Chapter 11 The Truth in the Bubbles
I got the reason for Sa'er's refusal from the Dream-Eating Mo.
He had suffered nightmares for seven consecutive days. Every dream was about his childhood.
I collected the Dream Bubbles one by one and pieced together Sa'er's early years.
His childhood had been spent in endless slaughter.
Friends, family, and his own kind were all targets he killed.
In the bubbles, Sa'er had lost all sanity. He didn't smile, didn't cry, didn't feel pain. He only obeyed the researchers at the institute, piercing every target with his tail spike.
When the conscious Sa'er learned he had killed his entire clan, rage, panic, and grief overwhelmed him in an instant. The completely maddened him bit off the doctor's legs, destroyed half the institute, and disappeared without a trace.
I sighed after learning the truth. It was only natural that Sa'er didn't want to face that painful memory.
There was a knock on the office door.
"What is it?"
The guard lowered his head. "Director, Sheng Tianyun is looking for you."
"Understood."
In the huge reception room, Sheng Tianyun sat in his wheelchair, tapping the reinforced glass absentmindedly, as if teasing the killer whale trapped in the giant tank.
"Father."
Sheng Tianyun turned his wheelchair. "Suiyu, you've been out of contact for a long time."
"The Monster Supervision Office keeps me very busy."
"Oh?"
"Any news on Subject Zero?"
I lowered my eyes. "None."
Sheng Tianyun asked, "What exactly is being held in the SSS-level sector of the Monster Supervision Office?"
"It's a great white shark."
I answered firmly.
"Is that so?"
"Then I must have heard wrong, Suiyu."
"The Monster Supervision Office has a high confidentiality level. The information released is often a mix of truth and lies. It's normal for you to misunderstand."
"I can't stop you anymore."
"Father is joking."
Sheng Tianyun waved his hand. "Go."
I nodded and left. The moment I stepped out, I heard that someone had used my order to take Sa'er out of the sector.
It was my fault for learning the truth too late. Sheng Tianyun hated Subject Zero, which was Sa'er, to the core.
How could this be a simple chat between father and son? It was clearly a diversionary tactic.
Fortunately, I had left precautions. The moment the car door closed, the highest-level defense system of the Monster Supervision Office activated. Even if they managed to kidnap Sa'er, they wouldn't be able to take a single step out.
