Chapter Fourteen
Okay it looks like someone lost a glitter war in the gym.
“Under the stars? We had a prom theme like this.” Hilary coos.
Theres a large monitor flipping through all our old high school photos and I watch it as it goes through, until I see a picture of Katherine and myself. One I never knew existed. Its of us holding hands walking down the hall with our cap and gowns. When I convinced her to spend the week with me.
“Westley!” George shouts from a table where he has two seats saved next to him.
“Knox!” I turn to see Max and Knox, pointing at each other from across the gym. They move towards each other quickly. Knox looks basically the same, maybe a little more built. I heard he tried to go pro with boxing, but they didnt accept him because he couldnt pass a drug test. Not that it was any of my business.
I escort Hilary into the gym until we reach George. “Knox opened a boxing gym in the city and Max joined the military.” George catches me up on everything hes learned since hes gotten here.
Theres music, laughter and drinking all around us. Its just like prom, were sitting here alone, well plus Hilary, and everyone else is ignoring us.
“Kitty!” Max shouts, drawing my attention to the door. “I havent seen you since Seattle! Three years ago! Hows the kid?”
“Shes perfect. Shes with a friend.” Katherine replies.
“You got some guy now? Is that the friend?” I eavesdrop so hard on their conversation while staring at Hilary, nodding my head as she talks.
“No, no guy for me. Just a friend.” Katherine replies, my heart fluttering at the sound of her voice.
“But for real, how is Miss McKenna? Shes what, four now?”
“Yeah she just turned four earlier this month.” She answers, I can hear the smile in her voice.
“You got a kid? Damn.” Knox chimes in.
“Yup. Sure do. How about you? Im sure you have several, the way you treat your women.”
“Nah, no kids. Cant have them, sterile as fuck.” Knox replies.
“Too many ‘roids?” I bite my tongue, trying not to laugh.
“Nah, genetics. How about a quick fuck for old times sake?” He asks. He literally asked that, here in the middle of a room full of people with our table within ear shot.
“Ask me after a couple of drinks.” She laughs. My head jerks around to look at her. Her icy blue eyes are staring daggers at me, like she knew I was listening.
“Dont you think?” Hilary asks, pulling my attention away.
“Sure Hun.” I reply, acting like Im looking around the room. “Im gonna go get some drinks. Maybe talk to Max after.” I reply as the chair pushes away from the table when I stand.
“Gin and tonic for me.” Hilary states turning her attention to George, Im like eighty percent certain that George is into Hilary, but it doesnt bother me like it should. I let my feet carry me from the table to the bar, which just so happens to be right behind Max, Katherine, and Knox.
“West. My guy. How are you?” Max asks as he turns to notice me standing at the bar.
“Good.” I reply.
“What are you up to these days?” He asks.
I put a quick order in for our drinks and turn to talk to him. Katherine and Knox having their own conversation. “Im getting married in a couple months, then off to law school.”
“No shit. Married. To who?” I point to the blonde bombshell that is my fiancee and he whistles. “Damn dude. Shes hot.”
Yes. Yes she is. Hot, rich, and fucking boring. “She is.” I respond, respectfully. I look over at Kat, whos cheeks are now bright red. She looks pissed. Knox says something into Kat’s ear and she nods. He takes her by the hand and they leave.
“I always thought you and Kitty would be a couple.”
“I tried. She turned me down, so I went to college.”
“You know she has her own business,” he nods his head, “yeah a tattoo shop. Her and the kid live in Washington, and shes famous for her work in the PNW.”
“Tattoo artist?” I ask, making sure I heard him correctly.
“Yeah, when I saw her in Seattle she had just finished her internship and was tattooing. She gave me this.’ he pulls his sleeve up, showcasing an entire scene, wrapping his forearm. Theres boots, with a gun and a helmet with woods behind it and a flag with dog tags. “I lost a friend and she helped me design this.” Its fucking beautiful work.
“Thats amazing.” I say. The drinks I ordered are out on the bar, “Did she ever tell you who the father was?”
“Nah, I did ask her if it was Knox’s kid though. She said no. So I have no idea.” he shrugs. “Not really my business though. We grew apart when I moved to Florida.
