Love Rose x

"Luna?"

My fingers wrapped tightly around the wine glass I was holding. I had hardly taken a sip, my stomach twisting and flipping with nerves meant I was worried I would be heaving up anything I swallowed. My body twisted in the direction and straight away I wanted to roll my eyes at the two familiar women who strolled towards me.

"Luna, what an honour it is to meet you." The first one said. I remembered both of them- they were the women I had overhead speaking to Carla in the kitchen, the ones that had said Zac had killed my mother.

I forced a smile, despite the fact all I wanted to do was reach over and smack them across their smug looking faces.

"Hi, I don't think we have been introduced." I replied politely. I already knew their names but for appearances sake I played along.

"Oh forgive us," the brunette said, placing a manicured hand over her chest. She was wearing a blue floor length dress, her hair half up. "My name is Kiera," she stated, her perfectly manicured eyebrows raising, "I'm Alpha Stones maternal Aunt." She finished looking very proud of herself.

Seriously? This woman was actually related to Zac?

Despite my shock I kept the smile plastered on my face. "Oh really?" I ask, "It's very nice to meet you." I extend a hand out for her to shake but she ignores it and quickly pulls me into an embrace.

"Oh sweetie, we're family." she exclaims. I want to roll my eyes and tell her that she was no family of mine, but I bite my tongue and instead pull away, turning to the other woman who was standing by watching us.

This woman was the other one I had seen that night in the kitchen, clearly they followed each other everywhere.

"I'm Elena, my Luna." she introduced herself. She didn't go in for a hug, instead extending her hand out to me.

I comply and shake it, noticing how her grip tightened painfully around my hand.

"Are you also related to Zac?" I ask, tugging my hand away from her vice like grip, afraid if I left it any longer she might actually shatter the bones in my hand.

"No..." she drawls, a glint in her eyes as she smiles, "not yet anyway."

Apparently I must have missed the joke because both Elena and Kiera begin to laugh out loud. I watch them carefully, not sure what the hell was going on.

Suddenly a girl approached Elena, reaching out to grab her hand.

"Mother." she calls out sternly and I notice the similarities between girl and Elena.

"Oh Luna, this is my daughter Grace." Elena proudly states, pulling the girl before me. I can see why Elena was so proud of her daughter, the girl was incredibly beautiful. She had long straight brown hair that reached the small of her back, a small heart shaped face with big green eyes and small pouty lips. Her frame was delicate and small and she held herself so elegantly in her white and gold dress.

Grace bowed to me, "A pleasure to meet you Luna." she whispers quietly and I can't help but feel jealous of the pretty girl.

I smile, "Nice to meet you too Grace." I reply and as soon as the words are out of my mouth Grace quickly drags her mother away, leaving just me and Kiera alone.

"Welcome to the pack Luna," my attention turns back to Kiera and she smiles before she too walks away in the direction that Elena and Grace had left.

I look after them for a few moments before I suddenly get bombarded with other members of the pack who were eager to speak with me. I look over them and notice Zac watching me from afar with a smile on his face. He notices my gaze and smiles making me smile back before continuing to talk with the pack.

"So how was it?" Zac asks when I sit on the bed to take of my heels.

It was a quarter to midnight and I was completely drained, longing to get into bed. I rubbed my sore heels and glanced up to Zac who was leaning against the door frame watching me.

"Yeah, it was really lovely to meet everyone," I reply honestly, "I even met your Aunt Kiera." I say with a smirk when Zac rolls his eyes.

"God that must have been hard." He says with annoyance. Clearly he didn't like her very much either.

I smile, "Unfortunately so," I say, " especially since she was the one who claimed you had ripped out my mother's throat."

Instantly Zac snarls, his eyes darkening. "Why am I not surprised? She has a bad habit of stirring shit up."

I sigh, letting my body fall back onto the bed. God, I was completely knackered.

"You looked beautiful tonight." I was just about to close my eyes when he said that.

"You looked pretty nice yourself." I reply with a giggle, pulling myself up reluctantly to look him in the eyes.

Zac was still watching me, his arms crossed over his chest. His hair had been combed back and gelled into place but now had started to escape, a strand curled in the middle of his forehead, looking like he was Elvis Presely.

"I-" he stopped, his face and eyes going blank. Someone was mind-linking him.

"Fuck!" he said a few minutes later as he came back to normal, his face contorting in anger.

I stood up quickly, I could sense something was wrong.

"Everything alright?" I asked worry lacing my words. I took a few steps towards Zac but I could tell he was deep in thought. His eyes snapped up towards me and he walked forward closing the space between us. His arms snaked around my waist, holding me tight.

"Somethings come up, I need you to stay inside the house."

"What? What happened?" I ask, I can tell he was serious. Something was troubling him.

He looks at me and I can tell he's conflicted about whether to tell me or not.

