A new distraction
Author's pov-
The rest of the day passed in a blur of lectures and assignments. Divya found herself distracted, her mind replaying her conversation with purv more times than she cared to admit.
She didn't want to overthink it, but she knew herself too well.
So, when kaashi suddenly grabbed her arm during lunch and pulled her towards a guy sitting in the canteen, she didn't resist.
"You need a distraction," kaashi announced.
Divya frowned. "From what?"
Kaashi grinned. "From who?"
Divya shot her a warning look, but before she could argue, kaashi was already introducing her to someone new.
"This is Aditya," kaashi said, nudging Divya forward.
Divya turned to the guy sitting across the table. He was tall, with sharp features and a confident smile that screamed trouble.
"Hey," Aditya greeted smoothly, flashing a grin. "We've seen eachother around, but I don't think we've talked."
Divya gave a polite smile. "Yeah, I guess."
Kaashi smirked. "She's shy."
"I am not shy," Divya shot back.
Aditya chuckled. "That's good to know."
As they talked, Divya realised Aditya was easy going, funny, and charming in a way that was effortless. He didn't make her overthink. He didn't make her nervous.
And for a while, she let herself enjoy the conversation.
But across the canteen, someone else wasn't as entertained.
Purv sat at his usual table, arms crossed, his gaze fixed on Divya and Aditya.
His expression was unreadable.
Rudra, who was sitting beside him, followed his line of sight and smirked. "Jealous?"
Purv scoffed. "Why would I be?"
Rudra leaned back. "Because that guy is clearly into her."
Purv didn't respond.
Rudra smirked. "She looks like she's enjoying his company."
Purv's grip on his coffee cup tightened slightly. "Good for her."
Rudra chuckled. "Right."
Purv tore his gaze away and focused on his coffee.
It didn't matter.
It shouldn't matter.
But somehow, it did.
