Chapter 59

"What the heck?!" "What happened dear?" "Apparently, the Carson family wants to hold some sort of 'ceremony' for Lauren" "Oh?" "That's not the crazy part, the real crazy part is that they invited us over to the ceremony!" "What?!" "Mr Carson said we're also part of the family so we should come partake in the honor. Does he think we're dumb?" Even an idiot would know what William was trying to do right? It was quite clear he invited them to see how he'd rise in glory.

His daughter was in jail and even if she was able to get out; her reputation had already been ruined and it would be hard for her to live a good life in the future unless she goes to another city where no one knows anything about her. He was probably trying to get Harper and Bethany to beg him to accept them back into the family. Well, they don't need him!

In the Carson family mansion...

"Sir, Miss Carson sent a reply to your message..." "Really? Well then give me the phone!" "Here it is sir" "I'm sure she will be ecstatic to... Not interested?!"

William looked at the words on his phone with rage. How could that girl defy him? He is her father! Very well, after the CEO of Whitney Corp comes tomorrow and he takes Lauren back home as his sister, the Carson family was definitely going to rise in glory. Even if she and her mother begged for days he was most definitely not allowing them to associate themselves as part of the family anymore!

Catherine watched in the shadows as William left the living room in anger. Was that man trying to get Harper back into the family?! That damn girl, as soon as she gets her Chloe out of jail, she was going to make her suffer!

Two days later...

"Harrison!" Harper jumped into her husband's waiting arms and she wrapped her arms around his waist tightly while breathing in his relaxing scent. "Easy there baby girl, missed me that much?" "No!" Harper let go of Harrison and turned to leave but he pulled her into his arms. Harper looked up at him with puffed up cheeks and he tapped her nose before smiling. "But I missed you" Harper sniffled before hugging Harrison tightly again. She was joking just now. He had been gone for two days, but it felt like forever to her!

Harper stood frozen, her eyes locked onto her husband like he was the star of some forbidden daydream. Harrison had just stepped out of the shower, a single towel hanging low on his hips, clinging to his body in a way that left very little to the imagination. Droplets of water glistened on his bronze skin, slowly trickling down his firm chest, tracing the grooves of his eight-pack abs like they knew exactly what they were doing. His damp hair framed his sharp jawline, and every lazy step he took toward her screamed temptation.

She gulped and spun around, ready to bolt.

But she didn’t make it far.

In one smooth motion, Harrison caught her wrist and spun her back around, crashing her gently against his chest. His hand slipped around her waist, gripping her with firm possession as he leaned in with a smirk playing on his lips.

"Running again, baby girl?" he whispered, voice husky, droplets of water brushing her cheek from his still-damp hair.

"I wasn’t—" she started, flustered, but his fingers slid under her chin, tilting her gaze up to meet his.

"Blushing like that?" His eyes dropped to her lips, then lower, right where the faint red mark he’d left that morning still lingered on her neck. His smirk deepened. "You didn’t seem so shy when I left this behind."

Harper’s breath hitched. "You said it wouldn’t be visible!"

"It wasn’t supposed to be." He leaned in, brushing his lips along her neck, his voice a low rumble. "But maybe... I wanted someone to notice."

"Harrison..." she breathed, her fingers curling against his bare chest as he pressed his body against hers, towel and all.

"I missed you," he whispered, pulling her even closer. He kissed Harper on the forehead and pulled her into his arms, before kissing her soft shampoo scented hair. "Are you okay?" "Yeah. Just stay still, I wanna hold you for a while"

Before Harrison came back, he'd made some research about the accident he had those years ago and he was right, Harper was the one who saved his life. God was really good to him, sending her his way. If someone told him eight months ago that he would be head over heels in love with a woman,he would have seen that person as a huge idiot. But now, he had found Harper and he was never going to let go.
