Chapter 6 A Clue Points to Me
In my memory, the boss, that picky clean freak, had never gone into the kitchen.
He usually stayed in his second-floor office, or at most sat near the first-floor bar. He never entered the kitchen!
And my question stumped He Tingzhou too.
On the way home, he kept pinching his chin in thought.
I patted him. "Green light."
He Tingzhou snapped back and stepped on the gas amid the honking from the car behind.
"Still thinking about the case?" I yawned. "You need to balance work and rest, Officer."
He Tingzhou glanced at me and frowned slightly.
"What are you going to do when you get home? Sleep?"
I looked puzzled.
"What else? It's almost dawn if I don't sleep soon."
He clicked his tongue and poked my ticklish spot.
"Don't sleep. Stay alert."
I grabbed his wandering hand.
"What are you doing!"
He Tingzhou glanced over.
"Don't you know it's best not to sleep within eight hours after a scare? It can lead to mental fatigue."
I choked. There was such a thing?
"Then what should I do?"
I looked him up and down, hinting. "Something stimulating to keep me awake, Officer~"
He Tingzhou looked at me, his eyes darkening slightly.
"What counts as stimulating?"
My gaze fell on his chest.
I curved my lips slightly. "Of course—"
Before I finished, my phone rang suddenly.
My flirty words got cut off, and I sheepishly sank back into the seat.
He Tingzhou let out the breath he had been holding and answered the call.
His face grew serious. Finally, he turned the steering wheel and headed back the way we came.
"Where are we going?" I asked, confused.
He Tingzhou glanced at me meaningfully.
"The stimulation you wanted is here."
"We received a tip that someone saw a suspicious person who might be the perpetrator. From the description... it seems a bit similar to you."
