Harper was shocked to see Chloe walk into the company. What was she doing here? Wasn't she still 'hiding from shame' at home?
Chloe walked into the company amidst the stunned gazes of the crowd. She was wearing the latest version of a white and black Chanel suit exuding confidence. Lily had walked over to where Harper was standing and crossed her arms over her chest "Where the heck did she get her confidence from?"
A tall figure walked in and Chloe greeted him. Upon seeing the man, the crowd erupted in surprise. "Is it just me or does that man look like the youngest son of the Fletcher family?" "You're not mistaken! Look at the symbol on the car outside,it definitely belongs to the Fletcher family!" "But what business does the Fletcher family have with the Carson Group?" "Beats me". Harper heard the whispers in the crowd and looked over. She had heard of the Fletcher family which was one of the top four richest families in Willowbrook. But even though it stood at number 4,there was a huge gap between them and the Carson family so why was the son of the Fletcher family here?
The man who walked in was handsome but had a face full of impatience. Behind him was a slender young lady with long black hair and wearing a white dress. She wasn't a stunning beauty, but her temperament had a fragile beauty that provoked men's protective instincts. Hold up, wasn't that Ruby, William's first daughter?
It turned out that William had actually had a child with Catherine way before he even married Bethany; Harper's mother. Unfortunately, Ruby's health wasn't very good so she kept going in and out of the hospital, which made Harper unable to see her much.
Was this man her lover?
Everything turned out to be the truth. The man was the son of the Fletcher family and his name was Malcolm but everyone called him Mal instead. The Fletcher family had come to ask for Ruby's hand in marriage so Chloe decided to use the opportunity of Mal coming to the company to return in a high profile manner.
But the difference between the Fletcher and Carson family was like night and day so Harper was extremely confused. Why in the world would Mal be willing to lower his status to marry Ruby?
Lily who was standing beside Harper saw her friend lost in thought and looking confused so she decided to talk. "I'm not sure how true this is but I heard that your dad actually forced Mal to marry Ruby" "What? How?" "He managed to get the two of them in the same bed and arranged for a few reporters to take pictures. So..." "No way!" Harper was beyond stunned. William had actually used such a method to get the Fletchers to be his in-laws? He didn't even care about his own daughter's reputation?! Why,that was completely outrageous!
A white Bentley was in front of the company and the driver opened the door for the two people to get in. Ruby hurriedly helped Mal straighten his clothes but he lifted his hand to stop her. "You go get a taxi. I have something to do" "Mal,are you going to an hotel again? We're engaged now you need to stop-" "Shut up! Since when did you have the right to meddle in my affairs?" Mal lifted his hand and was about to slap Ruby when he suddenly felt a tightness in his neck!
