Volume 3 Chapter 1 - The Flames of Rebirth

The world trembled.

In the far west, Mount Valgon erupted in a storm of fire and thunder. Rivers of molten rock poured down its slopes, carving paths of destruction through forests and plains. The sky glowed crimson, and the air itself shimmered under the weight of overwhelming mana.

From the heart of the volcano, a voice echoed — the same voice Cindy had felt in her dreams.

"The seal is undone... the flame remembers..."

At that moment, every mage in the Aurelion Kingdom felt it — a surge of elemental chaos that made their spells falter. Even the guilds in the capital went silent, their mana crystals flickering uncontrollably.

And far away, in Aerith Vale, Cindy stood on the balcony of her mansion, staring westward. The horizon burned.

Puff joined her side, his hand resting on the hilt of his blade.

"The sky's bleeding again," he murmured. "Looks like that vision wasn't just a warning."

Cindy's butterfly mark shimmered faintly beneath her skin, pulsing with the rhythm of the wind. "It's beginning," she whispered. "The corrupted fragment... it's waking up."

The breeze shifted, carrying the faint scent of smoke and saltwater — strange, as the sea was days away.

The Call of the Spirits

That night, Cindy meditated within the shrine behind her mansion.

The crystal of wind pulsed before her, surrounded by motes of light. Her connection to the spirit realm had grown stronger since her evolution — she could now feel whispers beyond her immediate reach.

Suddenly, a drop of water fell upon the altar. Then another.

She looked up — there was no rain, but the air shimmered with azure light.

The surface of the offering bowl rippled, forming the image of a vast turtle shell covered in ocean waves. A gentle but commanding voice filled the chamber.

"Child of Wind... the balance breaks once more."

Cindy froze. "You— you're Undra, the Water Spirit?"

The water rippled, forming eyes deep as the sea.

"Indeed. I am Undra, Keeper of the Tides, the calm that follows the storm. The fire's corruption spreads, tainting the very rivers of mana that flow beneath your lands. Soon, it will consume the surface — and the air you command will choke with smoke."

Cindy's hands trembled slightly. "Then... can it be stopped?"

The water spirit's form darkened, waves shifting with restrained fury.

"Not alone. The Corrupted Fragment carries a portion of Ignis's divine flame — impure, unstable, but powerful enough to burn a continent. Yet where flame rages, water must rise."

A soft rumble echoed through the shrine, as if the deep sea itself had spoken.

"When the battle begins, call my name. The tide will answer."

And with that, the vision faded, leaving behind droplets of glowing blue mana that soaked into Cindy's hands. Her body felt lighter — her Spirit Affinity with Water had awakened.

Puff entered moments later, holding a lantern. "You okay? I felt a tremor from across the hall."

Cindy smiled faintly. "I think... we just found an ally."

The Spreading Flame

By dawn, reports flooded the guild.

Entire villages near the Valgon Range had vanished under waves of fire. The corrupted beasts that survived were spreading into the forests, their bodies half-melted and glowing with ember veins.

The guildmaster summoned Cindy immediately. His expression was grim.

"The western border is collapsing. If this continues, the fire will reach the capital in a month."

Puff crossed his arms. "And the army?"

"They're holding back the outer waves," the guildmaster said. "But the core—the true fragment—remains untouched within the volcano."

He turned to Cindy. "You've met the spirits before. If anyone can reach the source and survive... it's you."

Cindy nodded slowly. "Then I'll go. The fire must be stopped before it consumes everything."

The guildmaster placed a hand on her shoulder. "Then may the winds guide you—and may the waters rise beside you."

The Journey West

The next day, Cindy and Puff departed Aerith Vale.

The land grew darker with every mile, the sky tinged red and the air filled with drifting ash. Monsters fled from the mountains, their cries echoing through the valleys.

But ahead of them, on the horizon, a faint blue glow began to rise — the sign of Undra's awakening.

The ground trembled as the ocean beyond the cliffs surged unnaturally high. The waves spiraled into the sky, forming a colossal shell-shaped silhouette glowing with divine azure light.

Puff gasped. "That's—!"

Cindy's voice was calm but reverent. "Undra... the Primordial Water Spirit."

The world seemed to hold its breath.

From the volcano, a roar of flame answered — the corrupted fragment had awakened fully, taking the form of a giant burning serpent of molten stone and fire.

"WHO DARES DEFY MY RETURN?"

Cindy spread her arms, mana swirling around her in spiraling winds.

"Then let the elements clash," she whispered. "Wind and water, against corrupted flame."

Undra's colossal form rose higher, waves twisting like arms ready to strike.

"The tide awakens. Let the flames be cleansed."

And as the mountain roared, the sky split — wind and water colliding with fire in a storm that would shake the world.
