14. Chapter 14 #2
Looking around, she tried to gauge what she could use for warmth and for protection.
There was a small blanket on the thin mattress.
The mattress was so thin, she could probably take it with them.
Use it as another blanket. There was a bucket in the corner.
She guessed that was for her to use the bathroom in.
God forbid she got any dignity in this place.
She clenched her fists in anger. She hated him so damn much.
She wasn’t a violent person, but for him, she might make an exception.
She dozed as the night went on, but never really fell asleep.
She had no concept of time down here. She only had her thoughts and dreams. Picturing Eamon as her Daddy made her heart flutter and her pussy throb.
He was everything she ever wanted. Why had she pushed him away?
Why had she not tried to be nicer to him?
There was no good reason to the rhetorical questions she asked herself, but as she sat there in the dark, contemplating life, she couldn’t help but ask.
She knew he was out there looking for her.
He wouldn’t just give up on her. She wondered about Damion and Ferris.
She wondered about Emma, too. She worried about Kiera and what she witnessed and hoped her Daddy was ok.
There was so much blood and carnage in the road when she was taken.
She knew Connor and Ryan were dead, which made her really sad to think about.
Shaking her head, she pinched her cheeks and tried to keep herself awake.
She wanted to be ready whenever Rae showed back up.
If she showed back up. She didn’t know how much time had passed, but it felt like hours that she had been down here.
She was so cold; the blanket was doing nothing to keep her warm.
How were they going to survive out there?
She hoped Eamon was close. Sending up a silent prayer, she finally succumbed to sleep.
A smiling Rae woke her up.
“Why are you smiling? What’s going on?” she asked in a confused and sleepy voice.
“We don’t have a lot of time, but we have enough. I brought clothes and shoes for you. I’m already dressed. Callum is knocked the fuck out. I put crushed-up Ambien from an old prescription in his whiskey and he is out cold. I don’t know how long it will last though, so we need to hurry.”
As she was getting dressed, Daphne pressed, “What about the other guards? Diana? And what about the other girls?”
“Diana is asleep too. She always takes something and she sleeps like the dead every night. The other guards are all watching porn in the living room upstairs, they think everything is locked up tight. We can’t all sneak out.
We will tell someone once we get to town and they will rescue everyone.
Like I said, we don’t have a lot of time, but I think we are in the clear. We just have to be really quiet.”
When she was finally dressed, she looked hopeful for the first time since being taken.
She looked at Rae and said, “You really thought of everything. Now we may not die of hypothermia.” They both snickered and shushed each other.
Despite the seriousness of the situation, she couldn’t help the giggles that escaped. Rae was going to be a good friend.
They both tiptoed out of the room, looking down the hall to make sure no one was coming.
It was eerily quiet; the only sound was the harsh wind whipping through the trees outside.
Even from inside the house, she could hear the wind howling.
Fuck, this wasn’t going to be fun. She followed Rae through the labyrinth of the basement, up a circular flight of stairs, down a long narrow hallway, and straight out the back door.
“Ok, keep following me. Fuck, it’s cold out here.
” Their teeth were chattering, and they were shaking despite the winter coats Rae had found.
She was freezing and knew Rae was too. They walked as quickly as they could through the falling snow.
They walked for what seemed like forever when Rae finally spotted the mansion in the middle of the woods. It seemed so out of place.
“I really hate this place. My family sucked, but now it’s going to save our lives. I wish we could build a fire, but we don’t want to draw attention to ourselves. But the house will be warm and there is water and food and everything you could need.”
“Definitely no fire. But everything else sounds great. It looks like it’s about to be dawn.
Once the weather clears a bit, we can figure out how to get to town.
The new snow would have covered our tracks so they won’t know which direction we went in.
Callum thinks that I’m just a dumb Little and will probably just assume we’re dead out here. ” Daphne snorted.
“Yeah, well, Littles aren’t dumb and we certainly are not, and Callum is an asswipe,” Rae grumbled.
“He really is. But don’t worry, Eamon will take care of him and we will never have to see him again.
” Daphne laughed as they sat on the couch in the living room.
Wrapping the blankets around themselves, they huddled together to share what warmth they could.
When the sun rose, they would keep trying to find their way to town.
As they were falling asleep, they heard voices and footsteps outside. They both froze and whimpered as they clung to one another.
