Chapter 34

Dayyan

My legs are still jelly, but Jannis is freaking out behind me and I need to see him.

“Hey, look at me.” I’m holding his cheeks ten seconds later. Turning around was a challenge. “What are you apologizing for?”

“I didn’t mean to... we didn’t talk about this, but then you moved and I lost control.”

“Was it hot for you?”

He looks at me, stunned. “Are you serious? Hell, yes. Obviously.”

“Good.” I gently brush the wet curls from his face. “For me too. The hottest thing ever.”

Jannis looks at me for what feels like an eternity, then the water turns cold. “Oh, shit! Get out, get out, get out!”

Wet, but still not clean we stand on the terrace, both wearing only our boxer shorts.

“Now what?” I ask, laughing.

“First we’ll take your dog for a walk, then we’ll go to the beach.”

Oh, fuck, my dog.

Fortunately, my dog is doing great. Luca took her on a walk and already fed her this morning. She has a large pink bowl of water, and she’s happy.

“No. Definitely not.” Jannis looks at me in confusion. “You can’t wear those.”

The swim trunks with the pink flamingos were already my downfall and I was sure it couldn’t get any worse. I was wrong. These have lips on them. Red lips. In different positions. You can even see the tips of tongues, and I think they’re even shorter than the ones with the flamingos.

“Why not? Luca gave them to me for my birthday. They’re funny. Don’t you think?”

“Funny? I’ll be walking around with a boner all day. If that’s funny, then hey, go for it.” I pull Jannis toward me and kiss him, still in awe that I’m allowed to do this now.

It’s high tide when we arrive at the beach. The waves are breaking close to the dunes and Jannis wants to go swimming. “First one in the water!” I hear the words in my ear and all I see is him racing past me. Fuck, he’s cute.

I love this side of him so much. The playful, free spirit, that he rarely shows the world.

I pull my tank top over my head and follow him.

I don’t stand a chance of winning, but it doesn’t matter.

Being with him is everything that counts, and being in the water with Jannis is definitely not a bad way to spend my time.

Or maybe it is, depending on which part of the body we’re talking about.

Jannis stands with his back to the beach tying his wet curls to a small bun.

I’ve never found that particularly exciting on girls, but on him it’s incredibly sexy.

The muscles in his back contract and relax, dancing to the rhythm of his movement, and I toy with the idea of pulling the hair tie out so he has to do it again.

Jannis is 6’4” of muscle and pale, even skin, which he successfully hides under his clothes.

I have a hard time wrapping my head around the fact that Danny aside, no one has ever bothered to look behind Jannis’s closed-off facade.

He is breathtaking. How did nobody see that?

I approach him from behind, wrap my arms around his waist and he immediately leans against me. “You’re so beautiful, sunshine.”

It’s a hot day, and when Jannis and I finally get out of the water, we just collapse onto our towels.

“I’m really sorry, you know? That I ran away when you kissed me. But... I was so scared.”

“Of what?”

“I promised Danny at his grave I’d never forget him, and then you came and... I was afraid I couldn’t keep my promise if I gave in to my feelings for you.”

Jannis is lying on his back and I’m playing connect the dots with the water drops on his stomach and chest. “What’s changed?”

“Valérie. Val has a completely different perspective, and it made me think.”

“I don’t want to replace Danny, I never did. I know I can’t replace him. He will always have a place in your heart, and that’s okay. But I’d be honored to sit next to him. In here.” I gently tap his chest with my fingertips.

“You’ve been sitting there for quite a while, I was just too confused to accept it.

Danny was my first love. Not everything in our relationship was perfect, I know that now.

I was overwhelmed most of the time, but still, he was the one who showed me I am worthy of being desired and loved, even if I am difficult.

And then you stepped into my life, and I’m not saying you wormed your way into my heart, because that would be a lie.

” I look at him with raised eyebrows and he laughs.

“You just sat down without asking, on that bench and in my heart. Suddenly you were there and you threw everything I thought about myself out the window.”

“You’re welcome.” I nudge him with a mischievous grin and Jannis rolls his eyes smiling, and he turns to me.

“That’s exactly what I’m talking about, everything is so easy with you.”

I slide a little closer. “Can I hold you?”

“Please.”

His voice is so soft it’s almost drowned out by the sound of the sea, but I hear him. Just as I hear him even when he's not speaking. In my head, he's loud.

I don’t know how long we lie there like this, but I don’t care either. Jannis is in my arms, here in this beautiful place, and that’s all I need.

“Dayyan?” Jannis lifts his head, then everything happens very quickly.

In one movement, he rolls onto me and I fall back onto my back.

Without hesitation, he closes the distance, his lips on mine, his large body on top of me.

He pauses briefly, pulls back and waits for my reaction, biting his lower lip and my heart threatens to explode in my chest. Once again, I feel Jannis’s hard cock pressing long and thick into my crotch.

Fuck, I want him to move, want to feel his cock on mine, but nothing happens.

Instead, he’s kissing me. It’s not a normal kiss, but a promise of more.

It holds more tenderness, more laughter, more lightness, more forever.