"Zac" i start, my lips forming a frown, "we promised to start fresh and that means not keeping anything from each other."

Zac looks at me intently, his fingers digging into my hips. He sighs finally and opens his mouth to speak.

"There are sightings of hunters on the border." He admits, "I need to go and check it out."

I nod, "Ok," I tell him, "I will wait for you to come back then."

I can tell he was stressed and me putting up a fight would only cause him more stress. Instead I would stay put like he asked and wait for him.

He seems surprised at my reply but smiles gratefully. "I'm sure it's nothing but I still want to go and check it myself." I nod at his words, but somewhere inside I had this dark feeling that actually it wasn't fine and that there was a darkness waiting to emerge.

"Be careful." I say, my hands reaching down and gripping his ones that were still around my waist.

He pulls away and places a hand on my cheek, stroking it with his thumb, "I'll be back before you know it." He says and he leans forward and places a kiss on my cheeks, inches away from my lips.

I watch as he leaves the room with a last glance back at me.

He'll be back before you know it.

?★★

I stared at the clock ahead. 6 o'clock.

It had been hours since he had gone and I was still waiting. I left my room as soon as he had gone and went to wait in his bed. There was a rope of fear tightening around my chest and the only relief was when I was in his bed, surrounded by his scent. It calmed me down, filled me with security.

I looked down at my lap, picking at my fingernails. Why wasn't he back yet?

I couldn't help the feeling of helplessness that was building up within me. I should be doing something, I think, I shouldn't just be sat here when Zac was our their protecting the pack. After all I am the Luna, whether I like it or not.

Just as I slip out of the bed the bedroom door opens and I sigh in relief.

"Zac!" I scream running up to my mate and jumping into his arms. I hold his tightly feeling calm at last, now that he was back safely.

He winces underneath my hold and I quickly pull back.

"What's wrong? Are you hurt?" I ask, my eyes quickly roaming over his body.

I gasp when I notice the spreading red patch across the sleeve of his shirt. Blood.

"You're bleeding." I whisper as I take a step back, my eyes wide.

"I'm fine." Zac states but I can hear the pain in his voice.

"Take it off." I demand, pointing to his bloodied shirt.

"I'm fi-"

"Take it off." I order sternly and this time he listens, bending his body awkwardly to slip out of the shirt, trying his hardest not to twist his injured arm.

I switch on the light and pull him closer to see the wound.

"What happened?" I ask, ignoring the constriction in my chest as I observed the deep cut on his upper arm.

"There was a lot more of them than we expected, " Zac explains, seething through the pain, "one shot me with a silver arrow, I dodged it but it caught me on the arm."

Silver was deadly harmful to werewolves and clearly the wound was deep. I wasn't sure what to do.

"I think I should call Taliya." I say, not bothering to hide the worry in my voice.

Zac shook his head. "This is nothing." He shrugs.

"Zac-"

"Eve honestly I'm fine, I can feel it healing already."

I don't push it further and Zac slowly makes his way to the bathroom to have a shower, leaving me staring after him.

When he comes back ten minutes later, I'm already in his bed, my eyes finally closing now that I know he was back.

"This is a nice sight." He says, slipping into the bed beside me. His arms immediately wrap around me, I feel him wince slightly, "You in my bed."

I was going to ignore him, annoyed that he didn't listen to me about getting Taliya to look at the wound, but hearing him in pain shook all angry thoughts out of my head and I turn to face him.

He had somehow managed to wrap a bandage around the wound.

"I could have done that for you." I say, tracing my fingers gently over the bandage.

"It doesn't matter." Zac murmured and I can hear the sleep in his voice.

I stay quiet for a moment, watching him. Observing how peaceful he looks.

"But it does matter Zac." I whisper, thinking he had already fallen, his breathing even, his eyes closed.

"It matters because I feel so useless." I confess, "I hate how I can't help you. I hate how I'm so weak so I can't fight. I hate how your injured and there's nothing I can do it heal you. I hate-"

"If you keep talking, I'm gonna have to kiss you."

I'm startled by his voice.

"I thought you were asleep." I say shyly.

"Yeah and I thought I had more self control than I actually do. So if you don't stop talking nonsense about yourself I'll be left with no other option but to silence you." His tone was dark with promise.

Silence me? Why does that sound so tempting coming from him?

I gulp.

"Then do it." I can't believe the words that came out from my lips.

"What?" He asks, his eyes are open now, burning into me.

The room suddenly felt a hundred times hotter.

He was giving me a chance to take back my words.

"Kiss me."

He didn't need to be told twice.

His hands grabbed my face and pulled me closer to his, his lips smashed against mine. His hands roamed down the length of my back and he pulled me against him.

"You're mine Eve." He says, "only mine."

Ok- keep calm guys. They've only just gone and had their first ever kiss.
