Chapter 11 Revealing the Difference
I had been wondering how similar it could be.
Until I was brought to the office and saw the surveillance video. Then I was completely dumbfounded.
These jeans, this floral hoodie, these big wavy curls—this was literally me!
The surveillance camera was located on the corridor near the dance floor, three or four meters from the back kitchen. Plus, the other person was wearing a hat to deliberately cover their face. It was almost impossible to see the face clearly.
Chef Zhang was also called over to watch the surveillance.
He pointed at the figure and nodded repeatedly.
"Yes, yes, that's her! It should have been around nine something at night.
I had just unloaded a batch of goods and was squatting at the back door smoking.
I saw this woman heading toward the back kitchen! "
He Tingzhou frowned. "Is the back kitchen somewhere anyone can enter? Why didn't you stop her?"
Chef Zhang's gaze glanced toward me. He pointed at my outfit and pouted. "I thought it was Miss Lu! Miss Lu is a regular at our place and knows the boss well. I assumed she was going to the wine cellar next to the back kitchen to get her pre-stored drinks!"
He Tingzhou looked at me. "What exactly were you doing between nine and ten o'clock?"
He had asked me this question before the fingerprint comparison. I felt helpless. "No matter how many times you ask, my answer is the same. I was wandering on the bar street at that time. I didn't go to kill anyone, and of course, I have no witness either."
He Tingzhou's brow was tightly furrowed. He stared at me steadily for a few seconds, then turned and nodded to the officer operating the computer. "Capture all the frames with this woman. Zoom in, slow down the playback."
I paused, looking at him in some surprise. "You're...?"
"If that woman isn't you, then we have to find the differences."
He Tingzhou looked me over from head to toe, then turned back to the woman on the screen. "Even twins can't be completely identical. If someone is imitating you, there must be flaws."
Listening to his calm voice, I let out a breath too. My eyes stayed fixed on the figure on the screen. The more I looked, the more I felt something was off.
The few seconds of video were played and dragged repeatedly. Just when everyone was getting dizzy from watching, I suddenly clapped my hands. "Ah! This isn't me!!"
He Tingzhou immediately turned to look at me. "How do you prove it?"
I hesitated, feeling a bit embarrassed as I touched my nose. "Proving it here... is a bit shameful."
Seeing He Tingzhou's puzzled gaze, I gathered my courage and grabbed his wrist. I pulled him out of the office. "But... I can show you privately."
Since I was going to the bar to have fun, what I wore definitely wasn't too conservative. A navel-baring hoodie and jeans—beautiful but freezing.
He Tingzhou had been afraid I'd be cold and had draped his jacket over me earlier. Now I pulled him into an empty rest room, took off the jacket, and started pulling down my pants.
"Lu Xiaoning!"
He Tingzhou's pupils shrank. He immediately reached out to stop me. His jaw tightened. "What are you doing?!"
