Chapter Ten Purity #4
The one emotion that I felt in this moment was pain.
Still, I was too stuck to move. My feet were planted to the floor.
I couldn’t pick them up if I wanted to. I continued to watch on like everybody else.
The only difference was I had tears welled up in my eyes.
Not from the joy of seeing two happy strangers display their love for the world to see.
I was seeing the person I thought was the love of my life declare his love for another woman, who I’ve never seen before. Sick was an understatement.
This is the man I thought I would marry. In a matter of seconds my life resulted to some shit I never saw coming. I felt pity for my damn self.
“I know you’ve had the ring for a while now.
We’ve been engaged, but I wanted to do the shit the proper way because you deserve it.
The love that you give me could never be duplicated.
You’re one of one and I’ll be a fool to let you out of my grasp.
What I thought the definition of love was you came in and showed me was something different.
I tried to maneuver around because for a while, I can admit as a man I was unsure about what I wanted.
But in this moment, I’m sure about three things.
My love for you. The way I feel about this relationship.
And the fact that I want to spend the rest of my days on this earth as your man, your best friend, your confidant, and your husband.
Will you do me the honor and let me make you happy for the rest of your life? ”
I don’t know what it was that cause me to stand there.
I should’ve run away. I should have run up and interrupted this whole thing, but I stood there, and I listened.
This moment solidified so much for me. At the same time, it made me feel crazy.
Crazy for trusting a nigga that never deserved my trust to begin with.
Crazy for sitting around and waiting on a nigga thinking that he would do the right thing.
Crazy to think that every time that he wasn’t with me, he was working.
Instead, he was building a life with another woman.
What pained me the most is the fact that the nigga is engaged to me presently.
How does that shit work? How can you propose to two women?
This shit made me feel like I was in the middle of some type of dating show, and I was fighting for a nigga’s love.
Like I was fighting to be the one that he chose.
Tears continuously cascaded down my face. I was out of it.
“Come on, babe let’s go”, Jania said as she tugged at my arm.
“We don’t have to leave Jania. If she wants to blow up this motherfucking spot that’s what we’re gonna`` do.”
Jania looked into my face for reassurance.
There were so many words and thoughts formulating in my mind, but I was stuck.
Tears raining down my face, with my heart beating like it was about to explode.
My eyes trained on the man that I trusted with my heart.
The one person that I felt in my heart that if I slipped, he wouldn’t dare let me fall. I guess I was sadly mistaken.
Right now, my two best friends were like an angel and the devil on my shoulder.
I had to decide what the fuck it is that I wanted to do in this moment.
If I wanted to act a fucking fool or keep my composure.
The decision wasn’t an easy one. I had to think about my job and my reputation, but I also had to take into account the way that this man has been playing in my face for the longest.
“What u want to do?”, Roni asked.
I began to make my way through the crowd. My girls followed right behind me. I knew they wouldn’t leave my side at all. Even if this bitch ass nigga did. I walked up to the nigga and tapped him on his shoulders.
“This what the fuck you on nigga?! You’re a whole bitch made ass nigga”
I was visibly upset but I wouldn’t let him see my tears.
He didn’t deserve them, but my heart couldn’t deny the pain.
He embarrassed me in from of my family and my friends.
Hell, I’ve introduced this nigga to people at my job.
Including my boss. He made a damn fool out of me. Now I’m about to do the same to him.
I don’t give a damn about his reputation. He cared nothing about my heart or crushing that motherfucker. I cleared my throat so that I could project my voice loudly. I needed everyone in attendance to hear what I was about to say. Including the motherfuckers in the kitchen. I no longer gave a damn.
“This man has led me on for years. I was engaged to him at first.”
I held my ring up so the crowd could see.
“This nothing ass nigga had me at the restaurant waiting for him. The one he made reservations for to discuss our wedding. Yet here he is proposing to another woman. I’ve been with this man for years.
We planned a life together. Instead of him letting me know he had some other shit going on he played in my face every day.
This shit stupid as fuck Dom! You think being engaged to two woman means you’re that nigga?
! You ain’t shit. This shit doesn’t make you P.
Being able to be truthful and still have your way is some shit I can appreciate.
You’re a -little boy in a grown man’s body.
You could’ve been real but you’re too bitch made for that. ”
“Pure- “, he said.
I held my hand up to stop him from talking. There weren’t any words I needed to hear from him. I don’t think there are any words invented that could explain this shit. The nigga was scum on the bottom of my fuckin heels. A waste of fucking time. A real wolf in sheep’s clothing.
“Dominic, who is this woman?”, his lady friend asked.
“His ex-fiancé. I can assure you; you don’t have to worry about me. I’m not the bitch that needs a nigga. he was merely a want. Right now, he’s the most undesirable being on this planet. You can have this piece of shit ass nigga.”
I took the ring off my finger and threw it and hit Dom in the face with it.
“I hope you choke on that motherfucker”, I said to Dom.
I walked away with my dignity and my pride.
I know this isn’t going to be an easy walk.
I still found solace in the fact that at least I found out before I actually tied the knot.
What I realized is this nigga was only buying himself time to choose.
He couldn’t pick between the two of us. So, he was giving us what he felt he wanted while he had time to make his mind up.
“That nigga is foul as fuck! Oooooh, I wanted to beat him and that bitch ass”, Roni exclaimed.
“Did you see the look on her face? I honestly think that girl was just as oblivious as me”
“I picked up on that too. Otherwise, I would’ve been on the same type of time as Roni. I’m normally trying to be the peacemaker but he’s wrong as fuck. Nothing good is going to come to his ass. Karma going to beat his ass like Mayweather did John Gotti.”
I just shook my head as I looked out of the window.
Just looking at every building that we passed.
My friends were talking but after a while I had nothing to say.
I needed time to process this shit. I didn’t know what to do with myself.
It’s only been a few minutes, and my hand already feels empty from not having the ring.
Dom really did a number on me with this shit.
I called myself getting a man of a certain caliber thinking shit would be different.
All these niggas the same. That’ll be my stance until a nigga magically shows me otherwise.
Right now, it’s fuck love and everything that has to do with it.
Because how the fuck do I go from a fiancé back to just being Pure overnight. This is pure bullshit.
