796 WE ARE LEAVING!
Cane felt like he got a heart attack when he saw Iris was standing right in front of him. His mate was here.
On the other hand, because Cane stood there without moving, Iris didn’t dare to take a step closer too, because she was afraid of his reaction.
What he would say? Would he be angry at her? Yelled at her? Would he send her back to Chrystal Moon pack?
When Iris rushed here, the only thing in her mind was to tell Cane about the vision she saw a week ago, more so, she missed him like crazy. She was also angry at him for ignoring her.
But now, when they were already in front of each other, Iris was not sure what to say, especially when Cane didn’t move. He said nothing and kept staring at her.
It was Aliana, who came to approach Iris first and took her to the campsite area.
"Luna, you must be very tired, come. I will take you to the alpha’s tent." Aliana grabbed Iris’s hand and glanced at the alpha, who still stood in the same place.
"Oh, okay..." Iris looked a little bit awkward because not this silent from Cane that she expected. It would be easier for her if she said something.
Cane only moved along when Aliana took Iris with him and walked past the alpha. He followed the two women from behind.
Meanwhile, Jace had his eyes on Zale. He stared at the young boy with an incredulous expression, as he crossed his arms in front of the young boy.
Zale immediately turned around and wanted to scurry away, but Jace already put his hand on his shoulder, rendered him unable to escape.
"Don’t give a bullshit about luna took you with her," Jace started. "You were the one, who followed her here, right?" Jace guessed it correctly. After all, this was not the first time Zale did this.
With that Eron and Dyne chimed in, they reported to the beta about what happened and this made Jace became even more upset.
"I told you that I will follow the luna!" Zale shouted before Jace could even say anything. "I told you I will follow the luna! I told you that, right?! You can’t kick me out! I will come back again if you did!"
Jace said nothing, but he dragged Zale into the campsite, while the other warriors followed him.
At the same time, inside the alpha’s tent, Iris felt really awkward when Cane kept staring at her, while crossing his arms in front of his chest, his expression was unreadable... it was hard to concentrate what Aliana told her when her mind was solely on Cane.
After realizing the tension between them too, Aliana smiled at the luna and told her that she would come back with food for her.
Iris didn’t think she could stomach anything, but she nodded anyway when Aliana went out of the tent and left the two of them alone.
"Th- there is something important I need to tell you," Iris said, she prayed her voice wouldn’t be this shaking, because she didn’t want to feel intimidated when Cane literally didn’t do anything.
Probably, this was because of her guilty conscience for rushing here, knowing he didn’t want her to be in the battlefield and had a high risk to be harmed. ..
"Speak." Cane’s voice came out so cold and dark. This was not the tone that he used to use when he talked to her, but she could understand why he was very frustrated with her right now. She couldn’t help, but felt a little bit hurt.
Iris opened her mouth, she was about to tell him everything. Her first instinct was to obey him, because that was how she was raised. She needed to obey, though not all the time she would do that.
However, before she could explain, there was this sudden rush of anger that caught up in her throat, as she remembered how miserable she was when he ignored her letters. She wrote for him many times, but not even once he wrote back, not specifically for her.
She knew this was his habit, but it didn’t mean she couldn’t be mad because she was being treated unfairly. She didn’t ask him to write a novel for her, a simple ’I am fine, how are you?’ would do to curb her worry.
But, no. She didn’t even get that.
Therefore, when Iris spoke to explain what she saw in her vision, her voice was as cold as his, her blue eyes dimmed and she balled her fists under her sleeves. She was very angry with this bad alpha of hers!
Iris spoke through her gritted teeth, she met Cane’s eyes squarely and didn’t even blink when she told him what she saw.
About the dragon, about the catastrophe and how she felt that was a warning.
She knew it was not a simple thing as she fell asleep when she took a bath.
It felt like when she lived Na’s memories.
The image was surreal and lucid enough to say it was real.
"That’s the only thing I want to tell you!" Iris ended her long rambles, people could tell she was enraged, but trying her best to control her emotions, as she gnashed on her molars. "Now you know about it, I will leave!"
Iris then wanted to exit the tent, but Cane grabbed her hand. During her rambles, not even once Cane intervened, neither he asked nor gave any comments about what she told him, making Iris doubted whether he listened to her or not.
"Eat first," Cane said. His voice softened to see the anger and hurt in Iris’s blue eyes, but she swatted his hand away.
"I. don’t. want. to. eat." Iris enunciated every word clearly.
She was not going to accept the way he treated her.
She was the one, who made this effort here, after the way he ignored her for weeks, but when she was here, he gave her a cold shoulder and even attempted to ignore her again without even hearing her out first.
Gone Iris’s timid self, as her annoyance toward Cane reached the threshold. She loved him, but it didn’t mean she couldn’t be mad at him.
"Iris," Cane called her name gently. He tried to stop her again, but then stopped in his track when he felt this pain.
No way!
No way she did this to him!
Cane widened his eyes when he realized Iris indeed did it, because if he tried to stop her, she wouldn’t stand a chance to reject him physically.
"I said, I am going to leave," Iris said through her gritted teeth. Yes. She used her power to squeeze Cane’s wolf spirit in order to stop him from blocking her way.
Not like in the past, now Iris got a better control on her power. This wouldn’t put Cane in harm way, but it was enough to render him unable to move, making him lose his strength and dropped to his knees and the lycan happily tried to crawl his way out.
Now Cane knew what would happen if he pissed his little mate off! He shouldn’t have tried it in the first place though...
Cane staggered, but finally he was subdued, as he clutched his chest and knelt down. Iris used this moment to step aside and walk out of the tent.
"Eron! Dyne! Zale!" Iris shouted their names and the three of them rushed toward her with panic expression, because they could sense her anger when she called them.
It was so rare to see her angry, but when she did, to be honest, it sent chill down to their bones. She felt taller and bigger in their eyes, though in reality, she was only two heads taller than Zale, who was currently twelve years old.
"Yes, luna?" They asked in unison, being very alerted with her foul mood.
"We are leaving now!" Iris said tersely, as she walked toward where they put away her horse. Her steps were quick, but with her short legs, the three of them easily caught up with her.
"Leaving? Now?" Eron asked. "But, you need to rest, luna. You didn’t even sleep a wink last night." They could go for another night without asleep, but their luna was different. She could become sick if they went away right now without her resting first.
"Luna, let’s leave after you well rested." Dyne also tried to coax her, but Iris didn’t budge. She stopped walking and turned around to give them a dagger look and this very efficient to shut them up.
Zale actually hid behind Eron when Iris did this, he was afraid of the luna now. He would think twice before he upset her in the future by not listening to what she said.
"We are leaving." Iris made it final and didn’t leave any room for negotiation.
"Y- yes, luna..." The three of them had nothing more to say. Their luna was pissed beyond words.
Now, since Cane didn’t want her to be here and he didn’t seem to be worried nor he was happy to see her here, she would leave as soon as possible, so he could continue with whatever he was doing and Iris would wait in the Chrystal Moon pack, drinking her hot chocolate that Hanna gave to her, while playing with the children.
She would wait for Cane’s glorious return.
See? Life was easy, why should she make things difficult for herself to make a wasteful effort?