“That sucks. Im sorry.” I pick up the drinks, “Well, I shouldnt keep her waiting.” I reply nodding over to Hilary.
“No man, you shouldnt.” Max laughs, patting me on the back.
After a few drinks and a couple more awkward ‘whats happening in your life’ conversations, I have to pee. ”Ill be back.” I kiss Hilary on the cheek and stand up.
“Where are you going?” She asks.
“To piss.” I reply, hating that she always asks what Im doing like an insecure Barbie. “Ill come, you can show me around after.”
I let out a sigh, I wasnt just going to the bathroom. I was going to talk to Katherine. She hasnt come back in here since she left with Knox, so who knows where she is, but I figured I could find her. I used to always know where she was.
“Bathrooms.” I push the door open, relief washing over me as I step in and away from her. Remember West, your goals lineup. I tell myself, but even in my own head, I know its not true.
I step up to the urinal and unzip my pants only to hear a sigh. I turn my head, not seeing anyone, then focus my attention back on the little blue urinal cake as a stream flows from me.
“Not looking. Totally not looking.” Her voice, the one that haunts my dreams. The one I hear clear as bell every time I close my eyes.
“Katherine?” Needless to say, the stream stops and I tuck myself back in.
“Fuck. Im sorry. I just.” She rolls her eyes and looks at me. “Im hiding from fucking Nicole Breshears. She spotted me and I ran. I couldnt hear about her perfect marriage and perfect life anymore.”
“Nicole was talking to you?” I ask, lifting a brow in disbelief as I walk to the sink to wash my hands.
“Hey, I wasnt always the darkened soul that rocks harder than any bitch here. I was once the painted bimbo that walked right alongside her. Remember?” She looks in the mirror over my shoulder and fluffs her space buns. She looks the exact same. Some more ink and more piercings than before. She had one lip ring the last time I truly saw her and now shes sporting two lip rings, a nose ring and the one in the middle of her nose. The septum? Yeah, I think thats what its called. She has butterfly tattoos on her neck and her hands have some too.
“I remember how miserable you were walking in those groups.” I say shaking the water off as I reach for a paper towel. “I also remember watching you find yourself. You seem to be doing good.”
“I am. I really am.” She says confidently with a smile on her face.
“And your daughter? Shes good?”
“Yes, McKenna is amazing.”
“McKenna?” I lift a brow, studying her face. “Why would you name your daughter that?” I ask, straightening up to look her in the eyes.
Her eyes dart to the door. “Dont you have a bride to be out there?” She clears her throat and motions for me to leave. “You wouldnt want her to think you were all alone in the bathroom with your ex girlfriend, no would ya?”
“You named your daughter McKenna?”
“Go find your fiance, Westley.” She turns away from me, and I fall back against the sink, my fingers gripping the porcelain tightly.
“Why?” I ask her again.
“Because its a beautiful name.” She snaps, turning to face me with anger in her eyes, “Now leave, or Ill leave and then let you explain this away to her.”
“You shouldnt have used that name.” I stand up staring her right in her soul crushed face, she almost looks sad now. “That name wasnt just yours.”
“No? What was I supposed to do then, huh? It was the only name I could think of. You left, you went to college, I was left alone and scared.”
“You pushed me away Katherine!” I close the gap between us, my heart racing rapidly against my chest.
“You shouldnt have used the name we picked out while we were living a high life dreaming of a future that you never planned on living.” My words are laced with venom. “You stole that name from a happier time, why? So you didnt feel guilty for ripping my fucking heart out?”
She doesnt say anything as the tears swelling in her eyes are blinked down her cheeks, falling until they disappear. She turns and storms out of the bathroom and I chase her down “Katherine, wait.”
Im stopped immediately as I rush through the door by perfectly manicured pink nails and blonde hair, “Why the heck was she in there with you?”
“Not now Hilary.” I remove her hand from my chest and run after Katherine, only to lose her in the hall of the second floor. Fuck. I look back and forth three different times, looking again to make sure I didnt miss her.
Theres a soft sound of laughter when I walk down the hall, the dark rooms greet me as I go. But theres a light coming from our old biology class.
“Kitty Kat?” I hear Knoxs obnoxious voice as I reach the room. “Why are you crying?” He asks.
