Chapter 49

Myles closed the door, and with his hand still on the knob, he looked at me, igniting goosebumps all over my body.
“How are ya feeling,” he asked. As he stepped closer, the air around us changed, and I wiggled a little on my perch.
His actions were slow and deliberate as he felt my forehead and then kneeled in front of me, slowly pulling off my boot with the cut laces.
I winced as my ankle let me know how much it didn’t like being moved.
“About the same. You?”
“About the same,” he parroted, and an impish grin curled up the corner of his mouth.
He quickly untied the second boot and set it aside, and even though he’d seen me naked before, my poor heart was jumping around inside my chest with the look he gave me.
With a few quick flicks of his fingers, the wrap around my ankle unwound, and I sighed as it released the pressure.
He stood and gripped the edge of the counter, and my breath caught in my throat as he kissed the side of my neck. Myles breathed in and groaned. I didn’t understand why he loved to do that, but I also loved that he did it.
“Oh, Snowflake, yer perfection. Come on, arms up,” he ordered, and I lifted my arms in the air to have the long-sleeved top removed.
Myles trailed his fingertips along my arms and only stopped to inspect a bruise.
I hadn’t let anyone see the marks except for Ivy and the doctor and, of course, the parts that Vicky had caught on camera.
His eyes were heated with what seemed like a mix of rage and desire as he cupped my chin and ran his thumb over my bottom lip.
“Tell me somethin’, Snowflake. Do I make ya nervous now?” My brow lifted in question. “I know I don’t scare ya, but after…well…does being in here alone with me make ya nervous? Does me touching ya like this no longer set yer blood on fire? Fever exempted.”
I smiled and shook my head. “You always set my blood on fire,” I said, my eyes locked on his.
“And no, I’m not nervous, not even a little bit.
If there is one person on this planet, I know I can trust with every part of me.
It’s you.” He smiled and kissed me tenderly, my already dizzy head swirling as his tongue explored my mouth.
I shuddered as his hands slid down my body and gripped my ass.
He broke the kiss and laid his forehead against mine. “I need to cool down again. Let me go lay in the snow, and I’ll come back,” Myles said, kidding around. Instead of letting him go, I gripped his sweatshirt and pulled him in for another kiss until we were both panting.
Myles grabbed my hand and pressed my fingers against the side of his neck. “Ya see what yer doing to me poor heart? It’s never gonna recover.” He stood up straight and rolled out his shoulders before he pulled off his hoodie and tossed it to the ground.
“What’s the meaning behind the tattoo on your neck,” I asked as I admired the Celtic lines that wrapped around his neck. There was a wolf on the front hidden among the decorative art.
He ran his finger over a symbol. “This one is called the Dara Knot and is the symbol of strength and courage.” He turned his head to point at another piece.
“This is the Triquetra, and it means warrior.” Myles turned around and ran his hand over another one.
“This is the Shield Knot and stands for protection.”
“I’m seeing a pattern forming here,” I said. Myles turned around, smiling as he lifted his neck to show off the magnificent wolf head.
“The wolf is a pack animal, and the symbol, like the animal, stands for their loyalty and hunting prowess.”
“It’s stunning.”
“I’m designin’ one for us,” he said.
“For us? As in, I get a tattoo?”
He chuckled as he helped me off the counter and pulled the string on the track pants I was wearing.
“Aye. A matching set.” I bit my lip as I thought about having a matching tattoo with Myles.
“You’re turning me into a rebel,” I teased.
“Oh. Snowflake, I’m only gettin’ started. The corruption has just begun.” He drew his tongue along my bottom lip before he nipped at it. “I’m gonna turn on the water. Are ya steady?”
I gripped the counter and nodded, but because of how he made me feel, I still felt like saying no.
Leaning my hip against it, I unclipped my bra and let it drop before covering my chest. Was I really going to shower with him?
The spray turned on, and he held his hand under the water until he was satisfied before turning around.
He froze as his eyes traveled over my body.
“Fuck me, yer a sight. Bloody hell, Snowflake. We better get ya in here before I lose my mind.” It didn’t matter what he said.
Myles always made me blush. He stepped in close and growled softly as his thumbs hooked into my underwear.
A shiver that had nothing to do with the fever raced down my spine, and I gasped as he pulled them down over my hips.
He picked me up, and with a little kick of my feet, they fell to the floor. I was officially naked for him.
Myles never took his eyes off mine as he set me into the shower and then took off his socks before stepping in with me.
“Are you not taking off the rest of your clothes?”
“Naw, this is safer. I want to stay focused. Ya already scramble my brain without rubbin’ up on ya.
” I nodded. I didn’t know how I would react, no matter how much I trusted him, if his dick touched me.
He really did amaze me. When I first met Myles, I never would’ve guessed that this version of him was under all the swagger that screamed heartbreaker.
I watched him as he grabbed the soap and lathered the bar before gently running his hands all over my body.
It was pure heaven, and my eyes closed as he worked the suds into my shoulders, soothing the aches away.
I gasped as his hands slid down my legs.
He was so careful, and a well of emotion rose inside of me like a geyser.
The tears were flowing before I could even try to stop them.
“Did I hurt ya?” I shook my head. “Did I scare ya?” I shook my head again. “I don’t understand.”
I opened my mouth to tell him how I felt and that I hated that I had almost left him behind, but no words would form. My heart was full and breaking at the same time, and all I could do was wrap my arms around his waist and hold on.
“Shh, Snowflake, yer okay. I got ya, and I’m never lettin’ go.”
