Chapter 1 The Message He Missed

“Who’s mad?”

Ji Chuan’s expression stayed cold and distant.

“Don’t waste your energy. She won’t agree.”

His mom asked, “How are you so sure?”

Ji Chuan didn’t answer.

He took her phone.

Swiped through a few guys’ photos and gave a lazy smirk.

His mom knew that arrogant look of his too well.

Ji Chuan had always crushed everyone academically and looked the part—born privileged, always the center of attention wherever he went.

“They can’t compare to you,” his mom said, “but maybe Lin Xia Yi actually likes that type?”

“Go ahead and try.”

His tone sounded completely indifferent.

Yet he stopped moving toward the door.

Ten minutes later my reply came through.

“No need, thanks Auntie.”

He barely glanced at it, wearing that “told you so” face.

Then he walked out.

He didn’t take the matter to heart anymore.

So he completely missed the second message right after.

“Auntie, I’m getting engaged next week.”
