Chapter 65

Bethany saw Robert's raised palm and turned her head in fear. Then she felt a pair of arms wrap around her. "Dad?" Robert had actually hugged her? "Welcome home my little baby" Bethany slowly wrapped her arms around her dad and hugged him back while sobbing "I'm sorry dad, I'm so sorry"...

Harper looked around and couldn't help but marvel at the mansion. This mansion was huge and beautiful! Was this the kind of place where Harrison lived? Harper became sad at the thought of Harrison. What was he doing now? Was he searching for her in hopes of reconciliation, or was he waiting for the divorce papers to finally put an end to their relationship? She was snapped out of her reverie when Robert furiously slapped his palm on the coffee table "He did what to you? That Carson family boy, I'm going to make sure to destroy him and that stupid family of his!" "Dad! You need to take it easy" "Take it easy? Take it easy?! There's no way I'm just going to sit back and watch calmly after all that idiot has done to you! I'm going to avenge you and my precious granddaughter!" "Dad please,I don't want a bloodbath!" "B-b-bloodbath?"

Bethany wasn't exaggerating, Robert could really cause a bloodbath if he wanted to. He once served in the military as a general, and everyone feared him, even the mere mention of his name would have grown men peeing their pants. He was a very dangerous man and if he wanted to destroy a family there was going to be war and not just any war, a bloody war. Bethany loathed William but; there were actually some good people in that family. If Robert destroyed the Carson family, wouldn't the innocent people suffer as well?

"Grandpa, you can't do that!" Robert's anger subsided at the sound of Harper's voice. She called him grandpa! He could finally show off to his friends who had grandkids that he had a beautiful granddaughter!

He didn't want her to know he was excited of course so he arched a brow and turned to look at her "Oh? Why is that? Are you trying to defend your father?" "No! And please don't call him my father, he doesn't deserve it! And besides,he disowned me as his daughter" "He disowned you? When was that?" "Last week" "Last week? Wasn't that when-" "Yeah mom it was a day to that banquet" "Oh?" "Hmm"

"Well then it's a good thing. We can change your last name" "Really grandpa?" "Uh uh" "That'll be great!" Harper Hawkins, it had a nice ring to it. She loves it,but not as much as she loved having the last name Whitney-- oh that's right, she was going to get divorced in a few days. Why was life so cruel to her?

Diane looked at her granddaughter who was lost in thought and couldn't help but ask "Harper,is anything wrong?" "Oh? No, no I'm fine" "You said William held a banquet?" "Yes" "What sort of banquet could that idiot possibly hold?" "Well he thought he'd found Harrison Whitney's sister and held a banquet to celebrate so he could come take her home; he was also hoping to reap some benefits from it. Unfortunately, the so called heiress he thought he'd found was a fake, Harrison had already found Ruby a few days before. A lot of things happened that day, but let me just end it by saying that William Carson is now completely done for" "Really?" "That's right grandpa" "That's good really good. So this also means Alfred's granddaughter is back! That stinky man, he didn't even tell me!"

Robert picked up his phone and was just about to dial Alfred's number when Diane stopped him. "Hold on a minute there Robert, Harper called Alfred's grandchildren by their names, almost as if she knows them" "You're right! Harper, how did you get to know Harrison and Ruby?" "Well,I-" "What's the matter?" "Harrison, well he's my husband" "What?!" "Yes but... We'll be getting divorced soon" "Why is that?" "He, well he didn't tell me about his identity, I thought he was a bodyguard" "That Whitney family boy kept you in the dark all this time?! How dare he do that to my precious granddaughter?! I'm going to kill him!"

Robert stood up in anger and the butler came in announcing someone's arrival. Harrison walked in and when Robert's gaze landed on him, he pulled out his rifle he always kept with him and pointed it straight at him!
