Chapter Twenty Five

I make sure to take a quick shower and head downstairs to find Blakely. When I walk into the kitchen, I’m stunned silent. She’s in one of my t-shirts moving around the kitchen like the house was made for her.
My shirt barely covers her butt. It’s taking everything in me not to go over and completely own her. I reach down to adjust myself, but I know there’s no use in trying to hide how hard I am. She’ll see me right through my sweatpants.
I come up behind Blakely and wrap my arms around her. She leans into me and gives me an award winning smile. “Well, hello to you, too.”
I chuckle. “Good morning, butterfly. Is breakfast ready?” I ask. It smells amazing in here.
Blakely nods. “I just made us omelets. I hope that’s okay?”
“Anything you make is good with me.” It’s the truth. Even if it was awful, I’d still eat it.
I’d do anything to see her cooking in my kitchen again. I can practically imagine her in the kitchen pregnant with my baby. I groan. I can’t think about that right now.
I’m already hard enough. I move away from Blakely reluctantly so she can have more room to finish breakfast. “Omelets are good protein.”
Blakely snorts. “Of course you’d say that, Mr. Gym Rat.”
“Hey. I’ve got to keep going to the gym to look this good.” I know she likes my muscles. She stares more than she realizes. “Besides, my gym is in my basement. I only go to a public gym when someone wants to work out with me.”
I want to ask her to work out with me. Although, I don’t think I could handle that. Blakely walks to the table and places our plates down before sitting down.
I didn’t realize that she finished the food. “Are you going to come and sit?” Blakely asks me.
I nod before heading to sit down next to her. “Thank you for breakfast.”
“It’s my pleasure.” Blakely winks at me. “I hope you enjoy it.”
We start eating. Neither of us try to speak. It’s a comfortable silence. I typically hate silence, but with her, it’s different.
“Would you love me if I wasn’t a paramedic?”
It’s a ridiculous question to ask, but I want to know her answer. I don’t know if being a paramedic is for me… Blakely tilts her head at me as she finishes her bite. “What do you mean?” she asks, placing her fork down.
“Exactly what I asked. Would you still want to be with me even if I wasn’t a paramedic anymore?”
This job has started to feel so draining. It’s not giving me joy anymore. I used to look forward to getting to help people. Now… not so much.
“Did something happen?” Blakely keeps her voice soft, like she’s talking to a child.
I shake my head. “No. Nothing happened… Well, not in the way of me getting in trouble.” How do I explain to her that I hate going into work? If she tells her dad, I’m as good as screwed. “You can’t tell your dad we’re talking about this,” I tell her.
Blakely laughs. “I do not tell him everything.”
She’s such a liar. I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone that talks to her dad more than she does. I just stare at her.
“Do you want to rethink that answer?” I chuckle.
Blakely’s cheeks turn pink. “Okay… Okay… Maybe I do tell him everything. But he’s my dad. I’m going to tell him everything. But I promise I won’t tell him about this. That would be betraying your confidence. What makes you not want to be a paramedic anymore?”
I shrug. “I don’t know.” It’s not a lie. I don’t know how I got to this point. “I don’t even know if I don’t want to be a paramedic anymore… All I know is it’s just not the same anymore.”
“Hmm…” Blakely hums before she gets up from her seat.
She straddles my lap and wraps her arms around the back of my neck. “Yes, butterfly?” I place my hands on her hips.
“How about you take some time off?” she asks, leaning down and kissing my cheek gently.
I close my eyes as I feel her lips trail down to my neck before she nips my ear. I groan.
“We could work on your house… We could spend time together…” she whispers against my neck. I grip her hips tighter.
That sounds like heaven. I place her on the table and stand up. I lean down and capture her lips in a deep kiss.
Her warmth surrounds me. She’s addictive in a way that I can’t explain. I slip my tongue into her mouth. The small sound she makes against my lips nearly undoes me. One of her hands moves to my hair and curls into it.
I shift closer to her, pulling her to the end of the table. Blakely responds by wrapping her legs around my waist. The feel of her underneath me… the tightness of her legs... I swallow her moan when I slip my tongue into her mouth again. She lets me lead the kiss.
I pull back just enough to be able to look at her. Lips flushed; eyes half-lidded. This sight hits me harder than the kiss did. I’m so far gone for this woman.
“We could start trying for a baby,” I tell her.
She’s breathing heavily, but she doesn’t respond to me just yet.
“I could take a leave of absence. Take off enough time that we have a baby…” I look down her body, and it takes everything in me not to throw her over my shoulder and take her to my bedroom.
Blakely giggles and smiles up at me. “I didn’t know that you were wanting that…”
I lean down again and nip her bottom plump lip. “There is nothing more I want in this world than to have a baby with you…” I whisper against her lips. “I want you to be mine. My girlfriend. My fiance. My wife.”
I kiss her again and don’t pull back. Loving her is the best part of my life.
