Chapter 8 The Insurance
After I asked, Ye Wangbai’s expression changed.
He hurried to explain, “She works in Jiang City. We ran into each other by chance. She said this cake was really good, so I thought you might like it.
“Honey, don’t be angry. I didn’t tell you because I thought you were probably sleeping and I didn’t want to wake you.”
I laughed.
“Why are you so nervous? Isn’t she your cousin? Why would I be jealous?”
The cake tasted nice, but it still made me want to throw up.
I took one bite, then threw the rest in the trash.
After drinking some soda water, I said to Ye Wangbai, “By the way, I bought Insurance for both of us. Each other as beneficiaries.”
He looked a little surprised, but a flash of excitement crossed his eyes.
“What about your mom? Mine is definitely you, but should yours be changed to her?”
So considerate.
If I hadn’t seen last night’s scene, I would probably have been very touched right now.
But now, I only felt sadness and irony.
I smiled. “Mom has her own money. No need to worry about her. You and I are husband and wife—the closest people in the world. Our money should naturally go to each other. Promise me, if anything happens to me, you and the children will live well, okay?”
“Okay.”
He nodded, eyes red, and pulled me tightly into his arms.
“Honey, you’ll be fine. I absolutely won’t let anything happen to you or the children.”
“Mm, I know.”
The same goes for me.
I won’t let anything happen to my children.
We held each other quietly.
The room was so silent.
I could clearly hear both our heartbeats.
Husband, I’ve already handed you the knife.
Now it’s your turn to act, isn’t it?
