Chapter 17 Parental Blessing
Ji Chengzhou strolled in with that lazy gait of his. Standing with my back to the door, I heard his footsteps and my heart started trembling.
He stopped beside me and said, “Dad, Mom, I’ll go back to work at the company tomorrow.”
Dad’s face lit up with a huge smile, just about to speak.
Ji Chengzhou grabbed my hand, dropped to his knees with a thud, and said, “Dad, Mom, Older Brother and I are together. I hope you’ll agree.”
I stood there frozen, staring at Ji Chengzhou in disbelief.
What the hell was he talking about? When did we ever get together?
Dad’s smile vanished, replaced by fury. “Ji Xinglan, what have you done to your younger brother?”
I was the victim here.
I had never seen Dad this angry in my entire life. My knees went weak from fear, and I dropped to the floor with a thud too.
Dad looked ready to bring out the family discipline on me. Ji Chengzhou stepped in front of me, insisting it was all his fault.
Ji Zhishu and Mom joined in to hold Dad back. After the chaos, Dad… agreed.
Agreed? Agreed to what? I hadn’t agreed to be with Ji Chengzhou.
I was about to stand up and protest loudly when Ji Chengzhou clamped his hand over my mouth and dragged me upstairs.
“Mmph mmph mmph!”
Ji Chengzhou hauled me all the way back to my room. I couldn’t take it anymore and bit his palm.
“What are you doing? What nonsense were you spouting in front of Mom and Dad?”
He actually looked wronged. “Older Brother, I gave you my first time. Aren’t you going to take responsibility?”
I stammered, “You—you—you…”
The thief crying thief. I was so angry I couldn’t speak and slapped him.
Ji Chengzhou even took the chance to lick my wrist. I got goosebumps.
This guy had no shame at all.
Even after being hit, he didn’t get mad. He looked dead serious and said,
“Older Brother, if you got with someone else, he might trick you out of your money and run off with it, leaving you unable to even afford food.”
“He might fight with Mom and put you in the middle.”
I was about to lose it, but he took my hand. “It’s different with me.”
“I’ll help you run the company. All the money I earn will be yours to spend.”
“I’ll cook for you. Whatever you want to eat, I’ll make it.”
“You can do whatever you want. I won’t control you like before.”
“And there won’t be any of those typical mother-in-law and daughter-in-law conflicts between me and Mom. I’ll be filial to them with you.”
“Most importantly, if you agree to be with me, you’ll be in charge at home from now on. I’ll listen to you.”
“Older Brother, be with me. I love you…”
One tempting condition after another.
Shamefully, my heart wavered again.
But…
“I’m your Older Brother.”
Ji Chengzhou answered instantly, “Not blood-related. And Mom and Dad already agreed.”
“Don’t you feel anything for me after all this time? That day at the hotel, you…”
I quickly covered his mouth.
“I agree. Shut up.”
Ji Chengzhou pulled my hand away. His smile was bright and radiant. Sunlight fell on him, and he looked so beautiful my heart skipped a beat.
