Chapter 27

Harrison stared at Harper for a moment before he blinked "I didn't see you downstairs so I decided to come over. Are you-" Harrison couldn't finish his statement before Harper threw herself into his arms, wrapping her arms tightly around his waist while inhaling his calming scent. She didn't want to admit it but she felt uneasy about being the only one in such a big office late at night. But with her Harrison here, she felt a strong sense of security.

Harrison was stunned by what Harper did but he slowly relaxed and patted her back. "Are you okay?" Harper looked up at him but her arms were still around his waist "I'm fine. Were you downstairs?" "I was waiting for you". Harper's heart warmed for no reason. It was already past ten at night which meant that Harrison had been waiting for her for four hours. If she hadn't asked,he probably wouldn't have told her a word.

"Why didn't you come see me?" "I didn't want to disturb you" Harper was too moved to speak. On such a cold night he waited outside for several hours just to avoid disturbing her. He was such a good man, and she felt so lucky to have him in her life. Harrison let go of her but his gaze darkened when it landed on her left hand. "What happened to your hand?!" Harper looked at her hand that had been scalded by hot coffee some hours ago. It didn't hurt anymore but it was still a bit red "Oh well hot coffee?" "Who did it?" "Miss Spencer. It wasn't really her fault though I should have-" "Are you dumb? Can't you tell she did it on purpose?!"

Harrison's stern voice and even sterner gaze made Harper flinch in fright. He saw that he had scared her and softened his voice "I'm sorry" "No it's ok" "Wait here, I'll go get some ointment for you" "But I don't-" Harper tried to grab Harrison but it was too late,he had already gone downstairs. She couldn't help but smile and shake her head "Seriously, he's such a worrywart" Harper turned her head and sighed when her gaze landed back on her computer "Well, guess it's time to get back to work"

Harrison arrived a few minutes later and saw Harper typing on her computer. He paused for a second and just stared at her but she didn't notice him,she was immersed in her work. She was finally done with it and she stretched her body and turned around, making their gazes meet. "How long have you been standing there?" "I just got here" "Oh that's good. I'm done with my work,we can go home now" "Ok"

Harper stood up and walked towards Harrison who held out his hand "What is it?" "Give me your hand" "Oh". Harrison held her hand and gently applied the ointment to it. "Are you okay?" "I'm fine" "Can we go now?" "Hmm". The young couple held hands and went home, but they didn't notice someone lurking in the shadows watching them.