“Go away Knox.” She says. I look through the window in the door to see him walking towards her. Shes sitting on one of the tables, staring down at her phone.
“Whatcha watching?” He asks. “Is that your little girl?” He asks as he reaches the edge of the table. “Shes beautiful. Like her momma.”
“She has more of her father in her than me.”
“You know who her father is?” He asks, taken back at her response.
“Yes, Ive always known who her father is, he just never cared.”
“Shes still not mine right?”
Katherine laughs as she wipes away a tear. “No Knox, shes not yours.” Katherines face glows from the screen and the way her face lights up shows me just how much she loves her daughter.
“Why are you up here crying by yourself?” He asks, moving his hand to her knee.
“I wanted to forget.” She replies, looking over at him. Her cheeks still wet from her tears.
“How can I help?” He asks. He seems nicer now, than earlier. Like maybe downstairs was all an act? Or maybe this is all an act? Who knows Knox has always been a piece of shit, so its probably the latter.
“Help me like you used to.” She replies, sitting the phone down after shutting the screen off. She’s asking him to do what he used to do to her? Seriously?
“Like I used to? Awe pet. I never stopped.” He grabs her by the throat and slams her to the table.
A hand on my arm scares the fuck out of me as I turn to see Hilary standing there, pissed the fuck off. “Shes no longer your concern.” Hilary states rudely.
I turn my attention back to Katherine as Knoxs hand starts moving up her leg. Fuck. Thats not what she needs. Ive always known what she needs. She doesnt need or want to be controlled, she wants the control.
“Leave her in the past. Im your future.” Hilarys annoying voice pierces my ears like a goddamn hot poker.
I turn to look at the beautiful, boring bombshell and then back to my dark, psychotic, and very broken vixen and know exactly where my heart lies. Its always been Katherines who the fuck was I kidding? Trying to divorce Katherine after thinking it was a fake marriage, just to marry someone just like my mother. “Fuck off, Hilary.”
I swing the door to the biology room open, both Knox and Kat look at me. “Get your fucking hands off my wife.” I shout, a deep growl threatening to break free as my fists clench at my sides.
“Wife?” Knox says letting go of Katherine.
“Wife?” Katherine repeats as she sits up. “Who the fuck do you think you are? You came here with a blonde bimbo who my brother so graciously told me was your soon to be wife, and now youre here claiming Im your wife. Have you lost your mind?”
“State of Nevada recognized our Elvis tour as a real wedding. Weve been married for nearly five years.” I state.
“What. The. Fuck?” Hilary shouts from behind me. She’s known about the marriage, but I’m assuming she’s more pissed off about me interfering with Knox and Katherine.
I turn to face her, “I know youre fucking George, go be with him like you want to be.” I wave her off and turn back to the only woman Ive ever loved. “Knox, if you dont fucking leave right now, I will fuck her in front of you, and I swear to God, if you try to stop me, Ill tie you down and fuck you next.”
“Psychos. The pair of you.” He throws his hands up and leaves quickly. Pot meet kettle pervert.
My heart is racing and I feel like I could probably throw up. But, this is the right thing to do. “Who do you think you are?” Katherine jumps down from the table. “Waltzing in here like Im some sort of prize, staking your claim on me. I havent spoken to you in four and a half years.”
“Thats all my fault Kitty and Im so sorry.”
“Four and a half years. And not a single time did you respond to any of my calls or texts. You went as far as to change your number to avoid me. Fuck, I called George more than once to get a hold of you. And you couldnt bother to call me back, let alone tell me were married. Like for real, for real, married.” She shoves at my chest, hitting it harder than she used to.
“Im sorry, Kitty.” I respond, letting her get her feelings out, knowing that she needs to go through the emotions I went through when I found out. There is nothing I can say that will fix this, but looking down into those icy blue orbs, its like nothing has changed in five years. Were still that same couple at the end of high school.
“You think you can just walk back into my life and tell me who I can and can’t fuck. If I wanted to fuck Knox, then I can. I’m a big girl now.” She shoulders past me, but as I turn, I grab her arm, pulling her back to me. Our chests meet and when she puts her palms on my arm I close my eyes, remembering what she felt like. She shoves me off, “Fuck you, Westley.”
