I’m wearing my favorite turquoise dress, the one the saleslady said matches my eyes, walking into the immaculately decorated ballroom for the Children’s Hospital annual charity event. I’m with my friends. They’re with their spouses, and I’m alone, as always.

I take in my surroundings. This is one of the nicest country clubs in all of Philadelphia, and no expense was spared in making this party extraordinary. From the bright hydrangea flowers to the centerpieces, candles, and elegant ivory linens, everything is whimsical and beautiful.

I can hear the chatter of my friends, but I’m not listening. My attention is elsewhere because I feel Jett’s presence in my bones. The room is large, and I have no idea where he’s seated, but goosebumps spread all over my skin knowing those sexy green eyes are on me.

I begin to scan the room through hundreds of people until I see him in his tuxedo, standing with a group. He’s hard to miss, being tall, broad, and so gorgeous he takes my breath away. Jett Jeffries was born to stand out.

I remember last year when we were at this event and outside on the balcony. When I turned around and saw him, I thought it was James Bond himself. He’s perfect. I’m convinced no sexier man exists on this planet.

His eyes rake over my body, and his tongue darts out before sweeping across his lower lip. I can feel my insides liquefy as I think about what that tongue has done to my body.

Can electricity travel between two people standing this far apart? It sure feels like it. The pull to him is so damn strong. There could be thousands of people here and we’d still find each other. We’re soulmates.

I can tell he’s thinking the same thing. His fists ball at his sides, and his Adam’s apple bobs up and down. His eyes are penetrating. Even from over fifty feet away, they’re practically fucking me.

He pulls out his phone from his pants pocket. I can’t help but smile as he removes his reading glasses and places them on his face. God I love those glasses on him.

He begins typing. Within seconds, I feel my phone vibrating in my purse. I open my bag and pull it out.

Jett: Meet me at our spot. Right now.

I look up at him and nod before I see him move toward the doors that lead out to the balcony. I can’t help but smile. That’s where we met that first night.

I look at my friends and hold up my phone. Knowing they’ll disapprove, I say, “I need to make a quick call. I’ll meet you at the table.”

Without bothering to listen for a response, I make my way toward the same set of doors I ran through to escape my friends last year. I practically trip over my high heels as I sprint to get to my love. I’m desperate to have his hands on me. Seven weeks is a long time to go without him.

Pushing open the glass doors, I’m hit with the thickness of the late summer evening air. Before I can finish my first step, I’m grabbed from the side, spun around, and pinned to the textured concrete wall.

I not only feel his big body on mine, but I can feel his erection. He’s always so damn hard for me. Only me.

He pins my wrists above my head with one hand, and with the other, his fingers trace along my collarbone, eliciting fiery shivers from my skin. Liquid lust immediately floods my panties.

He bends until his lips brush across mine, and he breathes into them, “You are, without a doubt, the sexiest woman in existence,” before his tongue prods and then pushes its way into my mouth.

I melt into him, desperate for his touch. It feels like forever since he last touched me. There is nothing I wouldn’t let this man do to me right now. I’m so hopelessly head over heels in love with him. I thought I loved fully before, but this is different. I physically can’t live without him.

He kisses me like there’s no tomorrow. Like he needs to taste all of me. Like he’s been thinking about doing this to me all day and can’t get enough.

Without releasing my wrists or my mouth, his other hand moves first to my breasts and then slowly runs down my body until it’s under my dress.

I can feel the backs of his fingers trickling up my bare inner thigh, and I moan into his mouth. I instinctively spread my legs a bit, wanting him to touch me where I crave him the most. His ascent is so damn slow that my body begins to physically shake in anticipation.

After what seems like forever, his fingertips finally run across the apex of my thighs, and now it’s his turn to let out a moan. “Hmm, you’re so wet, angel face. Your panties are drenched for me.”

I try to pull my hands away, wanting to touch him, but he tightens his grip on them. He knows how much I get off on being restrained.

“Touch me,” I beg with urgency. “I need you inside me.”

He slides my panties to the side before one finger runs through me and then slowly into me. I let out a gasp at the long-missed intrusion. I’m confident I’ve never been more turned on in my life.

He breathes, “I’ve missed being inside this creamy cunt.”

