"You want me to plead for Harrison?" Ruby furrowed her brows "I'm really grateful for what Harrison did, and I can try to plead on his behalf but I don't have much say so I'm not so sure if dad'll listen to me. Sorry" "No it's fine" "Is there anything else I can do to help?" "Well..."
Harper was lost in thought as she was in the taxi on her way home. Ruby was really a pitiful person. Despite being William's first child she wasn't acknowledged at all, she was also weak in health and unable to work making her a tool for marriage.
Harrison didn't come home that night,Harper texted him but he replied saying he had something to do and that he wouldn't be able to come back home. She felt disappointed and had no other choice but to spend the night alone.
The next day, in the largest five-star hotel in the city...
The brightly lit lobby was bustling with several wealthy guests. A figure in a blue cleaning uniform and a black duckbill cap sneaked into the elevator with her head down. Harper lifted her head to reveal her beautiful face with hazel eyes that could capture one's soul. She had entered the hotel disguised as a cleaner so she could find someone.
The elevator made a ding sound and Harper got off. She was now standing on the top floor of the presidential suite. Everywhere was very quiet— you could hear a pin drop. The arrangements on this floor really made it stand out even more— they were fancier than those on the other floors.
A group of bodyguards passed by and she pretended to be a staff member, lowering her head and respectfully moving aside to make way for them.
"The CEO is in a bad mood, I've never seen him so angry before" "He'd been in a meeting all through the night and hadn't even slept a wink,of course he's mad" "There's been so many contracts to work on and the CEO is the only one doing all that. The workload is just too much"
Harper lifted her head as soon as the bodyguards were out of sight. The CEO of Whitney Corp was here — and he was the one she had come to see. Yesterday she had found out from Ruby that William had been trying to get the Fletcher Group to sign a contract with the company. She had once heard from Lily that Whitney Corp was looking for a clothing company to sign a contract with but didn't pay attention at the time. But she went online yesterday and saw that what her friend said was true. That's when she got an idea. She stayed up all night trying to draft the perfect contract. If she was lucky enough to get the CEO to sign it, William would forget what happened and he might just promote Harrison and give him a raise.
Harper had heard that the CEO of Whitney Corp had a bad reputation. He would have his bodyguards carry people out and break their legs. Harper touched her legs and gulped. She was really scared and she didn't want to lose her legs but this was probably her only chance to save her husband.
Harper turned her head to look around,there were a lot of rooms and she couldn't possibly go around asking for the CEO'S room right? Just then she heard the sound of footsteps "Hurry up, someone has infiltrated this floor!" "Who could be do bold as to try and do so?" "The CEO is in a really bad mood,we can't let him fire us. Let's catch the intruder quickly"
Upon hearing what the bodyguards said, Harper looked for somewhere to hide. She couldn't let those burly men drag her out before she even had a chance to talk to the CEO! Harper saw a room with the door open and quickly slipped in. She looked around and upon seeing that the room was empty,she closed the door. A figure came out and Harper was stunned when she lifted her head "H-Harrison?" She wasn't wrong,the figure she saw just now was really her husband. He was only wearing a bathrobe and his hair was wet,he was probably just coming out of the bathroom. But what was he doing here? "How did you-" "Who is there?" Harper heard a lady's voice and she looked up to see a lady looking disheveled and in wet clothes "I-Ivy?!"
