Chapter Five
Kytten
“Can we talk about what happened last night?”
“No,” I said, shaking my head. I didn’t want to talk to her, but Cash wouldn’t let up.
“What would you like to talk about?”
I turned away from Dr. Jefferson and sought out Cash. He was sitting in the same chair by the door. The monsters were affecting his life, too. He had things to do, but he sat in that chair watching me. Protecting me.
I frowned as I wondered how long he would put up with my shit.
“Tell me what you’re feeling right now, Kytten.”
“He won’t stay,” I whispered, then slammed my hand over my mouth as soon as I realized what I’d said.
Dr. Jefferson turned and looked over her shoulder. When Cash stood, she shook her head at him. He didn’t sit. He watched me.
“I need to go home.”
“To Las Vegas?” she asked.
I nodded as a tear slipped down my cheek. I swiped it away angrily. Why wouldn’t they stop?
“Why do you need to go home?”
“I don’t belong here.”
“And you belong at home?”
I shook my head absently. “I don’t belong anywhere,” I whispered.
“Kytten, let’s talk about the day Mimic went to get food.”
“Why is he called that?” I asked. It was a strange name. What did it mean?
“I don’t know,” she answered. “You should ask him. Where were you living the day he went to get food?”
I didn’t want to think about that day. That was the day my whole life changed. Most people would think it was the day our mom left. But it was the day Thorne left.
“You need to stay here. I won’t be gone long.”
“I can come with you. I can get into places you can’t.” I begged him to take me. I didn’t want to stay alone. I hated being alone. It was scary here. I wanted to go back to the room in the closet. It was safe there. Where no one knew who we were.
“You can’t go where I’m going. It’s not safe for girls.”
“But it’s safe for boys?”
“I’ll be safe,” he said. “I’ll be back soon.”
“How long did you stay?”
“For two days.”
“Then Valhalla found you?” I nodded, my eyes on Cash. “Can you tell me about the two days you were alone?”
“What do you want to know?” I asked, glaring at her.
“How I felt? I was fucking scared. I was eleven years old and had already lost my mom. Then my brother left. Did I feel abandoned? Yes. Did I feel unwanted? Yes. I was a fucking kid. Kids don’t know any better.
All they know is they have someone one day and the next day they’re gone. ”
I pulled my legs up on the chair and wrapped my arms around my knees. “Cash will leave too. He’ll realize I’m not worth the trouble. Then the monsters will come back.”
“When was the first time you heard the monsters? Was it when Mimic left?” I shook my head. “Was it when you were afraid under the dumpster?” I shook my head again, but I didn’t look at her. She was getting too close.
“After you were living with the Nyght Nymphs?”
When I didn’t answer, Dr. Jefferson asked, “Can you tell me what happened?”
I shook my head. “It doesn’t matter why. Your job is to help me get rid of them.”
“Kytten, if I don’t know why they’re here, I can’t help you. It isn’t just about getting rid of the monsters. It’s about making sure they don’t come back.”
“They don’t wake up when I’m with Cash.”
“What happens when you leave? If you go back to Nevada, the monsters go with you. Unless we get rid of them.”
She was right. If I left Cash, then they would wake up. That meant I couldn’t leave. I had to find a way to make sure he kept me.
“Then I won’t leave.”
Dr. Jefferson sighed. “I think that’s enough for today.”
I didn’t hesitate to jump up and rush over to Cash. “Everything ok?”
“She said we were done.” He looked over my shoulder, and something made his brow furrow. I grabbed his hand and dragged him inside. He followed me as I led him up the two flights of stairs.
I knew how to make him keep me. He knew about the scars now. There was no reason to hide.
When we got to his room, I locked the door behind me and leaned against it. My eyes traveled over him. I hadn’t seen him yet. I’d felt him though. When he fucked me on the mountain, I felt every inch of him.
He sat on the end of the bed and held his hand out to me. “Come here, baby.”
I moved quickly, climbing onto his lap and straddling his hips. He groaned when I wrapped my arms around his neck and rubbed against him. He was hard. I ground myself against him and whispered, “Fuck me, Cash.” Then I slammed my lips on his.
His hands were everywhere at once. The feel of his hands on my thighs made me stiffen until he whispered against my lips, “I know, baby. I already know.”
He was right. He already knew my secret. And he still wanted me. For now. I had to make sure he continued to want me.
I pulled my shirt over my head, and he groaned at the sight of my lace covered tits. They weren’t huge by the world’s standards, but on my tiny body there were times I felt like Dolly Frickin’ Parton.
His hands covered them and then pulled the cups down, making room for his tongue to flick my nipples. He alternated back and forth from one side to the other, before sucking one between his lips.
I reached behind me and unlatched my bra, throwing it on the floor with my shirt. Cash pulled me closer. His lips suctioned to my tits as his hands caressed and squeezed my ass.
“Need you naked, Rosie.”
“Then do something about it.”
He looked up with a feral smile before he stood with me in his arms and turned, tossing me on the bed.
He removed his cut. Hanging it reverently on the hook beside the closet door. His shirt came off next, as one hand reached behind his head to grab the neckline. He toed off his boots while his hands worked the button on his jeans.
“Rosie, get to work.”
“Can’t,” I breathed as I stared at his chest. I couldn’t move as I lay on my elbows, watching the muscles twitch with his every movement. I was mesmerized.
The monsters forgotten. The urgency I felt earlier to make him want me forgotten. Hell, my own fucking desire for this man was forgotten as I watched him lower his jeans.
When his dick came into view, every thought in my head vanished, except for the one that asked, “How the fuck did you fit that thing inside me?”
