Chapter Twenty Nine

Feeling Blakely’s naked body pressed up against mine keeps me centered like I never thought possible. I look out of my bedroom window and watch the sun rise.

I don’t know what happened to me after I saw that woman again… It was like a real life nightmare. I shutter at the thought. I felt so… Lost when I finally came out of it. Blakely knows just how to get me to snap out of it though.

I need to make it up to her for everything I said… I look down at her and press a kiss to the top of her head. I’ve never loved anyone more than I love her. I don’t want to lose her. I’ve lost her once. I don’t want to go through that again.

I manage to move her onto the bed so I can get up. I make quick work with getting dressed and heading out to my 4Runner. If I take my Supra she’ll definitely wake up.

I rub the side of my face as I stare at the flowers in front of me. Why are there so many? I don’t even know her favorite flower. Alexander chuckles before he reaches in front of me and grabs a bouquet of red roses, I think?

“They’re just flowers, Miller. Pick a set and move on with your day.” Alexander hands me the flowers he was holding. “For Blakely. She likes red roses.”

How does he know that, and I don’t? I glare at him, which only makes him laugh harder. “She told Charlotte, and I overheard. Relax. You in the dog house or something?”

“Or something…” I rub the back of my neck with my free hand. “I don’t want to talk…” My eyes trail down to the basket in his hand. A pregnancy test? “Dude, you got Charlotte pregnant?” I ask a little louder than I intend.

Alexander punches me hard in my arm. I grit my teeth. He’s strong, and that hurt. “Announce it to the entire store, why don’t ya?”

I rub my arm. “You could’ve punched me lighter,” I tell him.

Alex smirks. “Don’t be weak. That didn’t hurt. Yes, it's a pregnancy test. I don’t know if I got her pregnant. That’s what the test is for,” Alex tells me like I’m a moron.

“I’m not stupid. I know how it works. I am a paramedic.” I roll my eyes.

“What did you do to Blakely?” Alexander asks, changing the subject.

I shake my head. I don’t want to admit it. I don’t want to tell him that I was truly awful to her, and she didn’t leave me. I want to take that secret to my grave. I turn to walk away, but Alex follows after me.

“Tell me,” he demands.

I stop and look at him. “I’m disappointed in myself, but I… was mean to her. I was awful….” It doesn’t seem real when I think about it.

Alexander must see that I really don’t want to talk about it because he just pats my back. “Fights happen. Grovel. Apologize. But don’t leave her because of one mistake. I know you don’t date, so I’ll help you out this time. But every time after this time, you’re on your own, alright?”

I smirk at him. “You say that like I’m going to let there be a next time, Walker.”

Alexander laughs. “Yeah right. I know you. You’re going to say something to upset her. It’s only a matter of time. Come on, get a move on it, paramedic. I got a girl and a kid to get back to. I don’t want to spend my entire morning here with you.”

I follow after him quickly. I don’t want to be here with him all morning either. I’d much rather be in bed with Blakely.

After getting home, I bring everything into the house and set it up on the counter. I got all of her favorite snacks, drinks. I got her a new laptop. I’m hoping that maybe it’ll put her into the mood to start writing again.

I picked up breakfast on my way home. I was pushing it on time and didn’t want her to wake up alone.

I hear soft walking down the hallway to the kitchen. “Where did you go?” Blakely asks me.

She’s in one of my t-shirts again, and nothing else. Man, oh man… I walk over to her and lean down. “I got you some stuff…” I kiss her once. “Good morning, butterfly.”

“Good morning.” She smiles brightly at me. “You didn’t have to get me anything.”

I shake my head. “I know I didn’t have to. I wanted to. There’s a difference… I’m sorry for being so mean to you. I promise I’ll do better…”

Blakely is quiet as she looks at the counter where everything is. “How’d you know I like red roses?”

I laugh. “I won’t lie to you. Alex helped me with that, but I picked out everything else…” I rub the back of my neck nervously. “I can return anything you don’t like.”

Blakely turns back to me and wraps her arms around the back of my neck. “I love everything. It’s perfect. Thank you.” She kisses me softly.

Her lips are plump and soft… The perfect way to start any day.

“I would do anything for you…” I whisper to her. I lean my forehead against hers. “I mean it, too.”

Blakely smiles so wide, her dimples show.

“I know… I know you didn’t mean to be mean to me yesterday.

You don’t have to keep feeling bad about it,” she tells me.

Her words give me peace of mind. I’m new to this dating thing…

I don’t want to ever make her sad. “Now. How about we go back to bed? Have dessert before breakfast?” She bites her bottom lip.

I groan. How did I get so lucky with this woman? “Anything you want, butterfly.” I lean down and throw her over my shoulder.
