of me I quickly turn my back to her and look at myself in the mirror.
"I heard you're being introduced to the rest of the pack today." Kate finally says when I join her on the bed to slip my feet into my ankle boots.
I close my eyes at her words. I had hoped Zac had forgotten about it, but clearly not.
"Yeah." I replied under my breath and Kate nudged my shoulder with her fist. "Honestly don't worry about it." she replies, "everyones already figured out who you are- it's really just a formal thing."
Formal thing or not, i couldn't hide the fact that I wasn't looking forward to being paraded around in front of a pack who probably hated me.
"And since you and Zac are getting along so fabulously," Kate winks, "I guess you'll soon have to start your Luna duties."
Luna duties? I just can't catch a break.
"What exactly does Luna duties entail off?" I ask, not hundred percent sure I want to hear the answer.
Kate scrunches up her face comically, "Do you know what? I'm not actually sure."
I roll my eyes at her reply.
"I think you just need to look after all the women and children of the pack." she replies as if she was talking about the weather.
Brilliant. Just freaking brilliant. I could hardly look after myself and now it was my duty to look after the well-being of hundreds of women and children.
Like I said before, I just can't catch a break.

"No Eve, I think the other one was better."
I sigh and with a pointed glare at Carla I go back into the bathroom and slip out of the dress I was currently wearing and into the one Carla suggested.
It was a dark red, almost burgundy coloured sleeveless dress which was floor length. It had a low neckline so I raised an eyebrow when i stepped out of the bathroom and in front of Carla, careful not to step on the bottom of the dress.
"I don't know about this," I said, gesturing to my chest. It wasn't too revealing but I was worried about making a good first impression.
"You look stunning!" Carla complimented, standing up to circles around me, her eyes wide with awe, "honestly Eve, you look so beautiful in this."
I blushed, smoothing the dress out with my hands.
"Are you sure?" I ask again, but Carla nods fast and quickly pulls me over to the chair where she already had her makeup spread out.
"We need to be quick, everyone's already downstairs." she says, filling me with dread. I close my eyes and instead focus on my breathing when Carla begins to apply various things onto my face.
Fifteen minutes later she was finished.
"I'm so proud of myself" she squeals, "you look so freaking beautiful."
I was reluctant to look at my reflection but her words make me open my eyes and I'm in shock at my own reflection.
"Whoa..." I gasp. My black hair was wavy, cascading down my back, my eyes defined with black eyeliner, my lashes lengthened with mascara, making my usually dull brown eyes pop. My cheeks and jaw are sharp with Carla's contouring skills and my lips plum and red, matching the same shade as my dress.
"I look-"
"Perfect." My eyes immediately look up and I catch Alpha Stones reflection in the mirror. He was standing by my bedroom door, his eyes fixed on me.
I stand up and turn to face him, suddenly feeling shy from the intensity in his dark eyes.
"You look like perfection." He finally says, his eyes trailing the length of my body before coming back to my face.
I wring my fingers in front of me, breaking eye contact when a hot flush takes over my face.
"Thank you," i whisper and the next time I look up Alpha Stone is right in front of me, only a fingers reach away. He was looking pretty damn good too, in a black fitted suit, which looked like a second skin on him.
"In fact you look so good," his large hands latch onto my hip, pulling me flush against him, "that I don't know if I'm ready to show you off to everyone."
I see an awkward looking Carla, over Zacs' shoulder and I quickly push him away. She was staring at her feet as if it was the most interesting thing in the whole world, her cheeks tainted red.
Alpha Stone catches the direction of my gaze and clears his throat. He holds out his elbow and I glance at it before delicately linking my arm through his. He gives me a final smile and begins to lead me out of the room. I turn to Carla as we leave.
"I'll see you down there." I say and she nods in reply.

I could feel myself tremble as we walked outside. The whole pack had gathered and they were all seated in rows facing ahead where there was a small podium with four seats already placed. I was sure Zac could feel my worry because he pulled away from me in order to wrap his arm around my waist, practically holding me up.
Two of the seats on the podium were already taken up. Kate looking as remarkable as ever, in an emerald green dress, was sitting next to Jayden who was looking very dashing in a black suit.
I dare to look around and noticed that all the members of the pack had bothered to dress up, all wearing suits or dresses.
"You'll be fine." Zac leaned in to whisper in my ears as we walked up the steps of the podium.
I gulped, not able to say anything back.
"Good Evening everyone." Zac's voice greeted, loud and clear. I raised my eyes slowly, feeling slightly faint when I took in the number of people that there were in front of us. I knew Red Moon Pack was big but I hadn't realised it was this big.
As soon as they had seen us, everyone had stood up to greet us, but now Alpha Stone gestured for them to sit down and they obeyed.
"As all of you know, I have gathered you all in order to introduce you to someone who is not only very important to me, but will also be an important part of our pack."
I felt his grip tighten on my hip.
"Everyone I would like to introduce to you Evelyn Kronex- my mate and your Luna."
Applause erupted immediately and I couldn't help the sigh of relief. Hey, at least they hadn't all started booing and trying to kill me.
"See, I told you it would be fine." Zac whispered as he looked down at me. I smiled up at him, yeah maybe it wouldn't be so bad.
So Eves getting on well with Zac and now she's been introduced to the pack- surely everything's?going to be fine...right?
P.S- I just love Eve's dress, like its so freaking pretty, yet simple.?
