"Lauren Spencer?!" Lauren turned her head and when her gaze landed on Harper,she smirked before walking off. Catherine came in soon after, knocking on an empty desk with a huge smile on her face. Harper was very confused. Her only daughter that she loved very much was in jail —and there were no chances of her getting out anytime soon. How could Catherine still smile in this kind of situation?
She didn't have to wonder long
"Listen up, everyone!" Catherine announced. "I have a very important announcement. Lauren is now officially back to working with the company. Oh, and one more thing—she’s the lost heiress of the Whitney family! So do help take care of her"
Lily and Harper who were standing close turned to look at each other in horror "What?" "Lauren's the lost heiress of the Whitney family?!"
Harper had heard it a few weeks ago from Lily; the news of the Whitney family finding the daughter that had gone missing several years ago. She also heard that she'd been found,but Harper never expected it to be Lauren! So that's why Catherine was all smiles,she was probably planning to use Lauren's influence to get Chloe out of jail. But how in the world could Lauren be the Whitney family's heiress? It makes absolutely no sense. Hold up a sec, Harrison's from the Whitney family and he'd also been looking for Ruby for quite a while. No way! Was she actually... No way,it was probably just a coincidence, right?
Harper was pulled out of her thoughts when she heard someone call for her. She looked up and saw Lauren smirking "I've been away for quite a while and my skills have gotten a bit rusty. Do you mind if I chose someone to be my assistant?" "Of course not. You're my goddaughter Lauren,feel free to do anything you want!" Goddaughter? Catherine was such a bootlicker! Lauren had wanted to be Catherine's goddaughter for a while, atleast that's what Lily told her but Catherine always refused. Now Lauren's identity had changed, and Catherine was beyond happy to refer to her as her goddaughter! But why did she feel like something wasn't quite right?
"Miss Harper,do you mind being my assistant?" Lauren made the request sweetly, but the look in her face was far from sweet. There was a hidden malice in her gaze, almost as if she was declaring war! Harper didn't even say a word and turned around to leave "Harper, take one more step and you're fired!" "It's okay aunt, there's no need to be so harsh" She still had plenty of time and could torture Harper slowly. She was going to get revenge for what Harper did to her!
Someone knocked on Harper's desk and gave her a letter. "Miss Lauren's been assigned to this design team as the group leader and you're to be her personal assistant attending to all her needs. The person left and Lily looked at the letter before scrunching up her nose "That isn't fair at all! Lauren's probably just trying to bully you!" "Well then,I won't let her. Please help me give this to Mr Carson" "You're going on leave?" "That's right. I've been working on countless designs here for months, it's time for me to take a break". Harper picked up her bag and left after saying her goodbyes to Lily. She wasn't going to let some 'family heiress' bully her as she wished.
Harper looked at the figure that came in with a smile "Baby girl" "I've missed you so much!"
