Chapter 44

"What did you say happened to my grandmother?!" "Sir, it was your stepmother who provoked her on purpose, causing her blood pressure to rise so she..." Harrison ended the call and the look on his face was extra gloomy.

Harper pulled her husband's sleeve gently causing him to turn his head and look at her "Harrison, what's wrong?" "My grandma.." "What's wrong with grandma?" "She's in the hospital" "What? How did-" "I don't know"

Harper saw the worry on Harrison's face and couldn't help but furrow her brows "Harrison, are you-" "I need to go see my grandma" "I'll go with-" Harper was reminded of how coldly Gertrude looked at her and she shivered unconsciously "I'll stay back" "You don't want to come with me?" "I do, but your grandma doesn't seem to like me that much. If I go with you, there's no telling what'll happen" Harper was right. Gertrude didn't like her that much and now that she was ill, seeing Harper could agitate her and cause her illness to be aggravated. "Well ok, I'll go alone then" "Hmm. Take it easy okay? I'm sure grandma will be fine"

"So your husband's grandma is at the hospital and you didn't go with him?" "Yup" "Why not?" Harrison had gone to Willowbrook, and Tina came over to keep Harper company at home. Tina didn't see Harrison at home and asked Harper where he had gotten to, so she asked.

"I told you Tina, his grandma's creepy. Remember that movie we watched the other day where the rich woman didn't like the woman her son said he wants to marry?" "Yeah?" "That look she gave her,was the exact same look she gave me. I couldn't help but get shivers down my spine!" "That's crazy" "I know right?" "Wait,go back,go back!" "What?" Harper changed the tv channel back to the previous one and a footage of an old lady being wheeled into an ambulance was being shown. Harper stared at the old lady and was lost in thought. The woman seemed awfully familiar, where had she seen her before?

"I can't believe this!" "What is it?" "Didn't you hear what the news reporter said? The heir of the Whitney family refused to get married, causing his grandma to end up in the hospital! Woah that guy's crazy. He could have just said he didn't want to get married. Why'd he have to do that to his grandma?" "I think he had a good reason for not wanting to get married" "What good reason could there possibly be? He probably hasn't had enough time playing with women!" "Yeah, yeah whatever"

WILLOWbrOOK CITY...

"What are your orders boss?" "Doesn't Julia have a younger brother who loves gambling? How much does he owe?" "Well, he owes about ten million dollars but if we add up the interest rate... Julian owes a debt of four hundred million dollars" "Make him pay up" "Yes sir"

Harrison had arrived at Willowbrook City, only to be told that his stepmother Julia wanted to go to the hospital where his grandmother was with a lawyer so as to change her will. Her younger brother Julian had a crazy addiction for gambling but he always ended up losing the money. The money he owed was nothing to him of course, but he couldn't let that woman treat the Whitney family like an ATM as she wished.

Harrison's mother had died when he was only seven years old and since then his father started to neglect him, even going as far as to marry someone who maltreated him and his younger sister. His grandmother was the one taking care of them ever since. Since Julia dared to touch his grandmother, he was going to teach her a lesson! "Boss, do you want to go see your grandmother now?" "Go back to Aurora City, I'm taking Harper with me" "Sir?" A simple glance from Harrison made Clyde shiver all over "Yes sir!"

Harper was sleeping when she suddenly felt someone looming over her. She opened her eyes amd breathed a sigh of relief when she saw Harrison. "Did I scare you?" "No. Are you okay?" "I'm fine" Harrison laid beside Harper and wrapped his arms around her waist bringing her closer "How's grandma?" "She's not too well, the doctor said we should prepare for the worst case scenario— she may never wake up" "Oh dear, are you sure you're fine?" "I'm fine love. D- do you want to go see her?" "Why not?" "Are you sure?" "Hmm. You're my husband so your family's my family. Let's go"