“Is that a challenge Kitty?” I lift her off the floor and put her up on the table.
“No.” I push my hand up her thigh, right under the skirt. She lets out a moan, but her fingers grab mine. “I didn’t say you could do that.”
“Then why aren’t you stopping me?” I ask, pushing her underwear to the side until I find that shes soaked. Dripping and I haven’t even started yet. When my fingers slide into her, she spreads her legs wider and arches her back. “Do you like being a little slut, Kitty?” I twist my fingers so I can get a better angle, feeling her beast.
“I fucking hate you Westley.” She breathes, shoving at my chest again. I guess some things really don’t change. But, when I’m shoved away from her, my fingers are pulled from their home, and now that I’ve felt her again. I’m not sure I can leave her this time. She has always been my end game, I don’t know who I was fooling with Hilary. Myself maybe? But, it just never felt right with her.
Here, now, with Katherine, everything feels like its supposed to be. I bring my fingers up to my lips and suck them in, tasting her as I let out a moan of my own. Jesus fucking Christ, I have missed her.
She drops down from the table, and straightens out her skirt. “You make me fucking crazy,” I spit, loosening the collar of my shirt.
“Yeah, well ditto.” She spits, her eyes flare at me. Her body is close to mine and I can smell the faint scent of her perfume and a smell that is irrevocably her.
I watch as she plays with her lip ring, running her tongue along the silver hoop like a nervous tick. She looks up at me and glares, her black rimmed eyes magnifying the gorgeous color there.
I reach up and trace the butterfly tattoo on her neck with my index finger.
“Don’t touch me,” she snips, batting my hand away.
“You didn’t mind me touching you before, in fact I’m pretty sure you begged for it.” I reply, returning my hand to where it was before.
“That was then, this is now. You have no right to touch me.” She takes a step back, fury displayed on her face.
“I think you forget that I have tasted every inch of you, I know what you look like when you come, I know what your fucking tears taste like.”
“Again, then and now,” she says, anger radiating off of her. She’s angry, I’m fucking livid. I close the gap between us, pushing her back against the table, my hands trap her in palm down on the surface.
“You can pretend all you want Kitty, but you like being my little slut, look at you, your pussy is leaking down your thighs right now and I’ve barely touched you.” I lean forward so my mouth is inches from her ear, “I bet if I checked you’d coat my hand and this table, wouldn’t you baby?”
“I’m not your baby,” she spits, shouldering me away from her since her hands are otherwise preoccupied.
“The fuck you’re not,” I say releasing her hands and grabbing her thighs to hoist her up around my hips.
“Put me the fuck down, right now Westley, I will murder you.” She screeches, grabbing at my shoulders like her life depends on it.
“No,” I tell her as I stomp towards the couch, “you wanna fuck someone, you’re going to fuck me. Period.”
“I’ve seen more dicks in the last five years than you have seen pussy in your entire life. So don’t act like your dick is gods gift to women.” She rolls her eyes at me exaggeratedly and I feel my dick pressing against her but the damn clothes are in the way. I drop her to the table, letting her ass hit harder since my girl likes the pain with pleasure. She’s always liked the pain, it helps her through the past.
“Tell me though Kitty, did you compare their dick’s to mine? When they were filling you were you wondering how I would have done it? Wondering if it would have been better with me? Tell me Kitty Kat, who’s cock did you think about when you rubbed this sweet pussy on a lonely night?” My fingers push her underwear aside again, only this time, I rip them, so she can’t cover herself back up.
“I’m not fucking you here.” Katherine moans as I push two fingers inside. Her body welcomes the intrusion as she milks my fingers.
“That’s fine Kitty, but you are fucking me. I’ll fuck you right here.”
“No,” she protests, “somewhere else.” Moaning as I thrust my fingers into her, her hands gripping my shirt tightly.
“Where exactly do you want to go, back to the hotel where your daughter is, or back to my house where Hilary is?” I pull my fingers from her, licking them clean again. Then, I’m quick to undo my belt and shift my pants to pull my cock out. Pressing the tip against her as I pull her hips to the edge. “Take all of me Kitty, just like you used to.” When I push into her, everything around me fades. The anger, the fury, the chairs, the tables. It’s just us. Like it’s meant to be.
