Chapter 15

On the other end of the phone, Chloe was still crying. "Harrison, can't you comfort me a little?"

Harrison paused for a second before speaking coldly, "Where are you?"

Chloe immediately stopped crying and quickly replied, "Aurora Society Club, I'm waiting for you."

Meanwhile, Harper lay in bed with her head buried in the covers, quietly listening. She was only angry and didn't want to deal with Harrison, but she didn't expect Chloe to call again, especially at such a late hour. She always used work as an excuse to call him and act coquettish.

Suddenly, there was a rustling sound in the room, followed by the sound of the door slamming shut. "Bang!" Harper's heart also trembled. Harrison had actually left her behind...

She was buried under the covers, biting her lips so hard that they left deep marks, her nose feeling sour.

Although Harper had always comforted herself by saying that it was just part of Harrison's job as a bodyguard, she couldn't help but feel a pang of jealousy.

Harper was extremely upset and she curled up in a ball under the comforter with tears rolling in her eyes.

Just then, a faint and cold voice came "Are you crying?" She lifted her head and saw Harrison standing by the edge of the bed in a crisp white shirt with black pants. She blurted out "I thought you'd left" "I only went outside to call a cab. What? Are you jealous?"

"Jealous? Of course not! How could I be-" Just then there was a sound of thunder. It startled Harper so much that she shrieked and got off the bed, hiding in Harrison's arms. "What? Are you scared?" Harper couldn't even speak, she simply nodded frantically at Harrison's question. She didn't know why, but she had been scared of thunder since she was a child. Her mother would stay with her in situations like this but... "Please don't go" "It's okay, I'll stay with you uh?" "Yes please"

Harrison lifted Harper into his arms and gently placed her on the bed before lying down beside her "Is this enough" "Hmm". Harper slowly moved her hand and put her hand around Harrison's finger. He suddenly flinched and Harper removed her hand but Harrison simply held her small palm in his instead. "Harrison?" "Hmm?" "I- Never mind" "Come on you can tell me. What is it?" "Can you accompany me to see my mom tomorrow?" "Sure thing. Now go to sleep, I'll be here with you"

Harper gave a soft smile at Harrison's words as she snuggled into his arms and fell asleep. But she didn't know that Harrison kept watch over her all night.
