Chapter 13
Harper was stunned as she looked at the food on the table. This wasn't food, this was a work of art. But then again there were people who could make food look good but the taste would be bad. Could Harrison also...
"What are you thinking about? Sit down, the food will get cold" "Okay"
Harper sat down and picked up the fork but kept staring at it "Stop staring, eat". She had no choice but to take a bite and when she did,she was stunned! The spaghetti was really good, don't even let her get started on the sauce!
Harper was naturally good at cooking but when it came to Harrison's cooking,it was like comparing the chef of a small restaurant to those of five star restaurants!
Harrison watched as Harper just sat down there while looking at the food and he furrowed his brow "What's wrong?" "This, the food is just too good! Are you sure you're not a chef in secret?" Harrison simply shook his head expressionlessly and went back to eating his food. He didn't know why,but hearing Harper's comment made him feel happy, even much more than when he bagged a million dollar contract.
After dinner, Harper walked into the bedroom to arrange it properly. She wanted to do the dishes but Harrison didn't allow her. As she turned her head, she saw his towel, which he used to dry his hair, draped over the back of a chair. She picked it up and walked out of the room.
The showerhead in the bathroom sprayed a fine, hot stream of water, and water droplets fell onto Harrison's smooth, sturdy back and flowed down.
His phone kept ringing. He simply glanced at it and hung up without expression. A while back,Clyde had told him about the marriage his father had arranged for him back in Willowbrook. He had kept calling but Harrison refused to pick his calls.
"Buzz, buzz" The phone rang again.
Harrison was about to hang up, but he frowned when he saw the caller ID.
After a couple of seconds, he turned off the shower, answered the call, and spoke in a low, cold voice.
"Grandma?"
"Harrison,Clyde said you got married. Why didn't you tell the family about such a big thing?"
"I'll talk about it later."
"Sigh, you are... Who is this girl? Bring her back to Willowbrook to meet us and have a proper wedding."
Harrison paused for a moment. "I will divorce her in three months, and I will explain it to you when I come back"
At the entrance of the bathroom, Harper held a towel. She didn't mean to eavesdrop. She'd heard his words that he planned to divorce her in three months — their relationship probably meant nothing to him. She hadn't said it before but she had actually liked Harrison for a while. She thought they could try and improve their relationship but it seems like that wasn't going to happen. She hung the towel on the door handle and turned to leave.
