Chapter 30
Harper looked at the scene downstairs with shock. What was Harrison doing? Did he know who he was hitting? "What are you doing? Put me down right now!" Harrison pressed Mal's head against the car "Don't you dare touch her!" Harper ran down and she just happened to reach the scene when Harrison said those words. What in the world was going on? Why was Harrison protecting Ruby like that?
"Do you know who I am? I can get you fired from this company right away!" Harrison didn't listen but rather looked at Mal with a gaze so cold that he was instantly filled with fear "Listen to me. If you dare touch her like that one more time I'll break your neck!" He then released Mal and turned to leave. Harper tried to grab him but he was too fast.
Mal pushed Ruby away and said "Just you wait!" before getting into the car and leaving. The crowd exploded into a frenzy
"Is Harrison crazy? He actually dared to hit Mal Fletcher?" "That Whitney guy's way to arrogant and he dared to hit the son of the Fletcher family. He's really asking for trouble now!"
Harper listened to the crowd's whispers and she couldn't help but furrow her brows. She knew her husband well,he would never be willing to apologize to Mal. Now that William was out bargaining for a contract,she had to find a way to save her husband.
Harper looked at her phone and saw a message from Harrison:
"I'm fine,no need to worry about me. I made lunch, remember to eat on time when you get home"
Her heart warmed at the message but she soon became serious. Her husband needs her! She thought for a moment and took a leave from the HR department.
"Harper, Harrison beat Mal up and he said he isn't going to sign the contract with dad anymore. What are you going to do about this?" Harper didn't even look at Chloe and kept walking away.
"If you want to help Harrison, you should give him to me" What Chloe said made Harper stop in her tracks. She turned around and stared at Chloe with a gaze that was very similar to Harrison's stoic expression. Chloe was scared by her cold gaze but she composed herself and smiled. "What did you just say?!" "You heard me properly. I've had my eye on Harrison for a long time now. If you let him follow me,I'll help you out" "And what makes you think I'm going to do that?" "If you don't do so, he'll end up in jail" "Harrison won't end up in jail, because he has me"
Harper soon arrived at the Imperial Hotel. She looked up and saw Ruby who was surrounded by bodyguards. She wanted to go talk to her but the bodyguards assumed a defensive posture. "It's okay. She's my sister" The word sister made Harper give a soft smile. She didn't know why, but she couldn't bring herself to hate Ruby no matter how hard she tried. To Harper,Ruby was just as pitiful as she is, with Chloe being the only daughter William seemed to care about. "Is there a problem?" "Pardon me for disturbing you but... I really need your help"
