Volume 1 Chapter 2 - Fluttering Morning
Morning sunlight poured through the leaves, painting the forest in hues of gold and green.
Tiny droplets of dew shimmered like diamonds on blades of grass, and the cool air smelled of flowers and moss.
Cindy fluttered gently from leaf to leaf, still amazed by how different everything looked now. The world wasn't just big—it was massive. A single mushroom looked like a tower, and even a puddle could reflect the sky like a lake.
"Okay... day one as a butterfly," she muttered, more to herself than anyone else. "Goal number one: Don't die."
Her wings glowed faintly as she landed on a flower. The nectar sparkled invitingly, and she hesitated for a second. "Do butterflies even... drink this stuff?"
Instinct took over before she could think too hard—her tiny mouth unfurled into a thin tube, and she began sipping the nectar.
"Sweet... it's like honey water!"
A warmth spread through her body, refilling the faint tingle of energy inside her chest.

Her eyes widened. "Wait, even drinking gives me experience? I can level up from this?!"
The idea made her laugh, a small giggle that came out as a cheerful flutter.
Cindy spent the next few hours testing everything she could—hovering between flowers, gliding from branches, trying to fly higher than the treetops. Each movement felt more natural, as though her body remembered things her human mind didn't.
Sometimes she'd crash into petals or get caught by the wind, spinning helplessly until she found her balance again. But she was learning. Slowly.
"This isn't so bad," she thought. "It's peaceful... quiet. No alarms, no patients screaming, no running through hospital halls."
She landed on a rock near a small stream. The water was so clear she could see strange fish with glowing fins darting below. Cindy leaned closer, her reflection rippling across the surface.
Her wings shone a gentle blue, but deep within the glow, a faint golden light pulsed—like a heartbeat.
"What am I, really?" she whispered. "Just a butterfly... or something more?"
Before she could ponder further, a rustle in the bushes startled her.
She froze, hiding behind a blade of grass.
A small creature emerged—fluffy, with long ears and a tiny horn on its forehead.
It looked like a rabbit mixed with a unicorn foal.
It sniffed around curiously, nibbling on flowers. Cindy relaxed a little.
"Aww... so cute," she whispered.
Then her instincts flared—a predator's shadow loomed above.
From the sky, a Spirit Hawk dived, its talons gleaming with mana. The small creature squeaked and darted into the underbrush. Cindy's body moved before her mind did—she hid under a leaf, trembling.
The hawk's eyes scanned the area, then it soared away.
Only when the silence returned did Cindy dare to breathe again.
"This world really doesn't give anyone a break," she sighed.
Still, when she peeked out again, she saw the little rabbit-creature peeking from a bush, watching her curiously. It tilted its head, then hopped closer.
Cindy blinked. "You're... not scared of me?"
The tiny beast sniffed her wings, then chirped softly—like a friendly greeting.
Cindy smiled. "Maybe... I'm not alone here."
For the rest of the day, Cindy and the little horned rabbit wandered together. She taught herself to land softly, to drink dew when thirsty, and even to rest under petals when the sun grew too warm. For the first time in years, she wasn't rushing anywhere.
Just living.
Just being.
As night fell, she perched on a branch, her new friend curled below her. Fireflies danced around them, their lights weaving a gentle melody through the forest.
Cindy gazed at the stars and whispered,
"Maybe this world isn't trying to kill me. Maybe... it's giving me a second chance."
Her wings shimmered faintly in the moonlight.
A new life had begun—not of chaos, but of quiet wonder.
