Chapter Nineteen
“Well I think it’s safe to assume that whoever attacked them, Rebecca and her guys knew them.” Erin says as she glances around.
“What makes you think that?” I ask curiously.
“Well there were no signs of forced entry. So no one broke in.” She shrugs.
“Or they used the void to get in. If it really is the same person that brought that serpent you guys fought through the void, then it makes sense that, that’s how they got in here.” Cole says and Nate and Levi look at him confused.
“What the hell is the void?” Nate asks.
We quickly explain and explain our theory about it all being done by the same person.
“That seems like a pretty fair assumption.” Levi says frowning. “Didn’t the Director say that she had her best people on this case?” He asks.
“Yeah that’s a good point actually, where the fuck are they?” Cole adds.
“Something else the Director has been untruthful about. But why?” Nate says.
“I guess we aren’t going to find out any time soon. Let’s look around.” Erin says.
We all start to carefully look around being sure not to touch anything but trying to get any sort of clue as to what the hell happened here.
“Somethings bothering me.” I say and they turn to look at me as I stand next to the clawed up couch, “There is a hell of a lot of destruction in this room and a fight that can cause this much damage would’ve been loud.
So why didn’t we hear anything? Our room is only across the hall no more than three metres away, so why didn’t any of us hear it happening? ” I ask.
“These rooms are all spelled to be completely soundproofed.” Cole says, “They’re the rooms for Centres and their Bonded.
No one is na?ve enough to think that after classes all they do is sleep.
” He chuckles as Levi grins and waggles his eyebrows in my direction, “Honestly the majority of the rooms are spelled to be completely sound proof for that reason. Although they’ll tell you it’s because supernaturals have sensitive hearing. ” Cole adds rolling his eyes.
Erin chuckles as she absentmindedly picks up a broken mug. She gasps as soon as her finger tips make contact and her eyes become completely white, her glamour dropping and her hair glowing.
“What the fuck is happening?” Nate exclaims worriedly as he rushes to her.
“What he said!” I ask as I do the same, Levi and Cole following us.
“She’s having a vision.” Cole says, “It’s a rare gift where you get visions from things that you touch.
They are mostly from the past but sometimes they can be from the future if the emotion behind whatever the planned action is, is strong enough.
For example if it was an engagement ring and she picked it up she might be able to see who it was going to be given to and if they said yes. ”
“How long is she going to be out for?” Nate asks calmer now that he knows what’s going on, although obviously still worried. He reaches out and takes the hand that isn’t gripping the mug tightly, “Fuck she’s as cold as ice.”
“That’s normal and as for how long she will be in her vision it entirely depends on what’s being shown to her.
Her gift is dangerous because as you can see she is completely vulnerable when she’s in a vision.
In time though she might be able to activate her shield if she feels like she’s being pulled into a vision and that would protect her.
” He speculates getting lost in thought, “I’ll do a bit of research and let you know if its possible. ”
“Thanks, man. I appreciate it. We are pretty much always around her but of course it’s better that she can protect herself if there ever is an occasion when we aren’t around.” Nate says gratefully and Cole nods his understanding.
“Between all of us, it will be easy to make sure she’s never alone until we figure out how she can use her shield whilst in a vision.” Levi reassures Nate and Nate sighs in relief.
“So what do we do?” I ask.
Her eyes are completely white and clouded and it creates an eerie effect that I know she’d get a kick out of.
“All we can do is wait,” Cole shrugs, “maybe look for more clues?”
“I’m going to stay with her, while you guys do that.” Nate says.
“Of course, Dude. Didn’t expect anything else.”
“Nate, take a picture for her. She’ll kill you if you don’t.” I chuckle and he grins.
“Good idea Sage, she’s going to love how badass she looks.”
We search the room for the next ten minutes or so before Erin groans.
“Fuck, that was so weird.” She mutters before looking around the room her eyes landing on a large antique sideboard.
Without saying anything to us she walks over to it and with an ease that would show anyone that she is supernatural she pushes it to the side. I gape at what’s revealed in dark purple paint. As large as the entire sideboard the symbol of the Order decorates the wall.
Erin turns back to face us.
