Chapter Fourteen.
Mike
The look on Dynamo’s face said everything; we’d just shared something very intimate, and then I’d doubted her abilities.
But this place was safer. Rainbow wouldn’t attack here.
He’d know we would have fortified the base, however temporary it might be.
But the Royal Bastards were open season for him.
Rainbow would have no trouble infiltrating their compound.
“Shit,” I muttered. I wouldn’t leave Raven and Robin, but the woman I loved was walking into danger. Jude captured my gaze.
“The girls come first,” he said, and I scowled.
“I know that, asshole; I’m their father. The Royal Bastards are making a huge mistake. We need to monitor them.”
“Can’t. We’ve two teams on missions and not enough men to cover both sites. Mike, we’ve gotta protect the kids while we formulate a plan to capture Rainbow.”
Torn, I watched the bike lights fade before following Jude back inside.
Dynamo
“How are we handling this?” I asked in church.
Warden glanced over and smirked. “Carefully. We’re going to pull McKay and this hitman in together.”
Determined to end the threat, I nodded. “This time, McKay dies. Motherfucker owes me and Vogue.”
Vogue scowled. “Like Dynamo, I want the Screaming Barons buried. Romeo, we’ll need to know if any others have survived.”
“Yeah, I’ll rip McKay’s mind apart when we capture him. And I’ll also tear through Rainbow’s to see what he’s hiding,” Romeo promised.
“Let’s plan,” Warden said.
“Back off, Vogue!” I yelled. People turned and stared, and I ignored the attention.
“Dynamo, we’ve gotta talk about this,” Vogue snapped.
“About what? The fact you’re a betraying whore?” I hissed. Vogue’s eyes glinted, and she stepped forward.
“And you didn’t backstab me? Acting like you’re all sweetness and light.”
I shoved her hard, a genuine reaction to her closeness, and Vogue moved back.
“Bitch, we’re done.” I stormed off and headed for my bike.
I’d parked at the far end of the parking lot as planned.
Vogue stomped away, heading to the tattoo shop.
Eyes were watching, gauging, and I sensed the scrutiny, and not just from curious bystanders.
We’d created enough of a commotion to appear genuine.
Seeing two Royal Bastards at each other’s throats never happened in public.
As I reached my Harley, I fumbled around for a few moments. Someone snuck up behind me, and I stiffened as I turned. A sharp, shiny needle pierced my arm, and a man chuckled. “Sweet dreams, bitch.”
Counting, I closed my eyes even as I connected with Romeo, who cleared the drug fog immediately. Gracefully faking a collapse, I fell to the ground, and Rainbow caught me roughly and shoved me inside a van.
“Stay with me,” I whispered.
“Always. Slasher’s working through me to clear that crap from your veins,” Romeo replied.
“Damn, he can do that?”
“Says he can. How are you feeling?”
“A bit panicked. Talk to me, Romeo,” I almost begged.
He proceeded to tell me about Grace half-drowning Warden earlier today when he’d startled her.
That shit was funny, and I laughed inwardly.
Soul and Bryony’s youngest daughter had water abilities.
And as a baby, they were really uncontrollable until the new teacher, Jenson, arrived.
Jenson made Noble keep Grace in a bubble, and when Grace threw a tantrum, she soaked herself.
Grace soon got fed-up with that and learned to control them pretty quickly. But every so often Grace had a blip.
“Grace’s going to cause mayhem.”
“Defo. Slasher said the drug is gone, but I’ve a firm hold on your mind.”
“Thanks, brother. Looks like we’re stopping. Yeah, we are.”
“Look around,” Romeo ordered.
“Give me a chance. This asshole’s gotta pull me out first.”
The doors opened, and I was shot with another dart. Fuck.
“On it,” Romeo growled as he locked my mind down to stop the drug affecting me.
