Chapter 46

Harper was left alone with Gertrude in the hospital ward for a while but she soon heard the door open. She wiped her tears as she turned to look at Harrison, she didn't want him to know that she'd been crying. She took the takeout from him "I'll stay here with grandma, you can go sleep outside"

Harrison was still in shock as Harper pushed him out of the ward and slammed it shut before locking it from the inside. He knocked on the door several times but Harper didn't reply. When Harrison turned around and saw several assistants and bodyguards, he knew he had lost face in front of his subordinates yet again. "Harper, won't you at least let me in to have dinner?" Just then the door opened and something flew out of the room. Harrison instinctively caught it and he realized it was the takeout. This woman was crazy! Even if there's an argument between them, couldn't she let him in for dinner? His grandmother was in there!

A few minutes later, the billionaire CEO of the Whitney Corporation squatted in front of the ward while eating takeout without any expression. The bodyguards and assistants around were looking at him while trying very hard to stifle their laughter. This was the kind of thing that only happens once in a lifetime. If they weren't afraid of being caught and losing their jobs, they would have made a video and posted it on the company's group chat!

In the ward, Harper was done taking care of Gertrude and she turned her head to see the takeout on the food but she had no appetite. Her heart felt like a seasoning bottle that had toppled over, with several emotions showing up at the same time. She felt very tired and soon fell asleep with red eyes.

The door made a creak sound and Harrison walked in. He saw his wife who had slept off by his grandmother's bed and walked towards her before lifting her in his arms. He gently placed her on the accompanying bed and he removed her shoes before tucking her in. He looked at the takeout on the table with a furrowed brow before looking at his wife again. She was extremely jealous and he had no idea. Ladies easily get jealous and it was almost the same method that their men used to calm them. But his wife wasn't like other women, she was very different. What was he going to do to cheer her up now?

Early the next day Harper woke up to find herself on the bed. Just as she was about to get up, she smelled a faint fragrance. Harper turned her head and was stunned. In front of her was a beautiful vase with several pink roses! Harper had always loved pink roses since she was a child, the only problem is that they were not so easy to find in Aurora city. She remembered telling Harrison about it once, could he have remembered?

At that moment, Harrison's voice came in from above her head "You're up? Have some water first" Harper looked up to see Harrison who was holding a cup of warm water in front of her. She reached out for it,but was stunned when she looked at her hand. On her ring finger was a small platinum ring with a finely crushed diamond and sapphire shining brightly. She saw the same kind of ring on Harrison's ring finger as well, simple in style with no decorations.

Harrison saw Harper's reaction and he placed the cup in her hand and pulled a chair to sit in front of her "The fiancee was arranged for me after we got married and I had no idea about it. Okay now?" His gaze was fixed on Harper with his grey eyes holding only her reflection. Her hazel eyes were still hazy from her just waking up,her hair was messy and there was a faint blush on her cheeks. Harper was biting down on her pink lips due to anger and Harrison's Adam's apple couldn't help but slide down when his gaze landed on them.

Harper blinked at Harrison as she stretched out her hand "Who asked you to put this on me?" He furrowed his brows upon her question "Don't you want it? Should I take it off for you?" Harper immediately put her hand behind her back "Who said I don't want it? Besides, it's not polite to take something back from the person you gave it to" "Very well then, the ring is now yours. Grandma's the witness. You're Mrs Whitney, so you can take it off and put it on anytime you wish" Harrison smiled at Harper causing her to blush. She took a piece of candy from the side of her pillow and threw it into her mouth. She had no idea how the candy got there, Harrison probably put it beside her pillow last night. She touched the ring on her finger and stole a glance at the ring on Harrison's as she shook her head in her mind. Who puts a ring on his wife's finger when she's asleep? This guy's way of doing things is quite... unique

She pretended to be angry. "Who puts a ring on their wife like this? There's no sense of ceremony" "You're right" Harper saw Harrison move towards her and before she could regain her senses, she was pinned to the bed "Harrison you-" She wasn't able to finish before Harrison pecked her on the lips. It was just a short peck, but she was stunned. Harrison had actually done that on his own free will! She blushed as she looked up at him "My wife is really sweet" The way he'd said those words and his gaze made Harper blush even more "I-I'm eating candy" "Is that so? Let me try"

Harper watched as Harrison left and she touched her lips. Harrison had actually kissed her! As she adjusted her clothes, she felt something was off. She remembered seeing an old lady being wheeled into an ambulance and realized that she looked exactly like Harrison's grandmother! How could that be? Harper turned to look at Gertrude and she was stunned. The old lady who had been lying down on the bed in a coma was now looking straight at her with cloudy eyes!
