CHAPTER 31

*~* Molly *~*

Sitting in Jamie’s office, I’m taking notes on things she wants me to do, follow up on, or organize for the future. “I’m sorry to drop all this on you, Molly, but I’m going away for two weeks. I need a vacation. Time away from this and everything else.”

By that I know she means Fury, and I know it seems to have gone to shit.

I can’t understand why he wouldn’t take Jamie seriously.

They are good together, and she does not care that he is in an MC; in fact, she does more than needed for them.

That may stop being such an urgency if all this goes tits up.

“Okay, Jamie, do you want me to speak with Simon about covering your patient appointments?”

Jamie rubs her face with the palm of her hands, and I can see she has tears in her eyes but is trying to hide them. “Yes, if you can do that. I’ll cover today, but I’m going first thing in the morning, so think of this as my last day for two weeks.”

Nodding, as I give her the understanding she needs right now.

“If you need anything Jamie, and I mean anything just call me, and I will do whatever I can. As for that asshole, just forget him the best you can, and I know when feelings are involved it’s not easy.

We have to do what we can to protect our hearts, and it’s his loss because you are one heck of a catch. ”

Jamie wipes a tear that escapes, and she does it angrily. “I’m going to have a break, sort out my feelings and then come back to get back into my life without him in it.”

“Okay, leave things with me, Jamie, but say goodbye before you leave tonight.”

“I will, Molly. Thank you for understanding and taking all this extra work on your already busy desk.” Jamie gives me a weak smile when I walk over and squeeze her shoulder to give her a small touch of comfort.

Later that day, I have Simon organized to cover Jamie’s patients, and I give extra chores to Marie who is a new administrator, but only works a few hours per week.

Everyone else has been informed that Jamie will be away for two weeks, and to contact me with any problems. Margaret, the medical assistant, is on alert and knows she may be called in at short notice, and Tom has given me his word he will not quit in the time Jamie is away.

It was a running joke between us that he was going to quit and leave me in a mess.

But he is a jokester when given the chance, and it’s one of the things I really like about him.

Walking into the clubhouse, I rub my hands together and turn to look at Breaker. “Next time slow down; my knees were knocking. You know it’s all new to me being on the back of a bike.”

Breaker laughs like I’ve told a freaking joke, then kisses my nose and heads to the bar. I walk over to Bri and Marcia who are talking quietly in their usual place in the rec room. “Hi, you two, what have you been up to?”

“Nothing much. We have a few ideas for you to look at for the wedding, but we need to speak with Whack first,” Bri replies after taking a drink of the iced-tea in front of her.

Marcia grins. “Take no notice of her, Molly. She’s pissed that Julia keeps hitting on Saddle.”

“She doesn’t?” I’m shocked enough to ask.

Bri nods. “Oh, she does, but I’m pissed he doesn’t push her away from him.”

“Oh…” That’s all I manage to say before Bri jumps to her feet and stares at something across the room. Shit, Saddle is standing looking down at Julia who has her hand on his chest. But the bad part is the fact that he is not pushing her away from him.

Bri slaps her drink on the table splashing it across the table right before she storms over to the pair of them. Attracting everyone in the rec room as she stomps across and I mean not daintily. “Get your fuckin’ hands off my man.”

“Well, your man doesn’t have an issue with it,” Julia brags right before Bri reacts.

Bri rears her arm back and punches Julia in the face, and as she staggers back Bri follows through and punches her again. As she is falling backwards Bri kicks her legs from under her and laughs harshly as she points at her. “You go near my man again and see what you get.”

Saddle is doing and saying nothing, which has Bri even more riled up than she was. She rears her leg back and kicks his shin as hard as she can. Now, watching a biker hopping around on one foot cursing the air blue is quite a funny sight, but not a person in the rec room dare laugh.

Bri, with tears running down her cheek’s snarls at Saddle. “Don’t come home; you're not welcome.” I watch with my mouth gaping open as Bri storms out of the rec room.

Marcia taps my arm. “I’m going with Bri. You stay and speak with Whack.”

“Shouldn’t I come with you?” I’m still watching Saddle rubbing his shin, and Julia crying, and I mean ugly crying. Total devastation is what it is when this is the aftermath of how they have made Bri feel.

“No, she’ll want to be on her own, but she’ll suffer me being with her because I’ve been where she is, and she was there for me.”

“Okay, but if I can do anything I’ll come.”

“I know you will. You sort out with Whack, but look at the ideas we had,” Marcia quickly says as she grabs her purse and follows Bri out of the rec room, giving Saddle a very nasty look as she passes. She snarls at Julia too, which makes Julia flinch and rush out of the rec room.

I look over my shoulder at Breaker who is smirking at Saddle, right before shaking his head at him. He must sense me looking at him as he turns and gives me an outrageous wink and smirk. I frown, which of course makes Breaker throw his head back laughing.

Turning my back on him, I open the folder that Marcia left for me to look at and see where they are going with the theme.

I admit I love it, and it is going to fit perfectly with our dresses if Whack will allow it.

Picking up the folder I look around, and not seeing Whack I head straight to his office.

I admit I gave Saddle a filthy look as I passed and crossed my eyes and stuck my tongue out at Breaker. I’m sure he finds me his type of funny for the day, because he again laughs loudly at my antics.

Knocking on the door I enter when Whack calls, “Come in.”

“I hope it’s not too late to have a word with you?” I ask and try to keep my voice sweet.

“What can I do for you, Molly?” Whack leans back in his seat and gives me all his attention.