“McKay claimed you were a badass and would be difficult to capture. What a joke,” Rainbow snarked as he flung me over a shoulder and lifted me out of the van. Unconcerned with Rainbow, I opened my eyes and checked my surroundings.
“Damn, I’m at Rosewoods, that derelict hotel on the Atlantic Highway,” I said and closed them again as I was swung around.
“Is Rainbow taking you inside? We’re riding.”
“Yes. Fucker’s putting me in the reception area. I’m on a couch.”
“Dynamo, we’re coming,” Romeo promised.
“Okay.”
I just had to hold on. Rainbow kept moving about, and then he punched the buttons on a phone.
“Got her… Nope, bitch was a smooth takedown. Dynamo’s drugged to the gills, man… come and collect and bring my bonus. You’ve got an hour before I move on and take her.” Rainbow hung up and grinned. “Can’t believe you were so easy.”
“And I can’t believe you’re so dumb,” I snapped, sitting up and flinging Rainbow against the wall.
“How fuckin’ stupid are you? Don’t bother replying; I know the answer.
You left me untied, uncuffed, and were confident you were in charge.
Worse, you walked right into our trap. No wonder Jude kicked you out. ”
“I quit!” Rainbow yelled as he struggled to get free. That was his priority? Telling me he was the one who’d quit?
“No, you were booted out. And damn, I can understand why.” I looked Rainbow over and sneered. Arrogance leeched from him, and paired with overconfidence, that was a fatal flaw.
“How are you holding me? Do you have some sort of weapon? Show me!” There was the reaction, albeit a bit late.
“A lack of intelligence, too,” I muttered. I pulled Rainbow from the wall and slammed him back into it.
“Thanks for calling McKay. That saves us tracking that fucker down. But I don’t think he’ll be too happy that you led him into a trap. Although McKay won’t care after a few hours.”
“You’ll pay for this,” Rainbow threatened. Muscles bulged as he tried to free himself.
“Nah. Rainbow, you fucked up. Didn’t do your homework.
See, there’s a reason McKay sent you to collect me.
He knows what I’m capable of, and he’s scared.
If I killed you, you’re just collateral damage.
Basically, Rainbow, you’re expendable.” I pulled him forward and slammed him again.
“And worse? Motherfucker, you agreed to a hit on the man I love. That I take personally.”
“Mike’s an asshole. It’s doing the world a favour putting Mike out of his misery,” Rainbow sneered.
“Nah, I disagree. You’re the loser here, and you’ll soon realise that.”
I sat back, calm and collected.
“McKay is coming, wait,” I sent to Romeo.
“No. Not leaving you to face McKay alone.”
“I’ll be fine.”
“It’s not a matter of that; it’s about being there for you.” Romeo blew a mental raspberry and made me laugh.
“What did you learn about us?” I asked Rainbow.
“How are you doing this?” he demanded. Sweat poured off him as Rainbow fought against my grip with everything he had.
“Should have done your homework, asshole. The Royal Bastards, Camden, are special. We’ve abilities.
Telekinesis, telepathy, precognition, and so on.
Taking me was never going to be easy. As soon as you shot me up with drugs, our healer cleared them psychically.
You’re a joke. How have you survived this long? ”
“Fuckin’ bitch!”
“That’s true as well. Just be quiet until the party starts,” I said and ignored him.
Minutes ticked past, and I finally heard bike pipes.
They were rattling and old, and I guessed that was McKay.
None of the RBMC would dare disrespect our ride so badly.
The annoying noise cut off, and the door swung open.
Before McKay and those with him could react, I grabbed and hauled them in.
McKay’s eyes went wide with fear when he saw Rainbow pinned to the wall and me loose.
“Surprise!” I trilled. “So nice of you to join us in what’s going to be the biggest death party ever!” “Fool! I warned you Dynamo was difficult to control!” McKay roared at Rainbow. With McKay were five men. I recognised every one of them, the last remaining members of Screaming Barons MC.
