Chapter 19

The cold made me shiver slightly.

After who knows how long, I finally returned to my own front door.

The sound-activated lights in the Hallway flickered.

My Girlfriend had already returned home.

On the Security Camera Feed, she sat calmly on the sofa.

Her fingers unconsciously stroked the new golden bracelet.

I stood at the door. My hand holding the key paused.

The metal key felt ice-cold. My fingertips trembled slightly. I didn't open the door for a long time.

The Girlfriend inside came to the entrance and listened quietly.

Her breathing was very light, yet especially clear in the silence.

The air on both sides of the door seemed to have frozen.

Finally, my Girlfriend opened the door first.

The gap slowly widened, and her figure appeared before my eyes.

Her long hair was slightly damp, and the dim light of the Hallway reflected in her eyes.

The moment our eyes met, we both fell silent.

In the end, she spoke first.

"We're already at the door. Why won't you come in?"

Her voice was soft. To me it carried warmth.

I felt a little embarrassed and quickly forced out a reply.

"Oh, I was looking for the key in my bag."

Even I thought the excuse sounded clumsy.

"Come in and change your clothes. Don't catch a cold."

She stepped aside and welcomed me inside.

This time, she had removed all her disguise.

I walked into the house, and the door closed gently behind me.

It was as if all the darkness and blood of tonight had been shut outside.

The rain had not stopped when dawn came.

The gray sky looked like it was covered by a thin veil.

The clouds hung very low.

My Girlfriend and I held a black umbrella together.

We stood in front of a tombstone deep in Yong'an Cemetery.

The tombstone was made of light gray marble.

Its surface had been washed clean by the rain.

The name engraved on it had been worn somewhat blurry by the years.

The person in the photo was smiling gently, with a familiar light in their eyes.

The person resting in this grave was my sister.

A real Blind Person.

Our parents had died early. She was my only family in this world.
