Chapter 12
RAELYNN
Raelynn was exhausted when they got home from the audiologist. Listening to all the sounds to see what was too loud or quiet, and hearing for the first time in three years, was hard. She didn’t realize how much it was going to take out of her.
“How are you feeling?” Daddy gently asked.
Rae flinched and looked over at Daddy, not expecting him to talk to her. She was going to have to get used to that as well. Actually being able to hear people talk to her, without having to wait for them to write on the whiteboard or their phones.
“Honestly?” she asked, and Daddy nodded. “Honestly, I want to take it out. I don’t want to listen to anything right now. It’s so overwhelming, and I’m already exhausted from everything he had me listen to at the office.”
It wasn’t going to work at all.
Daddy grabbed her hands in his. “I know you’re overwhelmed right now and exhausted from it, but he mentioned you needed to keep it on, so your brain gets used to it. You’ll take it off at night, but he said you really need to wear it during the day so that it won’t hurt as much later.”
Tears pooled in her eyes as she looked up at Daddy. “But I don’t want to wear it right now. I don’t want to make my brain work when it’s already exhausted. All I want to do is sleep without hearing.”
True to Daddy’s words, he had taken her to a different house for the week. He didn’t want her to get overwhelmed with everybody talking at the clubhouse. Which was very thoughtful of Daddy, and she wouldn’t have thought of it if she were on her own.
“I know, Little Fairy, but you have a couple more hours in today, and then we’re going to go to bed earlier tonight.
We don’t have to talk much for the rest of the day, but we need to sum so that your brain can get used to the sounds,” Daddy explained.
“Now, do you want anything for dinner, or do you want Daddy to decide for you?”
“You can decide,” she mumbled.
“Why don’t you sit in this chair while Daddy cooks, and you can watch me?” He led her over to a chair at the opening of the kitchen. “Daddy is going to be cooking, and you get to watch me so that you won’t feel alone.”
Even though she wanted it to be silent so that her brain could stop working, she didn’t want to be alone, and Daddy knew that.
He knew everything.
Rae sat in the chair and zoned out as Daddy started to cook dinner.
The first words he had said to her that she understood were “Little Fairy.” Raelynn had cried right then, making the doctor panic a little.
But she couldn’t help it. It had been so many years since she had heard him call her that so tenderly… affectionately.
And now she got to listen to it for the rest of her life, or as long as she was with Daddy.
They still hadn’t gotten closer to figuring out who Edmund was, and she wasn’t going to give away any hints.
It was better if they just forgot about it and she left, but Daddy wasn’t going to allow her to do that, and she knew Levi and Reaper wouldn’t, either.
They had become friends with her since she arrived. She didn’t know how they had managed to, but they had. They were like another set of big brothers she never had.
Protective.
Caring.
Loving.
Worrying.
And so many more things.
It was weird to have something like that in her life when she hadn’t had anything like that in a very long time. It was so weird that Rae talked to Daddy about it and told him to tell them to stop. That didn’t work out, and they were still the same as before. Now she was starting to get used to it.
“What are you thinking about?” Daddy asked.
She shrugged as she rested her head against the wall.
“Ah, Little Fairy. We aren’t doing that.” Daddy gave her a pointed look.
Sighing, she blinked and stared at Daddy. He really wanted her to use her brain today, like the doctor had told her to. Why did he have to be a stickler for rules and regulations?
“Just about the clubhouse and Levi and Reaper,” she finally said. “I was thinking about finally getting to hear you call me Little Fairy again.”
She could die right now, and she wouldn’t have any regrets. Rae got to hear him call her that nickname several times today, and she was living for it.
“You might get sick of me calling you Little Fairy now.” He chuckled. “What are you thinking about them for?”
She shook her head. “There is no way that I’m going to get tired of hearing you call me that. It makes me feel all tingly inside, and like I’m close to you again.”
“Because you are. We are together, and nothing can separate us now,” Daddy said as he knelt in front of her. “My feelings for you are never going to change. You are it for me.”
“And you’re it for me as well,” she whispered.
For as long as she’d be able to have him. For as long as Edmund couldn’t find her. Rae was going to cherish every minute she had with Daddy because she didn’t know if it was ever going to end.
“Now, do you want to tell me why you were thinking about Levi and Reaper at the clubhouse?” Daddy asked.
“You are not getting any wild ideas about possibly going to one of them or bringing one into the relationship? Daddy doesn’t know if he can share you.
I’m quite possessive, and I would murder anybody if they came into our relationship. ”
Rae chuckled and playfully slapped Daddy’s shoulder. “Of course not, Daddy. I just told you that you were it for me. I don’t think I would want to share anybody with you, either. I like what we have here.”
“Good, good. Now, tell me why you were thinking about them,” he demanded.
She rolled her eyes. “I was just thinking about how they pushed their way into my life, and now I won’t ever be able to get rid of them.”