His dirty words, the thrill of being in public, my love for him, and my insatiable desire for him all bring me to the brink in record time. My body convulses around his finger, but it’s not enough. I need all of him.

“Get inside me,” I mumble into his mouth. “All of you. Every long, thick inch.”

His eyes widen. “Are you sure? Someone could walk outside at any moment.”

How is he so damn calm and aware? I don’t know what planet I’m on, let alone our precise logistics.

“Please,” I plead. “I don’t care about anyone else. I can’t go another second without you.” Why am I so desperate for him?

He briefly glances toward the doors we came through before releasing my wrists. Without any hesitation, I frantically move them to his pants as I scramble to release the massive hard-on that looks like it might break through the material at any moment.

While I work to free him, he lifts the bottom of my dress and then tears my panties straight off my body as if they’re paper. I love his brute strength.

He brings them to his nose and audibly inhales them. “Hmm, so good,” he growls.

I stand there slack-jawed at the deeply erotic move, but he smirks. “I’m keeping these.”

As soon as he places them in his pants pocket, I finally release his erection. It smacks onto his stomach with a loud thud. It’s big, hard, and glistening. My mouth waters. Part of me wants to drop to my knees to take him in my mouth, but I know time is tight and we need to move this along.

I climb him like a monkey, and he chuckles at my enthusiasm. I’m able to wrap my legs around his waist. I can feel his warm cock run through my center until his tip is at my entrance.

He nibbles on my lower lip. “No, angel face, I’m in charge.”

He pulls me off him and violently turns me around, pinning my front to the wall. I feel the air when he lifts the back of my dress before a hard smack to my ass comes out of nowhere, causing me to gasp.

His warm mouth meets my ear. “Spread your legs, angel face. Daddy Jett is coming home.”

I immediately spread them and stick out my ass, nearly orgasming when I feel the hint of his tip at my entrance.

In one hard thrust of his hips, he slides all the way inside me. We both release a series of indecipherable noises at the overwhelming sensation of finally being reunited after so damn long.

He whispers, “I feel like I can breathe again when I’m inside you. When we’re one. I found—”

“I found her,” I hear Tanner’s voice yell out as he opens my bedroom door, letting the highly intrusive sunlight crack through from the hallway.

Nooo. I don’t want to wake up. I need this dream to survive. I’m starting to forget what his hands felt like on my body. I don’t want to forget the feeling of being so beautifully worshiped.

Every night I dream of him. It feels so real. It’s always at the charity event. The night I thought changed my life for the better, but it turns out to have ruined it.

My eyes peel open, and I see my ex-husband standing there, breaking me from my slumber.

Wait, why is Tanner in my bedroom? Am I still dreaming?

I lift my head and croak out, “What’s going on?”

“The school called when they couldn’t get in touch with you. You missed pickup today.”

“But I just dropped her off,” I mumble, feeling very confused.

He looks at me with concern etched all over his handsome face. “That was eight hours ago. Have you been in bed this whole time?”

I’m silent. The past seven weeks have been a blur. It’s like I know life goes on, but I’m just hovering above it, watching everyone move forward when I can’t manage to do the same.

I put on my big girl pants for our team’s victory parade. I put them on again for that first week when Bailey needed help with the babies. But since then, I’ve been doing my best to stay afloat and failing miserably. I’m not sure I have any tears left. I’ve shed enough for two lifetimes.

Jett came by once, shortly after that fateful night.

He apologized for scaring Harper. No apology for how he spoke to me or the things he said.

No conversation to clarify things. No attempt to reconcile.

Just for it all going down in front of my little girl.

We’re well and truly over. It’s a pain I didn’t know existed, not even after my divorce.

My friends have been taking turns stopping by, but I send them away. I need to be alone. Hell, I need to get used to being alone again.

I’ve given up some of my custodial nights so Harper can stay with the babies. She was missing them when she was here, and this house is a lot more depressing than Tanner’s. It’s best for her to spend the majority of her time there until I get my shit together. If I get my shit together.

Tanner walks over, pulls down the blanket, and lifts me out of bed like a baby. My head falls lifelessly to his chest. Ohh, I miss Jett’s broad chest. It was my sleeping nook. And it always smelled so good.

Looking toward the door, he says, “Can you draw her a bath?”

I hear Bailey’s voice. “Of course. I’ll stay and help her.”
