Chapter 3
Why?
I didn’t even know.
“Saw you were in trouble. So I came over.”
“That’s it?”
“That’s it.”
She lowered her head and laughed softly.
“I actually really disliked you… but now I realize, sometimes you’re kind of like him…”
“Like who?”
I waited a long time. She never answered.
When I looked again, she was already asleep against my shoulder.
I took her home, made her hangover soup, and stayed up so late I passed out in the chair.
When I woke up the next morning, a blanket was tucked over me.
MuJinci was in the kitchen making congee.
“You’re awake? Come eat something.”
Sunlight fell on her. She looked so gentle.
I remember thinking—if someone married her, how lucky that person would be.
“What are you thinking about?”
“Huh? Nothing… nothing.”
She paused, then asked,
“SuYueming, I remember on our first date you said I was your ideal type, right?”
I nearly choked on the congee. I looked up at her, stunned.
Why was she bringing that up now?
Teasing me?
“My mom keeps pushing me to get married. She’s set me up with so many guys, but none of them are to my taste. You’re the only one I don’t mind. If I have to marry someone, marrying you seems… fine.”
“…That casual?”
“Is it casual? At most it’s just a quick marriage, right?”
“Huh?”
“Don’t just sit there surprised. Answer me—do you have feelings for me?”
She stared straight into my eyes. My throat bobbed several times before I finally said,
“Yes.”
“Good.”
She suddenly leaned over and kissed my cheek.
“Let’s date then. With marriage as the goal.”
