Chapter 48

Hi guys, I'm back ^?_?^

"Y-you- what did you say?" "I said I've worked in that kind of industry before" Harrison paused for a moment before looking at Harper again "Actually, I was pretty good at it, do you want to try?" "You- good at-" Harper felt like a seasoning bottle had toppled over in her heart, with several emotions coming up at the same time, with jealousy and sadness being the most prominent ones. The thought of Harrison being hugged by a group of older women and sleeping with them made her heart ache. She looked up with red eyes but was stunned. Where was Harrison? Had she made her disgust too obvious? She shouldn't have done that,he probably did that because he had no other choice!

Harper kept searching for Harrison but the crowd made it difficult for her to find him "Harrison, Harrison!" She suddenly bumped into a wall and turned around to see Harrison who was staring blankly at her "Were you looking for me?" Harper rushed up to him and held his hand "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have thought that way. You probably had no choice back then..." Harper kept talking unaware of the imperceptible smile that flashed by in Harrison's eyes. She tightly held onto his sleeve,as if afraid that he would disappear "Where were you?" "I went to buy a chicken" "Uh?"

Harper's mind went blank as she stared at the plastic bag in Harrison's hand "You once asked me if I know how to make chicken soup. I'm pretty good at it, so let's go. I'll make you some when we get back" Harrison walked away and Harper stared at his back before she realized something. He had actually teased her! He was usually very quiet but he actually used such a thing to tease her?!

"You!" Harper had lifted her arm and was just about to hit Harrison before he took her hand in this. She struggled to free her hand but he just held it tighter "Don't get lost, there's a lot of people here" As he spoke he walked forward, and Harper had no other choice but to follow him. Harrison stared at her following him with puffed up cheeks and he couldn't help but smile. He held her hand even tighter as they walked out of the market. By this time, Harper was no longer angry and she now felt a sweetness in her heart, wanting to hold hands with him like this forever.

"Mr Whitney, your grandmother's fine now,she can be moved to a regular ward" "Thank you for your work" "It's my pleasure" Gertrude turned to look at Harrison as soon as the doctor left. "Where's Harper?" "She's sleeping next door. She's not been sleeping well for the past few days" "Hmm, she's also lost weight from taking care of me these past few days" Gertrude paused for a moment before looking up at her grandson "Do you really think I don't know what you're doing? You had Harper take care of me so I can see how good she is, right?" "Grandma, could you do me a favor?" "What is it?" "Could you help me cancel the engagement?" "Before I answer that, let me ask you something. Have you fallen in love with Harper?"

"Well, I-" "I know, Harper's a good girl but Harrison, you're the heir of the Whitney family while she has a simple family background. There's no way she can help you in the future" "There's no need for her to help, she just needs to stay by my side"

"Tsk, what has gotten into you?" Gertrude stared at the bowl of chicken soup on the table "I'm afraid if it weren't for Harper, I wouldn't taste your food until I die!" "Grandma, that's not true!" "Oh shut up boy. And didn't you dig up the only surviving pink roses in your mother's garden to appease her? If you act like this it means that you have her in your heart" "So can you-" "I'm afraid not. You know how Alfred is, he won't listen to me in times like this. You have to make a decision Harrison".
