Chapter 56

"Grandfather" "You know how to come back?" Harrison simply stared at the seventy-year-old man seated behind a polished mahogany desk. Alfred Whitney didn’t look his age—his sharp eyes scanned a book without even needing glasses. "I found Ruby so I thought I'd bring her home" Alfred sprung up from where he was sitting "You found Ruby? Well then where is she?" She's with grandma" "That's good, how is she?" "She's doing well" Alfred sat back down upon hearing the good news. "That's good. Since that matter's been settled, it's time to talk about something else that's very important". Someone knocked on the door before coming in, and Harrison was stunned. "Jade Bell?" Alfred saw Harrison's reaction and he frowned "Why are you looking at your fiancee like that?"

Harrison knew the lady who came in quite well as they had known each other from childhood. She liked him a lot; but to put it in a better way she was very much obsessed with him. Harrison never liked her of course, he'd never liked a woman before, Harper was the only one and things were going to stay that way until the day he dies. Jade had gone to London for her education and Harrison thought that would be the last of her but who would have thought?

"Grandfather, may I ask why she's my fiancee? The Whitney family is most definitely more powerful than the Bell family so I don't think we need to form any alliance with them" "How could you speak of her like that? Watch your language boy! Don't you know she's the girl that saved your life all those years ago?!"

Harrison paused for a moment. She was the one who saved his life?

Some time around seven years ago, Harrison had been involved in a car accident. If it weren't for a certain lady who had managed to break the car window and pull him out of the car, he would have kicked the bucket. He'd been searching for the lady ever since, wanting to thank her for saving his life. But now his grandfather was saying that Jade was the lady who saved him?

He clearly remembered the scent that lady gave off, it was of baby's milk. Jade most definitely didn't give off that scent, she always smelled like someone who'd applied too much perfume which was one of the reasons he didn't like standing close to her. He also remembered faintly seeing some sort of birthmark on the lady's wrist before he completely lost consciousness. Jade's wrists were completely devoid of any birthmark. Hold up, doesn't Harper smell of milk? And she also has a small birthmark on her wrist! No way, was Harper the one who...

Harrison's train of thoughts were stopped by his grandfather who slapped his palm on the table "What are you thinking about? Go attend to your fiancee!" "Sorry grandfather,I have to go" "Harrison!" He turned around and glanced at Jade "Sorry Miss Bell, but I already have a wife. I only plan to marry one woman in my entire life. Please don't hang yourself on a crooked tree and find someone else. My younger brother Jason is also available" Jade looked at Harrison's figure as he left with shock. He wants her to marry his younger brother? That's simply outrageous! Jason was Harrison's younger brother but they only shared a father. His mother is Julia, Harrison's stepmother. Alfred never hated him, but never really approved of him as his grandson.

"Harrison Sage Whitney, you get back here right now!" But it was too late, Harrison had already left the study. "This boy!" Alfred turned to look at Jade "I'm so sorry dear, he's been--" "It's okay grandfather, I know he may have been confused by that woman but he'll soon come back to his senses. I'll wait for him" Alfred nodded as he smiled "Good girl" But he didn't notice the crazed look in Jade's eyes. 'Harrison, I'm going to do everything in my capability to make sure you're mine, even if it means destroying that so called wife of yours!'

Lewis; Harrison's father came into the study soon after Jade left "Dad..." "What is it?!" "Harrison's refusing to listen to you, you should take away his rights as the heir to the company!" "Oh? Then who should I give them to?" "Well of course you should give them to Jason, he's much better than Harrison" "Shut up! Do you really think I don't know what that woman's planning? There's no way I'm letting the son of a concubine inherit the family!" "But dad--" "Shut up and get out!" Alfred didn't hear the sound of the door like he'd expected so he looked up and saw Lewis still standing there like a statue. "I told you to get out!" "Well dad, I have some bills to pay, will you--" "I said get out!"

After Lewis left, Alfred rubbed his temples in anger. How could he have such a son? Even his grandchild was more responsible than him, taking over the company at the young age of sixteen. What was that idiot doing with his life?!

~AURORA CITY ~

The two friends Harper and Lily turned to look at each other in horror. "What did you say?" "Lauren's the lost heiress of the Whitney family?!"