“You mentioned nothing about freaky-assed powers,” Rainbow spat back.
“McKay, shouldn’t have returned for me. You remember raping me? How much you enjoyed it? I’m gonna enjoy returning the favour!” I snarled.
“Bitch, I’m a man!”
“And? Can still fuck you through the ass and I’m going to. Once I read about an English prince who was killed with a red-hot poker shoved up his butt. Gonna have to try that one.” I chuckled.
“Dynamo, I’ll kill you!” McKay threatened.
“No. You. Won’t. This ends here. I’m gonna mess you up and slit your throat. If I weren’t waiting for Romeo to get information out of Rainbow, he’d already be dead. Meanwhile, I’m bored.”
I shoved the pitiful remains of the Screaming Barons over to join Rainbow and dragged Duster out. “Let’s start with you.” I grinned and broke his cock.
Warden
Screams greeted us as I parked up. The club rode in behind me and dismounted.
“Sounds like Dynamo’s begun without us,” Vogue said and headed inside. By the time I got there, Vogue had burned Duster’s fingers off.
“Remember Katie? My sister? I’m gonna make you scream,” Vogue promised.
“Warden, parley!” McKay yelled.
I cocked my head. Nice try. Parley was a ceasefire presidents used to sort business out. Fuck that. I was bucking the unspoken rule that a request for parley should always be heard, but I didn’t give a fuck.
“Denied.”
McKay blanched. “Warden, you can’t do that!”
“For my wife, sister, and unborn child you tried to murder, for Dynamo, Vogue, Katie, and the countless unnamed victims, I fuckin’ can,” I snarled.
“You’re a wank stain on society, and it’s time to say sayonara.” Vogue grinned, her hands lighting up. The stench of piss rose, and I smirked. She stormed over to Duster and clasped his groin. The scent of burning flesh permeated the air.
Duster screamed and passed out. Dynamo and Vogue watched McKay swallow hard.
“Strip him,” I ordered, and Blister and Griffin grabbed Duster and tore his clothes away as Wyvern threw a bucket of water over him.
Duster shouted and threatened, but it was a waste of time. Vogue picked up an empty bottle and a plank of wood. She grinned viciously, and I barely refrained from wincing. Fuck. My sisters were diabolical.
“Get him ready,” Dynamo hissed.
Griffin and Blister did. Dynamo turned her head toward McKay. “I ain’t forgotten anything you fuckers did. You’re about to understand exactly how much hate I carry!”
“Warden, I’m Rosalea’s father!” McKay shouted.
“Nah. Rosalea had a DNA test done. Pearl lied to ya and Dad; Rosalea’s actually my full sister,” I stated with a manic grin. McKay began cursing, as did his brothers, while Dynamo and Vogue made Duster scream.
Mike
It had been ten days since I last saw Dynamo.
Proof of death had been sent for Rainbow a week ago, and he was barely recognisable.
The girls and I had returned home, but I missed her.
Had I blown everything? Christ, I’d not even said I loved her.
I headed out to the kitchen to make a coffee and was shocked to see Dynamo standing there, holding a cup.
“Want a mug?” Dynamo asked, looking completely at home.
“Sure,” I replied casually, leaning against the counter.
Dynamo looked different. Like she’d settled some ghosts. She appeared more peaceful and confident, although the wariness remained.
“Bodies?”
“We have a Vogue.” Right. The sister who was a walking firestarter.
“Get what you needed?”
“And then some. Jude’s going to be busy,” Dynamo said. “We’ve got an important choice to make.” She gestured to the two of us.
My heart stuttered. Shit, was Dynamo dumping me? “I love you.” I gasped.
Dynamo’s face softened. “Funny enough, I feel the same.”
“Great.” What did I just say? How lame was that?
“Mike, concentrate, decision-making time.”
“Yeah?” I forced out.
“Where are we building our home?” Dynamo smirked, and I knew everything was going to be fine.