“Damn right you won’t be able to. You’re part of the family now, and nobody’s going to allow you to leave.” Daddy booped her nose. “Whoa, Little Fairy, why are you crying?”
“What if I do something wrong and they don’t want me anymore?” She asked.
She had spent the majority of her life not being wanted. Not until Butch came along and bugged her until she finally gave in and became friends with him. Then it blossomed into them getting together and being the happiest couple alive, even if it was in secret.
Daddy cupped her cheeks. “They would never do that, and you won’t be able to do anything that would make them want to.
Sure, they might do something that annoys you, or you might do something that gets on their nerves, but they aren’t going to not want to know you anymore.
They’ve already accepted you into their lives.
You’re stuck with us for the rest of our lives.
I know you’re going to have some doubts in your life about things that happen at the clubhouse, but I just want you to know that you can come to any of us and ask for reassurance.
Everyone is more than willing to help you in that regard. They would gladly do it.”
Daddy gently wiped away her tears with his thumbs before leaning in and kissing her forehead and then her nose, and then gave her a quick peck on the lips.
“More?” she asked.
She wanted to go further with him. She wanted to do everything with him like she had when they were in high school.
“No more right now. I know you want to do it, and I do too, but a lot has happened. I think we just need to relax a little and not do anything too strenuous. We don’t want you to get sick from being exhausted,” Daddy explained.
Rae pushed her bottom lip out as she looked at him. “No fair. I know a lot has happened, but I’m okay.”
Daddy gave her a pointed look. “You were just complaining about being exhausted mentally and physically, and wanting to take off your cochlear implant because everything was getting so overwhelming. So, as much as I would love to do it with you, we aren’t going to do it because you need to rest and get used to our new normal.
Do you understand? I’m not doing this to punish you. ”
“It feels like a punishment, though,” she mumbled. “But I do understand, and I know that if anything were to happen, I would regret it or push through it.”
Daddy kissed her forehead before letting go of her face and getting back to cooking. “But once you get back to your new normal, we can talk about doing things.”
Her cheeks flushed at how casually they were talking about everything. They had never minded talking about this before, but it didn’t matter how long they had known each other. She still got embarrassed about it.
“I see you’re still fine talking about these things, but can’t help but blush at the same time.” Daddy laughed.
It was music to her ears to hear him laugh. She had played his laugh over and over and over again in the past eight years when he was gone. But to hear it again in real time was a treat.
“You need to laugh more,” she said before she could stop herself.
Daddy leaned against the counter, folding his arms over his chest and giving her a smirk. “You like it when Daddy laughs?”
She shyly nodded.
“How much do you like it when Daddy laughs?”
“A lot,” she panted. “So much. I didn’t know a laugh could turn me on.”
Daddy chuckled and shook his head. “I’ll make sure to laugh frequently for you.”
Rae ducked her head and covered her face with her hands. When they were in high school, she loved the sound of it, but it never turned her on as much as it was right now. She could feel her panties getting wet as she replayed the sound in her head.
“Is my Little Fairy turned on right now?” Daddy asked.
She didn’t dare look up at Daddy. He knew that she was turned on because she’d told him.
“Can you answer, Daddy?” he asked.
She shook her head. “You already know.”
“But Daddy wants to hear from your lips. Daddy wants to hear you tell him,” he said.
Raelynn looked up and made eye contact. “And if I tell you, you’re not going to do anything about it because you said we weren’t going to do anything, because today has been very overwhelming.
I don’t want to talk about it anymore and get more aroused than I already am.
You’re just going to leave me all flustered and needy. Maybe I’ll just touch myself.”
The smile dropped from his face as he looked at her. “You that you’re not allowed to touch yourself.”
“Who said that?” she asked. “I don’t remember you telling me I wasn’t allowed to touch myself. I don’t remember you writing it on your phone or the whiteboard. So I think I can touch myself as much as I want.”
Warning bells went off in her head as he slowly stalked toward her.
Daddy gripped her chin between his forefinger and thumb, tilting her head back so she was looking up at him.
“Before your surgery, we decided all your rules from before were the same. I even wrote them down and gave them to you so you would remember. One of those rules was you’re not allowed to touch yourself, and if you do, then there will be consequences.
Your pleasure is mine and mine alone. I get to decide when you have a release. ”
“That doesn’t seem fair,” she mumbled.
“All you have to do is ask. You’ve asked before, and I’ve always given you pleasure. It might not be right away, but I’ve always given it to you unless you were super naughty,” he pointed out.
She opened and closed her mouth several times before ultimately leaving it shut. He had her there. She had read the text of her rules, and it was on there, but she was hoping he had forgotten.
“Now that we’ve gone over that again, dinner is ready,” he announced as he let her chin go. “Why don’t you go sit at the table while I bring over the food?”