“Well, I have this theme that I thought would be nice for the wedding if you would allow it.” I drop the folder in front of Whack and take a seat where I wait patiently for him to look over the idea.

“I like it. It’s not that flimsy bows and frilly shit everywhere. It’s more biker-like, you know tough and not…”

“Yeah, I know. I’m not that sort either Whack. Do you want to see our dresses, but…you are sworn to secrecy?”

Whack frowns and is about to say no, when he must see something in my face and nods. I walk over and open my phone, scrolling to the photographs at the dress shop. I explain that Bri and Marcia’s are the opposite color to mine, and he nods, showing he understands, before he looks at the phone.

“Fuck, Molly, that is stunning. Breaker is going to go crazy when he sees you in that.” Whack smiles as he looks up at me. “Shame they didn’t kidnap me, Molly. I’d have jumped to tie you up as my old lady, but alas…” Whack holds a hand dramatically over his heart, “It wasn’t to be.”

I kiss Whack's cheek as I take my phone and give him a huge smile. “I think we can do this end of next week if Bull gets the license in time.”

Whack grins, “I’ll get him on the case, so don’t you worry none. I’ll make sure this will happen end of next week. How about Saturday?”

“That would be great.” Walking out of the office, I feel delighted, and now I have something good to tell Bri and Marcia. That’s if Bri is going to be up for a wedding by then?

I come to a standstill when I see Bri, Marcia and Pattie sitting where I’d been earlier. Rushing over, I sit and look at Bri. “I thought you’d gone home. Are you okay?”

“I’m okay, but I’m going to kill that bitch if she tries it again,” Bri is looking around the rec room, and thankfully Saddle is standing near the bar with Breaker who is giving him a serious talking to by the look of it. Julia is nowhere to be seen, so that’s a good thing at the moment.

Pattie leans forward in her seat and taps her fingernails on the table.

“Julia is doing it to get a rise out of you, Bri. She’s not as innocent as everyone thinks she is.

If she tries again, I suggest you go at her hard, and yeah you punched her, but you need to do some damage, and let her and your old man know it’s disrespectful. ”

Marcia squeezes Bri’s hand, and I give her a nod of encouragement. “We are with you, Bri. Whatever is needed we are standing with you.”

“Thank you. I was ready to go home, pack my stuff and leave town. I’m sick of this shit happening all the time.” Bri rubs her hands together, then looks at Marcia. “You are the best friend I could have ever had, and I’m so lucky to have you in my life.”

“Hey, I told you we are BFFs and you can’t get rid of me, no way, no how. If you run off I’m coming as well.” Marcia puts her arm around Bri, and I put my hand on top of Bri’s hand on the table. Both of us show Bri the support she has.

“Did I tell you guys that I’m not a club girl any longer?” Pattie states shocking the three of us.

“What?” Marcia splutters.

Pattie grins. “No, I’m working for the club as the marketing and design manager for the businesses, and I’m going to expand my clientele.

I always wanted to do this, and that’s why I came here to earn the money to do the courses.

Whack knew that’s what I wanted to do as I told him that when I first walked into the clubhouse.

I wanted away from my stepfather too; he was a disgusting person. ”

“Yeah, well, that is behind you now,” Bri smiles for the first time in a few hours.

“Do you think you could do a marketing plan for the practice? I would be happy to look at it. The website for the practice is outdated, so ideas for that would be good as well.” I give Pattie a serious look so she knows I’m not messing with her.

“I can do that, Molly. Wow, thank you so much for the opportunity,” Pattie gushes, and gives me a huge smile.

“Let me have it when you’ve done it, and we’ll sit down together and discuss it.”

“I have a small office here that Whack allowed me to have. It’s only like a closet but I can work in it, and Bull has set up everything I’ll need. I’m going to prove to them I’m thankful for all they’ve done for me,” Pattie says this with such warmth you know she is genuine in what she’s saying.

The next morning, I look up when someone taps on the open office door. I’m more than a little surprised when Ghost is standing in the doorway. “Ghost?”

“Hi, Molly, I hope you don’t mind my coming to speak with you. I asked Breaker if it was okay, and he said to come here.”

Now, I’ve never seen a biker look worried, but I can see Ghost is. “Come on in and take a seat. Would you like a coffee?”

“No thanks, I’m too nervous to drink it.” Ghost chuckles, and I settle back in my seat and wait for him to speak.

When he continues to sit quietly, I have to ask. “So, what can I do for you, Ghost?”

“I wondered if you would speak to Thorn for me. He won’t give me the time of day, and I need him to know why I left, and that I had left provision for him to be looked after.” Rubbing his hand over the back of his neck shows his nervousness. “He doesn’t know the entire story.”

“Okay, tell me the story, Ghost, and then I’ll decide if I’ll help you or not.”

In the next ninety-minutes Ghost tells me everything that he has been doing, how he thought his son was being looked after. He wants a relationship and to join the MC. Even the fact that he’s going to find his so-called friend and either beat the shit out of him, or put him six feet underground.

Tapping my fingers on the desk when Ghost has finished speaking, I give it serious thought.

I like Thorn, and I know he is not in a good place as far as his father is concerned, but he needs to know it all.

“I’ll help you. But you stay away from him until I’ve spoken with him.

Go to the clubhouse, find a way of being useful, make it so you are reliable, trustworthy, and will make a good brother.

It’s the only way this is going to work. ”

“I can do that, Molly. Thank you,” Ghost states, and I can hear the sincerity in his voice.

“Don’t thank me yet, Ghost,” I reply, and watch him walk out of the office. Now, how am I going to approach Thorn!
