Chapter 42

Harrison was about to get off the bed but Gertrude raised her hand to stop him. "It's okay Harrison. There's no need to stand up. And who's this lady with you?" Harper immediately stood up "Good afternoon ma'am, nice to meet you. I'm Harper Carson" "My grandson's wife?" "Yes ma'am" "So, you're the reason my grandson got injured uh?" "Y-yes ma'am I'm so-" "Grandma, you're scaring her" "Am I? I was only asking your wife a few questions" "Grandma!" Harrison turned to look at Harper with a small smile "You go get some rest love, I'll be here with grandma" "O-okay".

Harper didn't really know why,but Harrison's grandma seemed quite creepy. Her cold gaze reminded her of Harrison's, no other she couldn't bear to look at her! She carefully left the ward and Gertrude watched as Harrison's gaze followed her until she closed the door, shaking her head. Harrison finally shifted his gaze from the door and he looked at Gertrude "What's the matter grandma?"

Harper came in about half an hour later and saw her husband lost in thought while sitting on the bed. "Harrison?" Harrison didn't react so Harper walked closer to him and tapped him on the shoulder, calling his name louder than before "Harrison?!" He finally snapped out of his thoughts and looked at her with a faint smile "Yes love?" "You seemed really lost in thought just now,are you okay?" "Yes love, I'm fine" "Are you sure?" "Of course I am. Come here" Harrison patted the space next to him on the bed and Harper sat down. As soon as she did, Harrison laid down and hugged Harper to himself so she was also lying down with her head on his chest.

"Hey Harrison?" "Hmm?" "What did your grandma say to you?" "Why'd you ask? You seem scared of her" "Well yeah.. I'm sorry I'm saying this but, she seems a bit creepy" "There's no need to be scared of her, she's actually really friendly" "Oh. So, what'd she say?" "Nothing really, she just told me to be extra careful" "Oh, okay" "Now sleep, you seem really tired" "Hmm"

Harper snuggled into Harrison's arms and she fell asleep as he gently patted her back. Harrison looked at her sleeping face as Gertrude's words echoed in his head "Didn't you say you want to divorce Harper? You need to do that quickly and come back home, your grandfather's already picked a lady for you; she's from a really good family background. You do know what'll happen if you don't listen to your grandfather, right? Harper or the family, you have to make a choice Harrison"

Harrison pulled Harper closer as he also drifted off to sleep. He couldn't give up on the company,it was his mother's lifelong work that got it standing where it was today, he couldn't give up on Harper,he had just gotten her back and he couldn't bear to lose her. So,he has no other choice but to choose both. And he was going to succeed, failure is not in his dictionary!