“I didn’t see much. I saw three people dressed in purple with masks completely obscuring their faces.
Despite the amount of devastation in the room Rebecca and the others were subdued really quickly.
It took minutes if that and they didn’t get a chance to fight back.
All of this was done after they had been taken.
I didn’t see who did it though.” She says.
“So someone at the school is definitely working for the Order then.” I say.
“How the fuck did they get on campus though?” Cole says, “It should be completely impossible. As far as I know there isn’t even a way to drop the protections and let the Order in.
My brothers went here and they’ve told me all sorts of things that I shouldn’t know.
” Cole adds seeing our questioning faces.
“They wanted me to have as much information as possible considering I’m the first male Centre in a while and Supernaturals are surprisingly enough known for being judgy assholes. ”
“There’s something we’re missing. At least we know for certain now, that it was the Order though, that’s something.” Levi says.
“Are you ok?” I ask Erin.
“I’m good I think. That was so weird but I instantly knew what was happening which was nice or I would’ve freaked the fuck out.” She says.
“I got Nate to take a picture of what you looked like. You’re going to love it.”
“Come on, let’s get out of here before we get caught!” Nate says and we quickly leave all going to our apartment.
“Where have you guys been?” Dash asks as soon as we enter and I startle when I realise that all of the others are already here.
“Family meeting time!” Kai grins happily from the couch and pats his lap for me.
I roll my eyes but make my way over anyway.
“Where are you going?” I ask Cole as I see him turn towards the door.
“Erm well, Kai said family meeting so I thought…” He trails off.
“Oh no dude you’re family now too. Find a seat and fill us in on what trouble the girls convinced you to get into.” Damon chuckles.
Cole smiles his blindingly beautiful smile, takes a seat and proceeds to tell them everything.
“I honestly don’t understand how you guys gets that much done in the space of a couple of hours!” Hunt exclaims shaking his head.
“We can figure out a plan of attack next but first I want to know if you guys found anything?” Levi says turning to Mav and Dash.
“Yes and no.” Dash starts, “That creature that attacked us is only found in the fire mountains in the Demon realm and it should be impossible for it to get here, with what you’ve said about the void though, that would make more sense.”
“The swords are no longer in their display case, so those,” Mav points to my forearms, “are definitely the swords of Nyx. The only other thing we managed to find out was that Nyx was the last queen of all the supernatural’s.
She ruled for a long time before her and her Bonded disappeared without warning.
She united all of the supernatural’s against the Order and fought beside them in the war, eventually defeating them.
It’s said that her loyalist supporters and protectors were marked with her warrior mark.
The mark not only gave them status in the kingdom that Nyx chose to rule from in the Fae realm but it also gave them status and power in all of the realms, she was the queen of them all after all.
The mark also enhanced their gifts and linked them to Nyx, forging a mind link with them that meant they could call upon her if they were in trouble and that went both ways, if Nyx needed them she’d call. ”
I sit there stunned.
I understand why Nyx would have this mark and mark her loyalist followers but why do I?
Actually I’m not ready to look at that too closely right now.
“This is the same mark that you all have right?” Cole asks.
I told him all about it earlier figuring that it was probably a good idea since he’s going to get one at some point.
“Yeah.” Dash sighs. “So we ended up with more questions and some vague answers. We had to leave because it was getting late but we can go back tomorrow and see if we can find anything else out.”
“You guys did good. At least we know something now.” Levi praises and Mav and Dash grin.
“My brain is absolutely fried.” Erin says all of us agreeing, “So I’m going to bed. We can make a plan tomorrow with how to deal with the fact the Order is able to get on campus.”
“Good idea.” I agree yawning, “Nate tell her about the whole vulnerable thing.” I say as they all say goodbye and walk out the door with Cole.
“Sure thing, Sage.” He replies.
It’s not long before I’m snuggled in bed between Kai and Jax.
I pretend not to notice that as soon as they’ve fallen asleep their hands drift together and they end up holding hands over the top of me, each one of them curled up close to me.
They aren’t ready to acknowledge what’s developing between them yet and I’m not going to force them to before they’re ready.
I fall asleep with a happy smile on my face despite the events of the day.
