Chapter 19
Chapter Nineteen
Jenna
“Shhh, I know, honey.” Gen bounces Zac in her arms as she paces the room.
“Aren’t you breastfeeding? Just give him your tit already.” I glare at the club girl who doesn’t even try to hide her annoyance at being trapped in this room with a scared baby.
“Bitch, what is your problem? He’s scared, not hungry. Shut the fuck up,” Kelly, as always, speaks her mind before I ever have the chance.
“Who the hell do you —” I don’t even remember moving.
One minute I’m sitting watching Gen and Zac; the next I’ve throat punched the idiot who wouldn’t shut up.
She holds her throat and gasps like a fish out of water.
“Next time someone tells you to shut up, maybe you’ll fucking listen. None of us need your hysterics.” Her face is red, whether from embarrassment or lack of oxygen. I don’t give a fuck, but her eyes fill with rage, and I can tell she’s a petty bitch thinking of some way to get me back.
Whatever. I have bigger problems than her right now.
This building is under attack, and I know whoever is outside is trying to get to me. Meanwhile, Troy thought it was a good idea to lock me in this room instead of letting me fight.
Idiot.
Flip made a very convincing argument before closing the door, though.
“Troy wants you safe, and you’ll be able to protect them as well.” Did they all take the art of manipulating a woman when they joined this fucking club?
Alright, that’s not fair of me. They want what’s best for us, but still. I’m fucking pissed and useless in here.
“Gen, let me out.” I try again, but it’s like the only language she speaks right now is baby ‘cause she ignores me and everyone else in this room.
I honestly can’t fault her priorities.
I’d be the same if I were holding a little mini-Troy in my arms.
Woo ovaries! Where had that thought come from? Is my brain trying to give me a different crisis to think about? So not fucking helpful. Motherhood was not on my bingo card.
Neither was a biker marriage, but here you are. Fucking every chance you get. Without a condom, like a dumbass who never got that Plan B pill.
My ass hits the floor hard when my legs decide they don’t want to work anymore.
“Jenna? What’s wrong?” Kelly shakes me, but I’m too busy cursing myself out.
How could we have been so fucking stupid?
“Earth to Jenna! Bitch, talk to me.” I blink and focus on Kelly’s face.
“I’m screwed.” Did she just roll her eyes at me?
“Since the moment you fell in love with tall, dark, and dangerous. Tell me something I don’t know?” My mouth opens and closes, not wanting to say the words.
“I might be pregnant.” Kelly stutters and then coughs.
“How sure are you? Have you missed your period?” I shake my head.
“Not yet, but we’ve been fucking. A lot.” She narrows her eyes at me and lifts a finger.
“First of all. Don’t you ever give me a heart attack like that again.
Two, stop freaking out over nothing. You don’t even have a reason to stop drinking yet, which you will be doing when this is over ‘cause what the fuck! And three, y’all would have the cutest fucking babies, so why are you stressing over that right now?
We got our problems at the moment.” Right, right, I need to get some perspective.
“Are you crazy? You could have killed me!” We both turn on the club girl, so clearly she has not learned her lesson.
“And still could. Have you no self-preservation skills?” Kelly asks, astonished by this bitch’s audacity.
Before anyone else can utter a word, the window above us shatters, and metal starts to groan as the shutters are being torn from the brick building. Screams fill the room as we all cover ourselves as best we can from the falling debris.
“MOVE!” I grab the women and push them as far away from the wall that is starting to buckle.
A series of beeps comes from behind me, and I turn to see the door open. Troy’s face greets me just as the window breaks free. I push Gen and Zac at him first.
“JENNA!” he screams as I make sure all the other women get out safely first before following them, but I’m too late.
As I reach for Troy’s hand, someone grips my torso, snapping me back.
“Not so fast.” Lawrence’s voice fills my ear.
I react on instinct.
My arms reach up and grab the back of his shirt. I bend, flipping him over my back and kicking him away. Loud popping sounds hurt my ears as I lunge towards Troy, who catches me. I look back to see Lawrence in a pool of blood and smile.
“He had that coming.” I grin as I sway now that the adrenaline in my system has crashed.
“Jenna! Stay with me. Don’t close your eyes.” Why?
I’m so tired.
“Babe, tell me where you’re hurt!” I frown at him until I see his hand come away from my stomach, bloody.
Tears run down his face, and I try to wipe them away. My vision flickers, but I look back at Lawrence, and I smile.
“Guess he got my blood after all.”
