Chapter 6 The Betrayal

The sight hit me like ice water poured straight down my spine.

I sat in a corner of the hotel lobby until midnight, but never saw Ye Wangbai come out.

Finally I couldn’t take it anymore.

Following the scent, I found his room and slipped inside quietly.

Clothes were scattered everywhere.

On the wide bed, my husband and another woman were tangled together naked.

The woman’s skin was snow-white, her voice seductive.

She said, “Honey, I missed you so much.”

“Little slut, which part missed me?”

“Every part… When are you finally divorcing her? I can’t stand sneaking around anymore.”

“Be good. According to the new Marriage Law, if I divorce her now, I won’t get a cent! Just wait a little longer. Her health is terrible right now. She won’t last much longer. Once I find a chance to stage an accident, all the money will be mine.”

“How much longer? I’m going crazy missing you.”

“Soon… Come on, show your husband how crazy you are…”

Nausea.

Disgust.

I wanted to vomit again.

I couldn’t bear it anymore. Pale-faced, I left.

Back home, I sat numbly all night.

At dawn, Mom called.

“Xixi, feeling any better? Still vomiting nonstop?”

“Listen to Mom. You can’t hold on like this. You’ll starve to death!”

“Mom knows you love him and can’t bear to do it. Then just abort the babies. Afterward, the two of you can live well…”

Hearing her gentle, concerned voice on the phone, tears streamed down my face in an instant.

“Mom,” I choked out, “don’t worry. I’ll be fine soon.”

I’d been starving for so long. Maybe it was time to eat.
