20. Gunna #2

After checking in with the concierge, I made my way to the private twelfth floor that the hospital kept for only VIP patients.

As soon as the elevator doors opened, I was greeted by nurses and security checking my badge to make sure I belonged on the floor.

When I approached Stone’s hospital room, Brick and Dion, Beast personal bodyguards, pulled their guns and glared hard at me.

I swallowed down hard as I wondered if Beast was inside the room.

Wherever these two crazy mothafuckas were, Beast was close by or on his way.

“We were given strict orders to kill you on sight, if you came near this fuckin hospital.” Brick smiled evilly as he pointed the gun to my forehead. I threw my hands up in surrender as I called Stones name.

“I just need to talk to you, bro! Is that cool?”

Brick and Dion still kept their guns pointed as Dion spoke lowly, “He doesn’t know shit yet. Beast will be here soon and we won’t hold back nigga.” His icy tone let me know how ready he was to light my ass up, these two hardly ever spoke.

“Y’all ain’t lighting up shit but these nuts!”

Brick pulled out his phone as they both lowered their guns and looked past me, right back into their guarding stance. I walked past them and knew my time was ticking from that interaction alone. Brick was on the phone, and I knew it was nobody but Beast he was talking to.

Swallowing whatever fear, I had left I faced Stone as he looked at me with no clue on to why security was acting so uptight. His face was still handsome, he lost a big bulk of weight and the glow he once had to his full face was now sunken in a little and ashened as he talked with a raspier tone.

“The fuck they out there tripping for like you’re an opp,” he took his time with each word he spoke as he pressed the nurse’s button.

He struggled with clearing his throat. If Beast hadn’t got to Don, I would have, for having my boy laid up like this.

I felt so guilty, my eyes bounced everywhere.

It was hard to even look him in the eyes.

“What’s good baby? I know seeing me like this ain’t got you that fucked up, nigga. I thought you ain’t have love for ya boy. Nigga been laid up here for a while, you ain’t been up here since.”

The painful lump that I had in my throat reappeared, and my mouth went dry.

All the recited words that I prepared to say couldn’t come out, hot tears fell from my eye sockets.

I didn’t even have the strength to wipe them away.

Before either one of us could speak, a nurse walked in with a tray.

Two big cups balanced on the tray one cup had ice filled to the top the other had water.

She had two big chocolate chip cookies and three small boxes of apple juice.

Stone looked at the tray and smiled and thanked the nurse as his serious gaze was placed back on me.

“What you do, Gunna? You can’t even look me in the eyes, nigga. Talk to me, face me like a man. I know that look. You fucked up bad, didn’t you?”

Stone was always in tuned with all of us, even when he didn’t appear to be. He was a well observant type of nigga, and he could just feel when something wasn’t right.

“I’m gay, Stone, and I fucked up bad my nigga. I did some foul as shit.”

He remained calm as he picked up the cup of ice, placing it in his cup. He poured his water next and took a sip. The silence was driving me crazy. After he drunk his water, he opened up his cookie and took a big bite out of it.

“You got to excuse me, nigga, wifey should be coming up here later on with my dinner. I’m hungry as fuck.”

Wiping my tears away, I gave him a curious look. “Why you ain’t acting surprised? Did you hear what I said?”

Stone was making me nervous; he devoured that cookie like he wasn’t fazed by the bomb I just dropped on him.

“Nigga, I heard you. You ain’t said shit that I didn’t already know.

What the next nigga do is none of my business.

I ain’t pressed about you being gay. Nigga, my close cousin is gay, and I respect him as the man he is.

Yo sexuality ain’t got shit to do with me.

As long as you didn’t press that gay shit upon me…

I’ve been knowing you and that nigga Teflon was gay or either secretly crushing on each other.

You niggas stared at each other weirdly too much for me, like y’all niggas had a secret crush on each other.

Shit was odd, but I mind the business that pays me.

Y’all confirmed my suspicions when I caught you two doing some weird ass shit at your New Year’s party.

I forgot my phone that night and I was so fucking faded.

I came back to get that shit and never got it because I walked in on some shit that damn near made me throw up. ”

My head was spinning, I couldn’t believe my ears from what Stone was saying. He was a real ass nigga, never exposed us or mentioned it until now.

“That’s why I never smoked with you two no more after that… I don’t give a fuck about that gay shit, we still brothers, nigga. It’s all based upon the foul shit you said you did.”

Stone pulled his gun from underneath his hospital blanket. He didn’t aim it at me, but he placed it in his lap in case he had to use it. He turned cold within seconds as he looked at me deadly, sending chills down my spine.

“I wanna know about the foul shit you did? You’re standing here acting like a bitch, crying and shit.

I caught on a while ago that Teflon was moving funny…

I couldn’t put my finger on what, but I kept pressing Beast to let me take over the spots he had Teflon over behind some money that kept coming up missing.

I know that’s your nigga, so if I felt like he was moving funny, I knew for a fact you had to know ‘bout it too, nigga. It ain’t no coincidence that I get shot and almost killed when I’m trying to sell a house that belonged to Beast. Beast would never cross me, and wifey said he's been here every step of the way until I woke up. I asked if you and Teflon came up here to see me, she said no… so you know my mind started to wander.”

He stopped talking, sounding like he was running out of breath. He took a sip from his cup, and I started from the beginning of it all. The different faces he made showed me how bad I fucked up. When I was done talking, he looked at me with sad eyes.

“Why couldn’t you tell us all this shit to stop this fuck shit from happening? Out of all the other dumb shit you went along with why the fuck you had to fuck Nia out of all people? Why the fuck you ain’t tell us she was alive?”

I heard a gasp from behind me. I smelled his strong fragrance before I could even turn around and face him. When I did, I was met by the barrel of his pistol. He had that Kayori chick with him as she talked to him softly.
