Chapter 40

~ A few hours later...~

Harper woke up to a very annoying beeping sound. Where was she? She looked at her surroundings and saw that she was in a ..hospital? How did she get here? That's when it all came rushing back to her. She'd been kidnapped by the hospital dean and Harrison came to save her. The dean had wanted to stab her but Harrison...

Harrison. Where was he? Was he okay now? Harper threw the covers off of herself and ran out of the ward barefoot. She saw a bunch of bodyguards in front of the door and she got confused. Where did they all come from? Were they the bodyguards working under Harrison? "Ma'am, you're awake?" Ma'am? Why were they calling her that? Harper didn't care though, they could call her by any title they wished. All she wanted to do was to see her husband

Harper just nodded at the man's question before asking "Where's Harrison? Is he okay?" "Well Ma'am, the boss" "What is it? What happened to Harrison?" The bodyguard simply kept quiet and didn't say a word. Harper stood in front of him and stretched her neck so she could get a good look at him "You tell me right now. What's wrong with my husband?!" "He's fine, just that he's in a coma"

Harper turned her head in the direction of the voice she heard and she saw a young man walking towards her. "Who are you?" "It's nice to meet you sister-in-law, I'm Kevin. Harrison's best friend" Kevin stretched out his hand for a handshake but Harper ignored it and stared at him instead "Where's Harrison? What happened to him?" "Ah yes. I guess you'd want to see him. He got surgery but he's in a coma at the moment. You need to get some rest as well seeing as you were in a coma as well" "How many days was I out?" "It's been three days" "I was out for three whole days?" "Yes, so was Harrison. He's still in a coma though. You're the first to wake up".

Harper couldn't be bothered by Kevin's words, she just wanted to see her husband! "Where's Harrison?" "Oh Harrison?" Kevin pointed at the door of the ward opposite Harper's "He's in there. Do you want to-" A figure rushed past Kevin like the wind and all he could see when turning his head was Harper closing the door. Kevin shook his head "Those two are crazy in love" Just then his phone started ringing and when he saw the caller id the smile on his face left. He turned to look at one of the bodyguards and instructed him to make sure that no one else was allowed access into Harrison's ward. He then answered the call as he walked out of the hospital "Grandma?"

Harper sat down beside Harrison's bed looking at him as he lay there in a coma. This man was crazy, she had wanted to divorce him and even said a lot of bad things to him but he refused to leave her. He had even saved her from getting stabbed but here he was,in a coma. Harper watched as his chest gently heaved up and down. She reached out her hand wanting to touch it but she moved her hand back, she most definitely didn't want his wounds to open.

"Gosh can't believe I'm actually doing this. Harrison, can you hear me? Please—just… please hear me.

You’re such a strange man. You know that? I tried to leave you. I wanted to divorce you. I said such cruel, horrible things. And yet... you stayed. You stayed.

You saved me. You threw yourself in front of that knife. You almost died for me.

Why?

Why would you do that for someone like me?

What have I ever done to deserve you?

But it doesn’t matter anymore. None of it does.

I don’t care about Ivy. I don’t care what happened. You don’t have to explain. You don’t have to say a single word. I should’ve trusted you. I should’ve looked at your eyes and seen the truth—that you hadn’t done anything wrong. That you were hurting too.

But I was too stubborn. Too proud. And too damn scared.

You probably think I’m stupid, don’t you?

Harrison...

You’re the only man I’ve ever loved.

Please… I’m begging you—come back to me.

I don’t care how broken I am. I’ll put myself back together if it means I get to see you smile again.

I swear, I’ll be better.

Just… just wake up. Please. Wake up."

Harper held Harrison's hand and her soft sobs were the only thing that could be heard in the room. That's when she heard a voice "Har-Harper"
